I had a very tasty and creamy salmon tart. The coffee was hot and creamy but lacked body. Both seemed expensive but it's a good place.

This cafe deserve full star recommendation.
I’m giving this cafe 5 stars because:

1. The are famous for their cheese cake, and the pastry that I’ve tried today... it was out of this world.
My Apple turn over was nicely glazed, sweet and slightly tanginess from the apple, which I assumed Granny Smith apple, cooked to perfections, still have a bite to it and ration between pastry and feeling, just right.
2. They served a good coffee, everything is just perfect, form the caffeine dosage through the perfect milk temperature.
3. Quick service, friendly and come with smile.
Efficient service even though cafe was busy at 11.30pm, well done!

Keep up good work guys!

Walked past this cake shop and was drawn into it by the delicious looking cakes and pastries they had on display. Although the window shows off these creations, entrance is via a door that they co-exist with PYD so once we found the entrance we got to order one of their treats.

The display cabinets were brimming with all sorts of well presented desserts and choosing one turned into a difficult choice. Staff on hand were friendly and patient whilst we made our choice. Ultimately got the Tarte Aux Fruits Des Bois which translates to fruits of the forest pie. The sweet little tart is filled with creamy creme pattissiere and topped with mixed berries and other fruit like grapes and kiwi fruit. The pastry tart was short and crumbly and enjoyed the dessert as a whole.

These desserts are good!

Le Renaissance Patisserie and Cafe offers a premium selection of savoury and sweet desserts. The Waterloo cafe is located in the PYD building. There is seating available inside to dine. There is parking onsite and off street parking available.

I wanted to grab some desserts for take away as we were still full from lunch. There was a visually appealing display of full sized cakes and individual cakes. I couldn't decide so I ordered a variety of tasty treats. I ordered the Tarte au citron, pear danish, custard cruffin, Tarte aux fruits, Le roi soleil and Monet.

Everything was yummy! The Tarte au citron was tangy but not overpowering. Very moreish. The lemon curd was smooth and creamy. The short crust pastry was sweet and thin but enough to enjoy. It was firm and delicious.

The pear danish was yummy. It was buttery, crispy, and a good ratio of pear to pastry. The pear was soft and yummy paired with the creamy vanilla creme. Not many places make a good danish and this place definitely makes a yummy one.

The cruffin is a cross between a croissant and a muffin. It was good! Crispy, buttery and the vanilla creme was plentiful. It was smooth, creamy and not very sweet.

The Tarte aux fruits was topped with seasonal fruits. The fruit was fresh and the vanilla creme was creamy, not very sweet, and yummy. The pastry was firm but good.

The Le roi soleil had a smooth and creamy mango and mandarin mousse. It wasn't very sweet which I liked about the desserts.

The monet - white chocolate bavarois with raspberry and lychee jelly. It was rich and creamy, and wasn't very sweet. Yummy.

The female who served me didn't seem interested nor did she explain what pastries were hanging in the basket behind her until I asked her again.

Verdict: I will definitely be back to try the other desserts and maybe try their savoury meals and hopefully customer service will be better on my next visit.

My 6th time at La Renaissance in Waterloo and we can't just eat their delicious pastries without taking more home. My absolute favourite is their Almond croissant which I can truly say, you don't need to be in Paris to find such delicate delight. Très délicieux

As a French addicted to cakes and pastries I was already looking at some bakery names before coming to Sydney. And a French friend of Jean Michel Raynaud ( excellent French chef) told me to go straight to la Renaissance Patisserie if I wanted to feel like home. Just few weeks after I moved to Waterloo a new Renaissance Patisserie shop opened their doors in Waterloo, I saw it as a sign that I needed to try these French cakes directly.

All the cakes their look likes the best ones you can find in the fancy bakeries in Paris.

I decided to buy a croissant and a pain au chocolat, which are the basics for French people. They were good but not as much as the cakes according to me. They were a bit overcooked for my taste. But they were still fluffy and crunchy so very enjoyable.

I tried the Roi soleil, which is made with mango and mandarin mousse with coconut cremeux and crunchy almond nougatine. This one was really good and fresh. And the same day I also tried the Goya made with a Raspberry mouse, passion fruit cremeux. SO GOOD. This is just the review of a French girl who loved baking and who love cakes!

So if you want to know what French cakes taste like, just drop by to one of their shop and you will travel to France by eating just one cake!

I came here to pick up a cake for tonight and the Monet ($38) caught my eye. Apparently this is the most popular cake.

I also tried their hot chocolate which I found weak in flavour and their pistachio scroll which was something different from the usual escargot with raisins.

My family all enjoyed the cake as it was light and not too heavy. I liked the raspberry and lychee layer inside the cake.

I'm a big fan of the cakes at La Renaissance in The Rocks and it's great they've well established themselves now in Waterloo which is closer to home for me. Even though all the cakes looked great on display I was in need of a quick savoury eat for my late lunch. Reuben Sandwich ($10) was premade and packaged and I chose to get it toasted. Was a tasty eat with simple enjoyable flavours on nice bread. Was served with a rocket and tomato salad on the side that was well dressed. Service was friendly and love the high ceiling space filled with natural light here with a fair amount of seating. There's customer parking inside the building which is great to know about if you can't find any street parking or handy if it's raining as there's direct access to the cafe from the car park. For those with babies there's a parent toilet with wall mounted baby table on level 1 which I actually need to use on this particular visit for my 2 year old.

In need of coffee, and perhaps a little snack, we stopped by here. We actually did a macaron class here years ago, so we know the quality of the pastries and they really are beautiful creations. We decided to go with a little less sugar and decadence this Saturday morning and so just had a palmier (which my family called ‘palm ears’ when I was growing up; I’m not sure whether they were joking or not) and a croissant.

Jul21 update: Good pastries. However the flat white $4 this time round was weak and lacked flavour. Lovely selection of pastries and cakes. Reasonably quick service. The quality was good.

Brilliant Coffee I never go anywhere else and are always disappointed when I am forced to buy one anywhere else. Love the new pizzas too they are all delicious. My favourite is the Onion, anchovy and olive!!!! Back at La Renaissance again and again brilliant latte coffee and this time tried the Chicken pie - sensational - will be back again when next in Sydney!

Great selection of beautiful cakes and price is reasonable. Pastries are fresh and love the shepherd pies, coffees are great. I don't know why they have to charge for ketchup though when dine in... Quiche was too eggy for me. Love the packaging and we eill be back for more cakes!

Delicious cakes, purchased takeaway during lockdown. Looks spacious inside - can't wait to come back for table service. Variety bit limited and not as much variety and The Rocks store.

Pastry delight but service not so... The pastries here are truly très bien and cannot be faulted whatsoever. Being one to visit the store at the rocks on plenty of occasions. Sadly the customer service isn't quite on par as its rocks counterpart. Having to repeat your order as some bits were missing and having to process new transactions. As you were served by a less than an enthused staff member, puts a bit of a damper on the experience at the waterloo store. Hopefully, it was just a bad day for that person but I am less inclined to go to this location.

You haven't had a croissant until you've had one of theirs. On that note, you haven't had a cinnamon scroll until you've had one of theirs. Finally found a baker who understands that people want cinnamon in their cinnamon scrolls.
