Came on my 21st for a nice breakfast. Was immediately in love with the decor and service. Easily the best tasting breakfast I've ever had. Will return and recommend!
Beautiful place. The staff are so friendly. We have a young child with us and we felt very welcomed. Thank you for the great experience. Oh of course the food was delicious! Save your stomach for the cakes!
I normally hate going to “institution” cafes, or cafes that exist solely for instagram. My friend suggested this place for a pre-work breakfast.
I was very very pleasantly surprised. All the ingredients were fresh and quality. The gluten free bread was DIVINE. Similarly my friend said his dish was delicious.
Minus 1 star because they fill out your cups on the table with a roaming jug which is a bit weird, and because I really don’t like The Grounds Roaster coffee beans (meaning I didn’t like their coffee).
Great place to eat as always, but was disappointed this time as I tried calling the day before and on the day to book and the line kept on disconnecting and wasn't working so we had to wait around 1.5 hours to get a table. Other than that, great food, great service, great vibes and ambience. Excellent place to eat in the city as always.
I saw that the strawberry cake here was delicious, so I came.Sure enough, there was no thunder. The cake was soft and delicious.Suggest to come here to eat the guys hungry stomach over, first eat some meat to eat full, then to eat dessert, then you will eat very satisfied, help the wall and out, ha ha
If you want to have a decent coffee in a nice place, you should visit.make sure you have plenty of time though, because some days the waiting time is long.
I’d say the Grounds of the City is the best cafe in Sydney CBD and has the best cafe interior in Australia. Their popular desserts are as divine as the ambience. It’s called 👉🏼Key Lime Baked Alaska with brown butter caramel, rum raisin ice-cream and toasted lime meringue.
Refreshments & coffees are also top notch. Didn’t expect rose petals for the orange & cherry soda and basil for the classic lemonade but why not? Recommend the classic lemonade after a heavy meal. I give this place 4 bears
We came here for a belated valentine's dinner and we were really happy with our choice. The staff were super friendly and the water was constantly topped up. The food was insanely delicious, I was a huge fan of the moray bugs and the pappardelle pasta with ragu. But the highlight of the meal was definitely the royal cake, which just blew us away with the flavour. 100% recommend, and it wasn't too expensive either for a slightly fancier meal.
Atmosphere is excellent, prices reasonable for location but taste was ordinary, it’s more about the experience.
Strong, hot, rich, flavoursome coffee - seemed to have the syrupy flavour lacking from the Alexandria branch. Same great food, especially the breads and pastries, and same high prices. Just as lavish a fitout but much less oriented towards tourists and families, so a much better place to my mind, despite the crowds and the slow service.
Even though we went on a weekday morning, it was still pretty packed. Luckily I booked ahead and got our seats rather quickly. Ordered the hot cakes and French toast, both of which were great! The setting had an old English train style to it which was nice but the lighting was a tad bit too dark for my liking and the crowd was rather noisy as well. However, great meal and definitely would come back again!
Wonderful, but a little bit busy
