This restaurant is in a lovely location on Blackwattle Bay in Sydney with a view of the Anzac Bridge. We arrived by taxi, but if you want to make a more dramatic entrance, you can arrive by water taxi. Greeted by friendly faces from the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable and the wait staff very knowledgeable about the dishes.
An excellent restaurant offering wonderful food and service. The wine list offers an adventure but very pricey. The big let down was the short and hopelessly industrial beer list which does not reflect the rich Sydney craft beer scene.
We had 3 kinds of amazingly fresh oysters selected from a huge variety and loved them all! We chose the king prawns, the duck and the tuna sashima as starters and thoroughly enjoyed each and every bite! We were excited to try the snapper pie after hearing many good things. Although it did not disappoint, we both enjoyed the starters a lot more. Views of the bay was stunning at night. All the waitstaff were super friendly except for one British girl - she was mostly indifferent and maybe even borderline dismissive, exuded a visibly different attitude when serving the table next to us (maybe it was us?), did not once (out of multiple visits to our table) ask what we thought of the food - not bad enough to ruin our night but a shame given the night would have been perfect otherwise. We still tipped, mainly for the others.
It’s always a lovely experience dining at The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay. The views are stunning, especially at night, the service is impeccable and the seafood is always fresh and the best quality. Every time I go, my main must always be their famous snapper pie (pictured). It never disappoints! #snapperpie #theboathouse
Had great night here! A bit out of the way and secluded well worth the booking! Great location and views. The service was on point! Food was delicious what more could you ask for?
Great place with spectacular views of Anzac Bridge, especially if you come here don’t forget to order Fish Pie and Oysters. The oysters was fresh and juicy, I couldn’t get enough of it.
The Boathouse on Black Wattle Bay is simply stunning. Set right on the water with views of the Anzac bridge, fish markets and the bay. Ask for a table at the front when booking.
The menu here starts with more than ten different oysters from across the NSW coast and Australia. With a great selection of entrees ($27) and mains ($48), you’ll be spoilt for choice. We tried a range of oysters, personally enjoying the Clare de lune oysters above others. Sharing the king prawn entree we weren’t disappointed. For the mains the obvious choice is the snapper pie and boy does it deliver. I’d recommend sharing the pie between two people with a side of thick cut chips and leaving room for dessert. Will be returning here for any special occasion worth celebrating in Sydney.
We love all good food, but we are especially passionate about Australia’s wonderful array of local fish and seafood, freshly caught every day. Oysters are one of our obsessions. And while you are exploring our daily menus or simply sharing a plate of oysters in The Boathouse Bar, you can also enjoy magical views across Blackwattle Bay to the Anzac Bridge and Sydney Fish Market from our historic boathouse home. You might even spot a few Sydney rowers gliding by.
When you arrive by water taxi to a restaurant that is situated on a tip of a jetty, you are bound to expect a wonderful dining experience.
The views firstly are breathtaking, with full wall to ceiling windows, you get unrivalled views of Sydney’s harbour.
The two standout dishes that I tried were:
Ballina spanner crab - wok cooked in salt and pepper spices. It was finger licking good, the meat was sweet and succulent and had the right amount of spice and flavouring.
Dessert: Sheeps milk pannacotta watermelon, strawberries and ginger. It was a refreshing dessert to end the meal. The perfect sweet ending.
A gorgeous venue with equally impressive dishes.
A lovely place to eat lunch with a great view - oysters freshly shucked, showcasing the best of Sydney’s seafood. Snapper pie is a classic for a reason. Friendly service. Highly recommend.
Every dish we ordered was delicious! The wait staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful despite the current world climate. Get out there and keep supporting your favourite restaurants but don’t forget social distancing yourself too. 🙏🏼💙
Make a reservation for an early dinner and watch the sun set as you dine. The kingfish sashimi starter is gorgeous, and the oysters are very fresh (the bread was too tough and chewy and not to my liking). The snapper pie is the best dish, we knew we would want to share one each. Pairing this with the John dory makes for a massive meal. The chips are the best I've had, prices are not unreasonable for the food and location.
A stunning array of seafood at the Bosthouse Sydney in Glebe!
A place I've been wanting to dine at for a long time now, I finally had the chance to check out the current menu. If you visit you MUST ORDER the Snapper Pie, it has been on the menu for 20 years and it's not going anywhere. A beautiful creamy filling, with a crispy outer shell and that lingering finish of truffle oil on the tastebuds 🤤 ..simply devine 👌
I also highly reccommend the roast clarence river prawns, beautiful tarragon & cider butter on these babies. The other dishes I tried were beautifully put together, next time i must go for some caviar and oysters 😋
Can't wait to return to this beautifully set restaurant above the glebe boat shed. Stunning views and very elegant atmosphere 🌊🔥
Best oyster selection in Sydney! Perfect for lunch. What a contrast to our lunch at Flying Fish last week! The restaurant has a warm and welcome atmosphere. The wait staff were attentive and interested. Amazing oyster selection with the oysters being freshly shucked.
The swordfish main was very tasty. Octopus entree lacked a bit of flavour. Peach sorbet rounded out the meal. Good selection of wines by glass. Will be back again.
This place is one of the best fine dining experiences in Sydney. Top view, top service and top food. It's always a little tricky coming here with your own car and it's best to take a taxi or uber it due to limited parking space. Their signature fish pie is always delicious including the amazing selection of oysters.
Overlooking the Anzac Bridge and Blackwattle Bay you'll find the Boathouse. With a menu that changes every day depending on what's fresh, you're always guaranteed the best quality seafood.
We order the kingfish sashimi, the roasted King prawns, the mahi mahi and their famous Snapper Pie. Kingfish was fresh and the prawns are not to be missed - that butter is amazing! The Snapper Pie is a menu staple for a reason. They've nailed the recipe with super tender snapper and an amazingly creamy sauce with just a hint of truffle oil. It's served and plated table side which seems a little unnecessary but adds an extra special touch.
With incredible views and equally as good food, throw this one on the list as soon as you can
