Got 5 dishes between two people, we weren't super hungry. The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved it here. I'd definitely come back for the yakitori again.

🥟Gyoza ($13) pork & ccabbage with soy vinegar- I loved dipping my gyoza in it.
🍄Crumbed mushrooms ($10) green tea ponzo - these were so good I joked that I could go vegetarian if I got to eat those. It reminded me of karaage chicken but with mushrooms instead.
🍗Negima ($9) chicken thigh + shallot (soy-based tare) - very tasty, juicy and grill added char tasted
🥩Saikoro ($11) grilled beef (japanese sauce) - nice and tender, yummy spices
🥩Tonton ($12) pork belly (yuzu honey) - was my least favourite because it was too charred which was all I could taste but my bf like it.

Bf review: we should go here again. The grill went very well with my beer.

Had a wonderfull experience at tokyo bird. Bill was very helpfull. Food was amazing and the beef was to die for! Really recommend this place if your looking for a great japanese food whilst enjoying a couple of beverages! A+

Been here for a few times, loving the vibe here. Small place with limited seats, it was packed even on a Monday night. I love the gyoza and cauliflower here. Lotus chips is also a must order. A great range of Japanese whisky and cocktails on offer. May get smoky inside with the yakitori being cooked on coal. But great place to visit!

I love this place! Small bar with nice cocktails. It’s cozy and music is not too loud so you can just hear people okay. Their strawberry mochi ice cream is good.

This is a nice little Japanese bar serving a wide range of drinks and yakitori. The matcha milk punch cocktail was quite good and refreshing. From the skewers menu, my favourite was the wagyu beef. I also recommend the lotus root chips, miso sweet corn and fried wings with spicy sauce. I also suggest making a reservation for groups.

Love this place for drinks and snacks. Delicious variety of grilled sticks and snacks and an interesting selection of Japanese whisky. If you're in the the area and looking for a beautiful bar for a drink or nightcap look no further

Tokyo bird has a chill vibe about it. Extensive drink menu consisting of Japanese whiskeys and more. The cocktails are delicious and Japanese inspired. I frequent this bar quite often and always enjoy the atmosphere and drinks here. The yakitori, although pricey is quite good but don’t come here thinking to eat a fully belly. It will get quite pricey! It is more of a bar to drink chill, eat some noms and chat than a restaurant.

Tokyo Bird is a small laneway bar in Surry Hills, known for its extensive collection of whisky and its yakitori menu. Not being a whisky enthusiast, I decided to settle for a cocktail instead. One sip of my Matcha milk punch cocktail and I was in heaven. It was like drinking a delicious matcha latte with a hint of alcohol, and the matcha cookie on top made it all the more irresistible.

Good vibe at this little japanese whiskey bar - would be a great place to take a mid-week date or intimate catch up. Do be warned that the booking times are quite strict and you will be moved along promptly. Decent range of vegan options.

Nice small yakitori restaurant. We enjoyed all the dishes. Staff were friendly and attentive. It can get a bit busy and honestly the seating it not that comfortable but good enough for a quick yakitori meal with a few drinks.

Overall enjoyable experience- small space with tasteful decor and a wall projection for ghibli films. Chicken thigh skewers took a while to come out but was probs the highlight. Service was nice too.

Staple spot for yummy cocktails and yakitori. Love the studio ghibli playing in the background and the ambience once it gets dark. Get in quick for the Joni Colada - rumour has it they might be switching up the menu soon!

Food was okay, drinks are good. Love the vibes there. But wasn’t good enough to get 5 star, maybe 3.5. 90 mins limitation was really disappointing especially when you are enjoying the drinks.

Been here many times and this place is always reliable for delicious izakaya food and cocktails! Nice intimate vibe with friendly and efficient service. A great place to chill, chat, drink and be merry.
