This is located in the food court of Barangaroo International tower 2. Very crowded during lunch time.
Excellent food.
I have tried roti canai ,Chicken curry n laksa.. everything tastes excellent.
Tried their laksa with fried fish and it came with some fried tofu, which was a bonus surprise! Food was delicious and price was reasonably cheap.
The curry laksa was decent and not too pricey for 'Barangaroo' standard though the serving is smaller than food served elsewhere. The Ipoh hor fun was okay but was a bit towards the sweet side - which makes it less authentic. However, the noodle had a hint of burnt smell (the authentic way). Overall, the food was fine. Would love to try the nasi lemak next.
Aside from the massive crowd & chaos at lunch time, and the cardboard bowls and cutlery, the food & drinks are quite good. I had the seafood laksa, about a 10 mins wait for the order, then have to battle the crowd to find a sit inside the foodcourt (too cold for outside). Authentic in that it's both hokkien & Vermicelli noodle base, good amount of mixed seafood, the laksa soup was on the spicy side rather than sweet. Very enjoyable. The lemon tea was sweet & refreshing
Ipoh Town offers the delectable hainanese chicken which can be perfectly matched with their own house blended milktea. The milkteas are worth having (though would've been better if they come with pearls).
Have had the laksa here 3 times and was spot on every time- one of the best in Sydney, yum!
I also tried the Wat Ton Hor which is good too. I'll definitely be back.
Was very surprised by the chicken rice. It was very nice, close to what you might find in Singapore. They give you the option of breast or thigh meat (you don't even need to ask). P.S. THIGH is the correct answer. The rice was flavourful, the chicken tender and the chilli sauce (i.e. the most important bit) was on point!!
I can't say about the other dishes (yet to try) but based off the highly impressive chicken rice I am sure to be back.
Edit** been back to try the Ipoh hor fun. Of course, not really what you can get in Ipoh, but it was nice! Still prefer the chicken rice though.
Edit*** cendol has the correct flavours but the ice is too hard which impacts on the balance.
Located in the "canteen" underneath Tower 2 at Barangaroo Ipoh provides good relative value in an area where everything is expensive. The hainanese chicken was really nice with ginger flavoured rice, tender chicken served with a soup for $12. My colleague got the nasi lemak and it looked really good too. Also you can order on Hey You app and pick up and go(skip the queue).
Char kway teow (if thats how you spell it) here is really good. Definitely fills you up although they could put more meat in it.
Hainan chicken here is better than other outlets although not much so, recommend the noodle dishes definately over the rice dishes.
By far still the best laksa I've had in Sydney! The laksa tastes just like the York St branch and if not more tastier. I couldn't stop eating it the soup even though I was full. Ipoh is found within the new foodcourt of Barangaroo. It didn't take long for my order to be made & as it is in the foodcourt, it was easy to find a seat to enjoy my laksa as well!
Still good - would recommend the laksa over the Ipoh Hor fan
Hainanese chicken rice comes with a lovely chilli sauce, portion could be bigger
Such good food! Especially the Prawn Noodles. However, the lady at the register taking orders was constantly on her phone and was a bit harsh and rude when taking orders from customers. After taking orders from customers, she immediately went back on her phone. :(
