I really recommend this cafe. Not too pretentious in comparison to other eastern suburb cafes, not too expensive. Great selection of coffees and drinks (I recommend their chillter, which is iced filtered coffee). We went in a busy period, and even though there were 10+ people waiting outside, the staff were fast and service was overall good. Food is good value, but my one criticism is the tacos are a bit small for their price? One other note is all of the floor staff are weirdly attractive... must only employ european models by the looks of things ha-haaaa
This place is far more than just a cafe. It is rich with some of the most creative and delicious healthy food options i've ever come across. I eat at the healthiest places I can whenever I travel and I've never discovered anything quite at this level. One of few places that can accompany anyone who enjoys delicious food and choses to eat vegan, paleo, low carb/keto, etc. The bulletproof coffee is easily the best I've ever had with various options including adding protein powder to your cup. I am usually up to date with the latest nutrition / health information and studies. Ruby's is ahead of the curve and it doesn't even come across as a healthy restaurant. What I mean by this is you don't get the vibe that it's a bunch of "health nuts" for lack of a better term. Keep up the great work guys.
The bulletproof coffee here is life changing. It is smooth and velvety, without losing the rich, aromatic taste of traditional coffee. I’ve tried a few other bulletproof coffee since this place and nothing quite compares. Strongly recommend!
Food wise, I had the taco. I had asked to take out the bacon as I do not eat meat, which they gladly did, but it wasn’t replaced by anything else. It’s still a good portion if you are not too hungry. They did not go light on the avocado as some places would, and the tortilla was well done. I would come back to try out some of their other food items which looked really interesting.
This place also sits in a quiet neighbourhood in Waverley, and the overall decor is very calm and relaxing, making it seem like a local staple. Staff was friendly but service was a little inattentive.
Great service, amazing consistent food and coffee.
If I feel like something healthy I can always count on this cafe, that being said they do have indulgent treats if I'm feeling the need to treat myself! Something for all the family aswell.
Great social place and close to westfield. All food are amazing here, especially the vegeterian salad. Follow me on instagram @ cissythescorpio
This busy little cafe serves some great breakfast dishes. Although it can be a little expensive ($22 for two tacos), the food is usually good quality. The coffee was average and the service was good too. It's not far from where I am staying, so I'm sure I'll be back in the future.
Nice little cafe. Very good atmosphere and great service. There are plenty of staff walking around actively looking for ways they can help.
The coffee was very good. And the granola breakfast was great - crunchy, sweet and soft braised fruit. It was just a little dry, so I asked for extra yoghurt. They brought it at no extra charge.
Ruby’s Diner has a sort of pirate hideaway feel to it. A bright, coastal pirate hideaway that is. Or maybe it’s just the treasure map mural on the back wall that’s sent me all Captain Jack Sparrow. It’s a narrow space, opening out onto the footpath, but the atmosphere is undeniably buzzy.
Be prepared for some serious queue navigation and best avoided entirely if you’re prone to hanger blackouts. Arriving at 11:30am on Sunday we weren’t eating until 12:45pm.
But the Ruby’s BLA-Taco was worth the wait – an ultra fresh concoction of scrambled eggs with tomato, bacon, avocado, coriander sauce and baby spinach in a soft blue corn taco. Overall, the all-day breakfast and lunch from 11:30am menus definitely have a health angle to them. Think sugar-free, gluten-free and plenty of appearances of kale, chia and quinoa.
The coffee is also on-point. If the big boys coffee machine dominating the counter doesn’t spell that out, coffee beans sourced from local Sydney posterchild Single Origin Roasters does. And the local love doesn’t stop there, with Bronte’s Iggy’s Bread, Egganic eggs, Penny Fours pastries and Pic’s peanut butter also all in rotation.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
+4
Ruby's Diner has been the darling of Waverley for a while now and still seems to be going just as strong, if not stronger. With a long street front and an indoor-outdoor setting it has just the right amount of urban appeal. It was of course busy on our visit - unsurprisingly. . There were four of us and it was lunch time so the sandwiches grabbed the most attention with all three options on the menu being chosen. The Hambo is of course a ham based sandwich that also has cheese and tomato. It's clearly a more traditional option. The Vego on the other hand is a bit more quirky with roast carrot puree, crushed chickpeas, mint, parsley and feta. Both were big and tasty and arrived quickly after ordering.
This is a hip little cafe located just down the road from Charing Cross on Bronte Rd. It always has people on the communal and separate dining tables. With oceanic/pirate artwork on the walls and a very open and light atmosphere this place screams coastal chilled vibe and I love it. Dropped in for lunch mid-week and there were a couple of people knocking out work in the beautiful weather and enjoying the music and coffee. The menu is not massive and is very healthy, however, the fact that breakfast is served until 3pm and there are traditional lunch eats means that there will be something for most. I went the Ruby’s beef burger but was almost swayed lemon thyme chicken sandwich or the lamb shoulder. This burger was scrumptious. At $19 it is was a more expensive price tag than other similar options else where and there are definitely cheaper options on the menu as well. A hot tip is to grab one of these bad boys for sure. Also, In line with their health kick they also sell bottles of kombucha and other homemade goodies. Parking can be tricky, but if you head down a side street you should be ok to jag a park and walk on up. Be it eating in or grabbing take away - you have a good option in Ruby’s.
