I can't comment on the food as I haven't eaten here but they make a good coffee. They seem to have regular clients and the staff are very friendly. Prices look reasonable.
Love this place. Often come here for a late breakfast on the weekends. The food and coffee are very good and so is the service. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended.
This one visor I had definitely cannot do it justice as it's not store made but when I was visiting a friend here, the waitstaff here are really nice!

Simple Cafe in the main part of Newtown. Typical breakfast and cafe food but made quite well with large portions. The service here is amazing and it is clear there are many regulars who the employees remember. It is clear that customer service is on another personal level here!
I came here with my friend and I had the tropica chicken burger, which was delicious. It had tomato/lettuce/pineapple and was a massive burger. Definitely filled me up for lunch. I had the banana smoothie, which was good too. In addition, the service was great and the staff were friendly too. The place had great ambience and we were seated outside, enjoying the hustle and bustle of king street, in the heart of Newtown.

My Favourite Newtown Cafe. I get coffee from the 'Monkey at least once or twice a week, any excuse to sit in and soak up the casual, friendly atmosphere. The coffee is great, the menu is simple and inexpensive and the service is unbeatable. The staff are friendly and efficient, they remember your coffee and they always make sure you have fresh water and glasses at your table. All day breakfast is really good value and they have a great selection of sandwiches and burgers. My favourite order, a cheese and tomato croissant, will only set you back $4.50. Come in for the coffee, stay for the - everything else!
Good, Cheap Eats and Coffee. We got parking right outside so decided to have lunch here after reading the coffee was good. The menu is fairly small and basic, but the quality didn't disappoint. We both had the veggie burger with sweet chilli sauce, and chips. $7.50 each for the burgers and $2 for a side of chips. The burger patty was good, with fresh tasting accompaniments and a nicely toasted bun. Chips were crisp and not oily, and the coffee was very good. There's pavement seating and a toilet for anyone wanting to freshen up. Friendly staff.
Funky Monkey Espresso. The food is simple but delicious and very inexpensive. The breakfasts are fantastic and so are the burgers.
Mega Monkey Burger is the best burger in Newtown!

Amazing service, super amazing food and delectable coffee. The waiters and baristas are so so friendly and the atmosphere is great. Good for bringing your puppy along as they have a water bowl. Definitely check this place out! Star dish is Eggs Benedict, on Turkish bread even better!
My favorite place to go in Newtown for their big breakfast. The staff are super friendly... even remembering us after not going there for a few months. Prices are good and the food is delicious. Good for small groups or just on your own.
Casual and family friendly atmosphere. Modest and simple food. Great coffee. Not packed out or pretentious which is a bonus for King St.
Assume friendly service. The coffee was good and we both had a egg and bacon roll. The roll was extremely fresh and the serve was very generous.
The restroom was spotless and the whole ambience of the restaurant was great.

The food here is always good. The ladies here are fantastic characters, they always remember us though our visits are months apart and it seems they know most of the other customers. Get the banana smoothie, it's delicious.
I've dropped by the Funky Monkey a couple of times. Being at the Southern end of Newtown it's easier to find parking, especially during morning peak hour - just when the morning munchies hit.
The coffee is always good, service with a smile but the big discovery is their omelettes.
I think I've found the most PERFECTLY cooked omelette in the world! Really! They are that good. If you don't believe me, try one yourself.
Love this place. Very well priced. The staff are lovely. Possibly the most popular cafe servicing many of the local Newtown shop owners each day. Great selection of typical brekky/lunch options. It's not fancy fare but rather things like bacon and egg roll, hamburger, salad sandwiches, croissants. I think at a time where so much of Newtown is trendy/unrecognisable/ hard to pronounce deconstructed dishes made up of bacon mousse, tumeric essence bites, truffle breads etc food - people just keep coming back here for reliably good food (the way it used to be) :) Customers are always down to earth - the place has a chilled feel with newspapers available. Definitely recommend!!!
Chicken wraps and banana bread here are the best! Super duper friendly staff and really great food, best place to eat in Sydney! Could not recommend more
Cafe in Newtown. Lovely style funky in Newtown. Friendly staffs. Good coffee and breakfasts. Peaceful and enjoyable areas. Don't forget to try Mixed berry smoothies, which make me repeat to visit this cafe, almost everyday now....Oooops.!
