I will always order the Spaghetti Carbonara ($16) whenever I see it on the menu, with the hope of it being the decadent Italian variety made with nothing but cheese and eggs, rather than the cream-laden atrocity that normally comes out. And while I’ve been disappointed many times, this one was a bullseye. Each strand of pasta was coated in an obscenely rich and smoky sauce, topped with fatty pieces of salted pancetta, and a twist of freshly cracked black pepper. It’s the best carbonara I’ve had in Sydney to date, and probably even the best since my very first ‘real’ carbonara.
After a few hours of shopping inside Westfield on Pitt Street Mall, we decided to grab a quick bite at Ragu at level 5 food court. In a way it is an unusual location for an Italian restaurant but a quick glance of the menu reinforced our decision. . The menu features a good selection of antipasto, pasta, salad and dessert. There is also a daily special menu, just to make the option a bit harder to narrow down. Proscuitto e Mozzarella had two of our favourite items and would usually be a go-to dish for us. But on this occasion we went for South Australian black mussels Zuppa di Cozze instead ($16). It was not bad portion for the price point, accompanied by chargrilled sourdough.

We loved this restaurant! Their pasta is delicious, we loved the pappardelle pasta with bolognese sauce. The service was also very good and the food came out very quickly.
Good Italian menu and wine list. Based on level 5 of Westfield. Sit on the bar seats and you almost forget that you are in a good court with the Italian staff and good wine display behind the bar. Worth a visit for a limited time food stop when sitting at a food court table just won’t cut it.

The service was good and they have their own little seating area so you don't have to try and find a seat during the lunch time rush.
Prices were fair and the serving sizes are quite filling.

Great service. Multiple staff checked up on us and made sure that we were constantly looked after. We got a vegan pizza which was amazing because not many places offer vegan cheese.
Ragu is nestled in the popular Westfield Shopping Mall in the CBD of Sydney. The menu offers a range of traditional Italian food. We had walked past many times before and one Saturday night we decided to drop in and give the restaurant a try. To start we ordered the Antipasto all’ Italiana that consisted of a range of both hot and cold antipasto dishes; mini arancini, fried calamari, fried mozzarella, salami and prosciutto, Italian cheese and marinated capsicum, zucchini, artichoke, olives, eggplant and onion. This was a great way to whet the appetite. The variety was huge and the crispy yet soft texture of the fried mozzarella was a winner in particular.

So if you work in the city this is a good lunch time option. A bit pretentious but still a great feed. Haven't tried the table service, only the take away food court option hence the five stars. Give is a go
