The Very Hungry Katerpilla

I came for a pre-lunch lunch (not a good idea for the stomach, excellent idea for the tastebuds) and food was delicious.
Corned beef bialy with salted cabbage, cheese and mustard. (A bialy is like a bagel, but baked instead of boiled).
It was FREAKIN' BIALYCIOUS.
Run by the same guys that do Bourke Street Bakery so I should not be surprised yet was, at how amazing the bread in both our meals were; so fresh and crispy and crackled with each bite.
The filling was perfect in every way, best flavour combo. That salted cabbage!
The suckling pig roll with crackling, mustard pickles and dill sauce, again, perfect bread and the suckling pig was melting in the mouth, with thin, perfectly crackling... crackling.
I definitely preferred the corned beef bialy to this, as the bialy packed more flavour. This was beautiful but a bit too subtle for me, more seasoning on the pork, tangier pickles, stronger sauce. I like to be punched in the face. By food. Just to be clear. Please do not punch me in the face if you see me. Faultless cooking of the suckling pig though, so tender and melting and crispy and I got the most delicious creamy chunk of fat. Mmmm..
Honey, soy and banana smoothie was thick as and very nice, a meal in itself, really.
Watermelon, mint and ginger frappe was pretty and refreshing.
Run by the guys behind Bourke St Bakery, this open seating cosy nook is situated in a laneway which reminded me of the cafes in Melbourne. If you’re looking for quality food, friendly service and great value then Wilbur’s Place is just the place to be. The food here is rustic and there’s a homely feel to the place.
This place epitomises llankelly place. Small, few options but mixing it up all the time. Good local feel, same staff all the time who certainly know their menu and wine. It's the kind of place you go for a sneaky midweek feed and end up downing 2 bottles! Oh and it's really cheap!
We went to Potts Point for a small café in an alley called Wilbur’s Place. The menu is the usual modern rustic dishes with quite a long name. In Wilbur’s Place, the name isn’t quite as long!
Wilbur’s place is probably one of the better brunch cafes that we have ever tasted in Sydney.
Worth visiting. We came here for breakfast based upon the reviews and weren't disappointed. The staff made us feel welcome, happily swapped us to a better table when it came free and the food was really good. The greasy spoon is a big, big dish, worth the money, but the black pudding was absolutely delicious. My dish was the mushrooms with pancetta and poached eggs. There's a reason why it regularly sells out - it was sublime. The eggs combined with the saltiness of the pancetta (which was thin, crispy but not dry or burnt) perfectly complimented the assorted mushrooms served on sourdough. Loved it and we left two clean plates. The venue is down a little laneway, slightly off the Kings Cross beat-and-track. Worth a visit, for sure
Good size brunch menu and all day breakfast is always a win. Overall I really enjoyed the food here; it was tasty, presented well and not complicated. The service was fine as was the ambiance which made for an enjoyable casual brunch session. I’ll be back to try the rest of their brunch menu and possibly venture out for dinner.

It changes from time to time and is quite different from the dinner menu that is displayed on their website, so if you’re not a creature of habit, then it’s perfect! The only common factor to all menus are the desserts/sweets, so I guess I’ll get to try the custard tart next time!
Wilbur’s is simple but imaginative, so it’s quite sad to see poor execution letting everyone down. The service is affable and the prices are very kind to all and sundry; I’ve just got my fingers crossed that the kitchen simply has the start-up jitters and will soon develop into
Went to check out Wilbur's Place recently and thought it was definitely worth a visit. Very reasonably priced, good quality tasty food in a refreshingly relaxed indoors/outdoorsy bistro. Service is friendly but not smothering

Fresh mandarin juice $3.50 House cloudy lemonade $3.50 Prosciutto w/ red wine poached pear $15 The poached pears had absorbed the flavours of the red wine, a simple yet elegant entree to start off with. This salad was delicious with the sweetened roast beets and the gooey poached egg. Great vibe, well portioned, flavoursome food. Would definitely drop in again! But only during the warmer months as all seating is outside. So on a day like today (grey, dull, constant rain) they wouldn't fare so well at all.
The suckling pig was great, the lamb was great and the simplicity and freshness of the green beans was the perfect side.
A little disappointed with the ice cream sandwich though. A little too much bread for my liking.
This is the kind of place you wish every neighbourhood had. Superb food with a focus on seasonal ingredients, the food is well priced and the service is friendly and relaxed. Great drinks list plus the option to BYO is perfect for a special bottle. Oh, and they do take away too!
Came here the other night and it's such a great laneway casual dining restaurant! Friendly staff and their mushroom orecchiette was divine! Lots of flavour and perfect with the freshly grated parmesan :) Oh and their peanut butter brioche sandwich is a real treat!
Will have a post up on my food blog soon so watch the space on - When the world stops spinning :)
I might say I almost like this place better than Room 10. I know, I know, blasphemy. But Wilbur's has proper tables and a nice benchtop for the single ladies who brunch (holla!). I got here early-ish on a Saturday and they were still relatively buzzy, which was great to see. I got the hot chocolate (which was to die for - so rich) and a lovely open-faced egg sandwhich with panchetta.
Cheerful service and great food. Can't ask for too much more in a good brunch spot.
Great food and wine - only here for another few weeks!
Brought to you by the people who brought us Bourke St Bakery, Wilburs Place is a great place to stop for breakfast. A delightfully cheese filled Croque Monsieur is our choice for breakfast along with an excellent espresso. The 20 seater is licenced (not that we needed to utilise that at breakfast) and also serves lunch and dinner.
