Another awesome dining experience! Great service and brilliant food. The charcuterie was really good. As usual we reserved our favourite, the Cote de boeuf to avoid disappointment. Cooked medium rare it was the highlight of our dinner. Duck confit was delicious the skin was crispy and flavour and meat was tender. Both desserts were delicious as well

District Brasserie has slotted into the ground floor of Chifley Plaza so neatly, it feels like it has always been there. This is in part due to Paul Kelly’s expertise in interior design.Kelly has employed classical design cues, from aged brass to polished green marble, to create a timeless space that is both elegant, and easy to sink into, rather like the splayed-leg, tan leather tub chairs. District Brassiere is also the culmination of two decades of experience in retail food and beverage across three states for John Vissaritis. For Vissaritis, who co-owns the 200-seater space with Sam Loutfi, the restaurant represents scaling down into a life that is “now about heart and family.” As if to illustrate his point, he's called away from our table when his family arrive to eat. With the post-work crowd confined to create hubbub in the centre’s soaring atrium, I take the edge off my own workday with the Emerald Summer ($17). It's an...
Head Chef Mark Knox brings his magic out to venue, District Brasserie located at the bottom of Chiefly Square. For the corporate suits that work in Chiefly Tower, they would be aware of the two areas of District Brasserie, there's the cafe and bakery and secondly also the bar and restaurant areas of District Brasserie. I personally don't work in Chiefly Tower so I was pleasantly surprised to check this venue out on a Friday night as date night with MW.
Very friendly and attentive service without being over the top. The open kitchen was captivating to watch whilst our food was being prepared. The food itself was OUTSTANDING!!!! Complex yet simple flavours that were presented beautifully. The meat was divine. Tender and soft and cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was amazing! Never had anything like it. We will definitely be back.
I haven't been out in the City for quite a while, so it takes somewhere a bit special to lure me into the CBD - and District Brasserie hit the mark as an urban cool but relaxed dining experience. Visually, the place is wonderful with its bar and open kitchen area, and the service made sure it was an very enjoyable evening; unpretentious, and attentive without being intrusive. And then the food - a veritable explosion of flavours and in combinations that I hadn't experienced before, which made each plate a talking point with lots of "ooh, you must try this!" going on. I love the care that has gone into sourcing the ingredients. And did I mention the free parking? That is unheard of in the evening in the centre of the City, a fabulous added bonus. A great experience all round, and one which we will be happy to repeat.
I rarely write reviews but this was so good I had to share. We popped in for a drink at the bar but once I saw the menu and fully open kitchen I had to try the food and my partner agreed.
The kitchen is a huge L-Shaped bar with a bakery at one end, plating area in the middle and a large, and apparently, very hot charcoal oven at the other.
For entree we order ceviche of king fish which was mind boggling. The flavours were intense yet perfectly balanced.
I had the lamb for main and my partner had the gnocchi. Both dishes were presented with finesse. The lamb was succulent and tender and my partners gnocchi was better than mamas.
Highly recommended. Don't forget to check out the wine list too. They have a fantastic selection and overall it was great value. We'll definitely be back.
Food A+ Service A+ Venue + Free Parking after 6pm A+++
We came and tried District Brasserie as we had heard good thing and the free parking after 6pm sealed the deal as it is hard to find parking in the city when you want to go out.
We were greeted warmly and shown to our table by the Maitre De who wasted no time in offering us a drinks menu.
The cocktails are superb and a must try!
The ambiance is relaxed with nice back ground music playing and the restaurant has a great vibe. There is a large bar in the middle that you can sit at to eat and drink. (We'll have to try that next time) And the kitchen is huge and completely open so that you can see absolutely EVERYTHING the chefs are doing which is very cool.
When I asked our waiter explained to me about the Spanish Charcoal oven they have that works at 400 degrees that they use to cook their meat.
As such I order the short back rib which was absolutely amazing. It looks like a slab of mud cake and was presented very well. The meat was super tender and the accompaniments and sauce were perfect. I only wish there was more.
We did have the charcuterie platter as well before that which had a delicious house made pate along with duck prosciutto and other items. That is a must order to share in my opinion.
The wifes meal was also fantastic. Just too bad she didn't share more of it with me!!
District Brasserie is a must try. The ease of parking is a massive plus but the food, service and overall feel of the restaurant are the stars here!!
Amazing food! Amazing and attentive service!.. plenty on the plate and the flavours are incredible. The open kitchen is just so gorgeous and the very unique charcoal oven did amazing things to the flavour of the lamb. Executive Chef Mark Knox is an absolute magician and the owners are on the floor making sure that their restaurant is top notch. thanks for an amazing experience.
It has own bakery facilities I guess so I was looking forward to try their baked goods rather than restaurant. For pastries/sweets, they have good variety. I went with handsome looking coffee eclair. Coffee custard inside wasn’t too sweet and I like it but glazing was a bit overly sweet! I expected a bit more from choux pastry, but it was decent at least! I would return to try other pastries. Very attentive service.
An elegantly stunning venue aiming to cater to the higher-end business people of the CBD. Wether it’s for early morning coffee and pastries, business lunches or post work romantic (or non-romantic) dinners District Brasserie has it all. Food and drinks get a massive tick and if it wasn’t for two scales this would have been a perfect venue for 2017. This venue is definitely a successful sum of its talented parts. I will return.
