Quite small for a zoo but still plenty of animals on offer for viewing. Very educational and is a pleasant walk of about 2 to 3 hours for the whole place. Nice for families with small kids or primary schools on a school trip.
Such a great little zoo with heaps of animals to see. The location is super convenient and easy to get to. Unfortunately we didn’t get her name but we talked to a female zookeeper who brought all the kangaroos over. We got to pet them which was incredible and she had a lot of knowledge about the animals so shout out to this amazing worker.
There are informative talks by the zoo keepers during weekends only, on other days you can scan a QR code for more info on the animals and watch the TV screens. It's located conveniently in Darling Harbor. For some of the animals, you do have to try really hard to look for them, some of them are sleeping or hiding. You wont be able to see wombat, I think they might be sleeping during the day. There is an area which says Wombat cave? But its total darkness, can't see a thing. Perhap a screen with a live night vision camera or thermal imaging camera can assure visitors there are indeed wombats in that dark abyss. Similarly in the creatures in the dark section, its very dark. Is that a rock or is that an animal? Night vision camera, thermal imagining camera, maybe more dim glow, surely there are glow worms in nature. My favourite spots are the wallabies area, kangaroos area and the koalas area. You have places to sit, relax, chill and enjoy watching the animals doing their own things without care and you quickly forgets you are in the middle of a busy city.
