Amazing! Healthy, Fresh & Tasty! Definitely come here again for sure and try a different option on the menu. Fortunately I’ll be staying very local so will get this great opportunity.
One of the most delicious, immaculately presented and best value for money meals I’ve had at a cafe in a very long time.
Testy and good quality sandwiches. Love the coffee here too!
I'm addicted to this place. It does help that it's close to work but the cured salmon that they have with poached egg and cauliflower puree is out of this world. I don't know what they do to it, but it's highly addictive. I have to restrict myself to one visit a week!!! :)
Cute little cafe with delicious filling breakfast options (got the sausage egg on milk bun - egg was just the right amount of runny!); coffee was good and service was quick.
An enjoyable brunchtime. Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff. The food served were delicious and fresh, and taste just right (not too salty and sweet).
We had a late breakfast here on Good Friday. Staff were lovely and attentive and timely. Coffee was nice. Salmon avo smash was fresh with nice big chunks of salmon. The burger and chips was fresh and tasty (they let you know the beef mince patty comes pink - I prefer more well done which was catered for with no issue). Would happily return
Had the beef cheeks and the vitamin B. The beef cheeks are good, they're yummy! Portion's generous. I wouldn't order the same thing though if I come again- I want to try the other menu. But it was good! Also tried the vitamin B for beverage- definitely a must try.
Warm and cosy cafe with delicious comfort food. We had the Cuban pork sandwich which was absolutely divine and the potato and leek soup with pulled pork which was great on a cold, rainy day. The soup was served with the yummiest wood fired bread lathered with butter. The drinks menu was also fantastic with some inventive flavours such as peppermint hot chocolate.
Named after the man who claimed to have invented sandwich in the 1700s, , John Montagu is a popular sandwich joint in the centre of Woolloomooloo. Apart from handcrafted sandwiches on the menu, there are a few choices of salads too. SPECIALTY SANDWICHES. BEEF CHEEKS – 18 AUD. CHICKEN SALAD – 15 AUD
During my visit, the electricity suddenly went down. Luckily, there were big windows that allowed some sunlight to went in but still, I could not take a good picture because of that
Tried their famous beef cheek sandwich but its not as good as I expected to be. Its just okay for me😕
Friend and I did take away ice coffee and lunch.
Beef cheek sandwich is amazingly juicy and soft, it was perfect!!
I’ll definitely coming back to try another sandwich :) Highly recommend it!
Nice spot for lunch catch ups. It is busy at lunch time but you can typically get a seat inside or outside.
Highly recommend their Signature Beef Cheeks sandwich which was delicious and filling.
Cafe John Montagu by day, Latin diner Juan Montago by night, this new entry is an offshoot of Yan Restaurant, designed to showcase the talents of their Colombian kitchen crew. The succinct menu is broadly Colombian, starting with well executed (but pricy) smoked beef empanadas ($8/each) with fresh chimmichurri and a mild chilli sauce.
Four fried plantain fritters provide a good hand-to-mouth delivery system for snapper ceviche ($16) that’s bright with lime and pineapple but wants for chilli. Chargrilled octopus ($21) in a smoky dressing is nicely contrasted with juicy red compressed watermelon. Larger dishes are best enjoyed as shared between two with a couple of sides. We had sautéed prawns ($35) in a coconut tomato sauce that really needed coconut rice ($6).
Stronger direction from the floor might have directed us away from the eggplant and plantain gratin ($14) that clashed with it, and toward the very sticky-sweet rice. Green mango salad ($13) provided a nice, fresh juxtaposition. Three milk cake ($12) is milky, creamy and so sweet I was glad we opted to share our slab (and still didn’t manage to finish it).
Juan Montago is warmly welcoming, with the chef presenting our last dish, and enquiring as to how we liked our meal. Wines, like the 2018 Patina Chardonnay ($45) from Orange NSW drink well for a reasonable price. The interior space isn’t overcrowded, with polished concrete floors and a classic striped awning, corner shop vibe.
Love this hidden gem. Great coffee, food and service. Everything is always delicious. Love the salmon bowl with charred brown rice. Super tasty! And the vitamin b + soda is a great kickstart drink in the morning.
This is a really great little place, the staff are very quick and helpful. The food was absolutely lovely, as is the setting. They have a unique an delicious spin on Thier menu, I can absolutely recommend the sausage bread roll. Amazing stuff guys, keep up the good work.
