We came here with a group of 9 people and the staff were accommodating and kind. We ordered a bunch of dishes which were all dishes, nicely seasoned and freshly made. I recommend ordering set A or B as you save money and it’s worth the price.
The best fried pork knuckle in the city! They always have promotion.
A Thai taxi driver recommended Tawandang as the most authentic Bangkok restaurant here. The dishes might have been different to any I had in Bangkok and the $7 lunch box specials had a limited range (all meat) and variable quantities (one had a small portion of meat, the other had a lot, still good value either way), anyway the food was amazing. Intense flavours cooked into it, which worked particularly well with the slow-cooked pork. Only medium spicy but the flavours are even better than Ladda's, my other favourite traditional Thai.
Fast and friendly service. The dishes and prices are all reasonably priced considering the location and options available. Have already been to this locations twice. Once with freinds were we ordered various dishes and second time ordered their lunch special, which i highly recommend.
Been visited to this restaurant since 4 years ago. One of the best Thai restaurants in Sydney with no doubts. The pig feet is spot on and i ordered it every single time that I came. The lemon fish is surprisingly good, love the sour and spicy flavour. All of the dishes that I have tasted in this restaurant are above average level. Pad Thai, papaya salad, even the Thai milk tea are some of the best I have ever tasted. Would continue to visit this restaurant if they are going to maintain the food quality like now.
Came here for the pork knuckle promotion ($15.70) and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the dish. The portion size was massive, the skin was crispy and the dark meat was so tender due to the fact that it was cooking in its own fatty juices. I assume the dish is pre-cooked in some way and flash fried at the time of serving to golden perfection. The other dishes we ordered were the pineapple fried rice ($15.70) and curry puffs (8.90). The curry puffs didn't have a pronounced curry flavour at all and were tiny in portion, but the pineapple fried rice had a great 'breath of the wok' smokiness to accompany the sweet pineapple and raisins in the dish. Recommend.
Came here for the special Birthday dish "Fried Pork Knuckle" 50% off ($15.75)
The meat was so tender and the skin was crispy AF ... Promotion is running until the 26th of March. So make sure you visit soon.

Pork Knuckle : 😍 Amazing
Fried Rice : 😍 Amazing
Tom Jued Soup : 😍 Amazing
Prawn Cakes : 😍 Amazing
Service : 😍 Amazing
Tawandang’s Pork Knuckle is probably a must try if you visit here with a big appetite or with enough people to finish it. It falls right off the bone with super crispy skin and soft, tender meat. The fried rice tasted so good. It’s wasn’t too oily or too dry but just perfect with beautifully cooked prawns added in the mix. Tom Jued Soup tastes really authentic like it was sent straight from Thailand. Prawn Cakes were plump and crispy. It was quite oily, not going to lie, but it’s deep fried so what do you expect? Service was great. Attentive waiters with bright smiles. Great place to come for family dinners or date night.
Ultimately came here for their unlimited milk tea and ice tea refills, which are a total bang for your buck. Service was good as waitresses came over ready asking to refill our drinks when they were just 3/4 empty.
Food was also tasty. We ordered the pad Thai, crying tiger, warm pork larb, and the papaya salad. All the dishes were delicious and were portioned well.
Worth coming if you're hungry for a good standard of Thai food in the city and for the unlimited milk tea refills !
Went with two friends. Forgot that Larb is not just delicious, but also spicy for us white folk. Watched each other sweat. Laughed, talked, ate great food...had to ask for water and more napkins, but it was $22.30 each! All in all a great night! Thanks Tawandang!
I have been coming here so many times and the nice warm treatment I get is so touching, beautiful staff, amazing Thai food is the best Thai food- my opinion in Thai town area perhaps city, atmosphere is so relaxing enjoying meal,
I work Wynyard easy to take light rail down to Chinatown station so simple.
Thank you to Joe and staff service is very warm.
See you next week
Good food. Good service. Easy to locate. Good price. Recommended for those who wants to try thai cuisine. Bit disappointed they don’t have dessert on the time we ate there.
This was the best Thai I've ever eaten and it all was amazing in there on way. We got a variety of things and they mastered everything and the service was amazing and fast. Come to Tawandang NOW!!!!!!
If you're looking for authentic Thai food like you're going to find in Thailand, the George St branch of Tawandang will fill that need 100%. Me and my wife have eaten here many times before and the dishes never disappoint. Last time we got the grilled chicken, pork namtok (like larb but with spiced instead of minced pork), stir fried morning glory, papaya salad and Thai milk tea. All delicious!
Very nice Thai restaurant, we had a good meal here
