This place is always busy and with the 'bottomless' mimosas you can see why. Friendly service, quirky menu names and eye-catching food definitely helps. :)
Highlights: service with a smile. lowlights: drinks vs food times to the table. The drinks just took a little too long.
Why we visited this cafe so late! Return of MacDaddy and Pimp Mi Goreng are so! delicious! We want to go back again and again! Kimchi, bacon and cheese are the best.

I visited this cafe last week and is always amazed at the food menu! The food is always quite creative and out of the ordinary as I ordered the kimcheese toast and the return of the Mac daddy. This would be my second time visiting and I can certainly vouch that the Mac daddy is just as good as the first time I’ve tried it, that is always my go-to.
The Mac daddy is surprisingly not too heavy with the amount of Mac and cheese they put on the croissant, it is paired perfectly with the tomato relish and crispy onions which cut through. The Kim cheese toast is say was a 6/10, Im not too sure but I could not taste the kimchi at all or was it missing from my plate? The mushrooms however were delicious and had a lot of flavour but the kimchi would have elevated the dish a lot more so it wasn’t too flat!
For the service, we were greeted so politely and was able to order quite quickly but after our meal we did also want to order some juice and the waitress wasn’t as attentive and it was really hard to get her attention to make an order. However, this did not ruin the experience at all as if definitely still return!

Well worth the wait, Cuckoo Callay was a pleasure to dine at. The menu was unique and creative and it was all delicious. The Pimp Mi Goreng was my favourite of the three with crunchy, juicy, noodle-coated chicken and their home made Kim Chi kicked it out of the ball park. Coffee was smooth and perfect to have on a cold winter morning. Will 100% come back.
Was here a few months ago when i was in Sydney. I absolutely love the names of these dishes: Return of the MacDaddy (my fave!!), I'm So Bondi It Hurts, Pimp Mi Goreng, Say Cheese Kimchi and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. The drinks: My Watermelon Don't Lie and On Wednesday We Wear Pink. Definitely a good brunch place in Syd!

Food and coffee here were perfect 👌😍 we sat at a bar upstairs. The morning sun hit the food beautifully and made for nice pictures 📸
🥞🍓Flat as a pancake ($21) With lemon and white chocolate hotcake, spiced sour cherry jam, honey and vanilla yoghurt, macadamia crumble and fresh berries
I was worried it wasnt going to be enough, but it was actually a satisfying feed. Then pancake was very tasty and quite dense. The toppings were very light and was a very nice touch. (Pretty to look at too 🤩)

With house-made wagyu corned beef, gruyère cheese, sauerkraut, russian dressing, pickles and watercress on sourdough served with salt and vinegar house crisps
Boyfriend review: Yum! It had a tasty chilli sauce. Meat tasted so good.

With cold brew, hazelnut soaked tapioca pearls and bonsoy.
I actually had already ordered a latte, but when I saw this on the menu I knew I had to try it (nothing wrong with having two coffees). This did not disappoint I loved the taste of the mini hazelnut soaked tapioca pearls in the coffee. I recommend trying it if you want something different.

I got the croissant filled with mac and cheese and egg. Super delicious but got sickening quite quickly, but my husband demolished his and finished mine off!
Nice Sunday coffee. Friendly, fast service. Love their loyalty cards for puppies -- great initiative. Would've stayed for breaky but no seats left as this place seems pretty popular with the locals. Next time.
Visited on a Monday off and had the best experience here. Not only were the coffees and sweets delicious, the owners and the staff were also extremely attentive and welcoming. Would definitely take up their offers and suggestions in terms of what to order as the cupcakes (espresso & pecan) and lemon meringue tart were so yummy. They were lovely enough to let us try their specialty coffee (which had a unique spice mix) which was a great start to our morning. Would definitely come again. 😊
The customer service was really on point and amazing! The staff were really attentive with suggesting to us vegan options after seating us down and poured us water and refills. QR code at table to pay upon ordering, so there was no need to split bills. Really lovely food! Definitely should try the ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest’ dish! The ‘No. 88 Okonomiyaki’ was a little bit too sweet for our liking. Other than that, would definitely return to try the other variety of dishes the cafe has to offer!
Sunday breakfast. Crowded yet staff were attending to us to the best they could.
Order DIY breakfast with sourdough toasts with scrambled eggs and bacon. Loved all of them, eggs was well done with a good swirl and texture. Not too watery and the right moisture made it a good blend on the buttered toast. Bacon strips had a good crisp yet soft to bite it off with fat.
Coffee was great! Good touch of strength for me.
Wonderful service. Ordering via the table qr was simple and had good pictures of menu items.
Eggs on toast were perfect. And the bacon was an essential add on.
Pour over coffee was served in a glass. Just be sure to let it cool a minute before drinking 👍
Fantastic local gem. Great creative food with a twist, beautiful smooth coffee and friendly service. We came on a Saturday morning and it was BUSY, so consider booking in advance or trying to come before 9am/after 11am.
Definitely on my list to come back.
Nice cafe with good coffee and healthy choices for breakfast. But also naughty things like their French toast. Seating outside is a little crammed, but offers a nice view on people (and lots of dogs) passing by.
Late post - Went to Cuckoo Callay on Crown for Sunday brunch late last year. Food was good - I really enjoyed my order of no 88 Okonomiyaki and sides of Korean fried chicken bites, but service was mediocre. We had to wait for a table but wasn't a long wait. Overall good experience.
