I've always loved Made in Italy as they hold the bar pretty high for me in terms of classic Italian so it was great to visit its latest inception, 'Next Door'. Great 90s tracks set the atmosphere, a fully equipped bar to warm up the pallette before a night of pizza and pasta.
Cocktails:
MADE AT YORK LANE - apricot, citrus and rosemary infused Bombay Sapphire is deadly. It's the kind of cocktail that will creep on you where you end up dancing on top of the tables.

GIRL NEXT DOOR - has the same nice peachey colour except is Bacardi with Watermelon, and Cucumber weaved through. Perfect choices for summer nights with a nice freshness to them.

Mains:
We had the MAMA MIA with gnocchi - it's italian sausage with cream, chilli and napoletana sauce. I actually prefer my pastas with a bit of heat and really enjoyed this.

The CARBONARA is the classic comfort dish and is done well here. - creamy pearly sauce with smoky bacon mixed through in an aldente pasta - so good.

The GAMBERI pizza with prawn, oregano, chilli flakes was awesome, nice crust and nice combination of flavours singing through each slice.

Great service from our host Mauritzio, excellent wait times from ordering and top quality food.

Holy moly this is probably my most favourite pizza place so far.. loving the thin crust and jam packed flavour in every pasta. The lasagna was probably one of the creamiest and smoothest I’ve ever had. I always forget to take a photo here!! The food distracts me when it comes out..

Next door is a really cute little nook that is literally next door to 'Made in Italy'. If I am not mistaken they serve the same pizzas from there!
I really enjoyed the pizzas we ordered which included the magherita, tricolore, gamberi, contadina, and the calabrese. I loved the hints of heat on the gamberi, and the way that the flavours from the sausage was able to shine on the calabrese. The thin crust, and generous toppings really made the pizzas great - seriously there wasn't much crust at all. Personally I loved the tricolore, gamberi and calabrese! The happy hour is so so so worth it as well with $10 medium pizzas. Service was wonderful and the staff had good banter with us too :) Definitely recommend for a cheap but seriously tasty bite in the city.

If you’re getting a pasta, get the Mamma Mia.
If you’re getting a pizza, get the Gambreto.
If you’re getting a drink, make it a double. With ice.

I love Made in Italy so suggested Next Door for lunch with my friend.

I ordered the Capriccioso pizza and she had the lasagna.

The pizza was delicious with a nice crispy base, great sauce, a hit of chilli and loads of toppings.

My friend didn't like her meal as much as she thought her lasagna was very dry. She couldn't finish it due to that.

Generally, Made in Italy/Next Door does great pasta bit this is probably the stuff they made fresh.

Service: friendly, casual, served at the bar, no table service.
Ambience: dim lit, cosy
Food: Whatever you do just get the gnocchi. If you like thin crust pizzas, you'll love this place. The wait for the food is less than 15 minutes. The food is from Made in Italy - Next Door CBD is from the guys who own Made in Italy. And Next Door CBD is next door to Made in Italy... (what a great name for a restaurant!). So if you like the pastas and pizzas from Made in Italy, you'll indeed love the food Next Door!
Crowd: on a Friday night, it's populated and since the space itself is small
Amenities: clean
Prices: your typical CBD price tag - $20-25 per dish for dinner, they have a $10 pizza happy hour special though, so you will save $8-10 if you go from 5-6pm.
Based on these qualities, I give the restaurant a 5/5.

Well hidden within York Lane, really not somewhere you would accidentally walk pass & discover. Mid week dinner with a big group, our organiser found this place on the Internet. Not to be mistaken with the Made in Italy next door, this place has more of a bar/bistro vibe. Our group pretty much taken over most of the dinning room. The food came out pretty quickly. We had a range of pizza for the table, and a few pasta. I had the Pescatore pasta, which was mixed seafood with garlic, chilli in a Napoli sauce. The sauce & the pasta was nice, the seafood was a bit scrappy and was mostly fish. However kudos to the place for offering gluten free pasta, my colleague tried it with pesto chicken and was happy with it. Overall, the food is about average, but the atmosphere was great.

Nestled in York Lane, among the construction work sites of Wynyard station, is one of Sydney’s newest bars. Next Door is, as the name suggests, next door to Made in Italy and works in tandem with the pizzeria. The interior of the bar is a lot more spacious than the entry door leads you to believe. When you walk in, it opens up into the dining area and bar on the left. Straight ahead is a huge mural of Ice Cube and Chris Tucker from the movie Friday, holding a slice no less.

“After nine months in the D.A. stage and 1.5 years trying to get it approved by Liquor, we finally as of two weeks ago opened our doors,” explains Simon Fadous, who also co-owns Made In Italy with Sergio Checchi. Despite the entranceway mural of a muzzled bright pink balloon dog on the leash of a cap-wearing leather man (which might have you thinking you’re heading into something else entirely), this tiny back-lane basement-style bar seems pretty benign. Kicking back with an icy Made in York Lane ($16) – their rosemary-infused Bombay Sapphire and Aperol aperitivo – it’s hard to see why a quiet post-work drink and pizza proved so troubling to Baird’s bungling bureaucracy.Set right next door to Made In Italy on York Lane, this venue was designed to give people a more pleasant laneway seating option than milk crates while eating one of their pizzas. The proximity means you’ll get your patriotic Tricolore Pizza ($18/medium) piping hot – much better than delivery, no? Crisp green rocket leaves, white flakes of shaved Parmesan cheese and red cherry tomatoes adorn this thin-based pizza, flavoured with chilli flakes, garlic and oregano. Working the same three shades, a well-dressed Bocconcini Salad ($15) with crisp cucumbers, mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes and tiny balls of cheese is a nice counterpoint. Taking over a vacant storage room, this tiny bar actually...

Being almost literally "next door" from Made in Italy, this little sit-in dining area and bars name makes absolute sense. The place has a very chill hip-hop vibe and service is so friendly and great. Perfect kind of atmosphere for catching some after-work dinner and drinks. Next Door is now my new go-to for really great and classic Italian dishes full of flavour and love in each bite. My friend and I ordered the Gamberi (prawn) pizza, Mamma Mia gnocchi, and Bocconcini salad. By the end of our meal we were so full and satisfied. Everything was fresh, humble and delicious!

Absolutely lovely pizza place tucked away in an alley. The pizza is fresh, the seasoning is perfect and it shows through the customers they have on any weekday night. I love how you can get half half, I had half Gamberi (prawns) and half Suprema and both were beautiful in their own ways. We got the large and it was more than enough for two hungry adults after work! Beautiful and would absolutely come back again

What a Fantastic little place. Great atmosphere, and pizzas are spot on. Arrived with a hungry family after sightseeing without reservations and although busy, they squeezed us in. Service was great and food arrived promptly.

A nice little Italian restaurant bar with relatively affordable prices in the CBD area. Had a pizza, carbonara pasta and a schnitzel. My favourite was the pasta but the others taste pretty decent as well, though I've had better for sure. Overall, don't mind coming back.

Nice little place for some good Italian food. It is located super close to Wynyard station, in a dark alleyway (to be honest, it would probably be a little creepy at night). The restaurant has a small amount of seats (but wasn't too busy when we came, so it wasn't a problem), and a bar seating area. The menu had a few options where you choose your type of pasta (pretty standard). We got the arancini (mushroom) and I got the pesto pasta. The serving sizes for the pastas were pretty large and we both weren't able to finish! The food was decent, but probably could have had more sauce and flavours. The arancini balls were good - no complaints. Prices were good. Service was quick too - I think they have the kitchen area next door and the staff were very efficient.

We came for a team function dinner and we are so glad we did! Super friendly service, a nice little arcade away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. Amazingly cheap pizzas during happy hour and they’re amazing! Have sent so many people here since!
