Tried the oyster sauce noodles. Flavour was there. The vegetables weren't great (undercooked, not fresh and tough to chew) though which I left. I also tried the pad thai which I liked and would recommend to try.
Would recommend and come back to try something else.
Tasty massaman beef curry, well cooked tender pieces of meat. Only issue is sweet potato wasn’t fully cooked and the curry sauce was too sweet and lacked coconut milk.
Quick friendly service. This place is my go to at spice alley, have eaten here multiple times and the quality is consistent. Pad see ew is my favourite. Generous portion sizing, lots of veg and extras, not just noodles. Freshly made. You won’t be disappointed. Super yummy!
Love the Pad See Ew! Meat is cooked nicely. Generous portions and great prices. Pad Thai is a bit boring compared to other places. I tend to prefer Pad Thai with wider noodles. Here they are thin almost like vermicelli.
I tried the Pad Kee Mao and it was so yummy! Highly recommend it. I loved the flavours and the spices. Was reminded of the noodles in India.
I had the roast pork belly with boiled egg and it was so delicious. the pork was well cooked and the serving amount was quite a lot for $13 in my opinion. Would definitely come back but not during lunch time because it's too busy.

A Taste of Asia in the heart of Sydney CBD
We saw this location on MKR and thought it was a pop up thing until we visited their website and found out that it has been there for a very long time.
My wife and I visited this location on the weekend and it was amazing. As soon as you go through one of few alleyways that lead to this, you think you have just gone through an alleyway in Hong Kong.
There are several cuisines here being that of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan and China from what I can remember. There were so many cuisines and so wonderful smells; we were not sure what to try.
We decided to go with Thai as our first attempt and will definitely go back again to try the other cuisines.
Location – To get here…. It is near Central Park or nearby UTS. So you can drive or use public transport. We drove however parking is not fun. You can park on the street if you are lucky to find a spot. There are 2 secure parking locations within 10minutes walk from Spice Alley. Once you walk through Spicy Alley, you are hit with the wonderful smells. There are shared tables and chairs, so I would recommend (especially if you are in a big group) grab a seating area and then have someone go and order for you. If you are going during the Sydney summer, I suggest you try to find a shaded area because it does get very very warm in the sun.
Food – the aroma of the cooking is wonderful. Some restaurants you can even look through the glass to see how the chef is making the food. The food is delicious and fresh. We tried Thai Fried Rice and Pad Kee Mao. Nice and spicy, delicious and couldn’t fault it. The dishes were full of flavour and didn’t take all that long to make… I would say approx. 10min.
Value – they are just about the same if you do a takeaway from any other Asian cuisine. I must admit the quantity isn’t all that much however I guess it is just an experience after all…
The Negatives
- Cardboard plates and cutlery. I don’t know if all restaurants serve their food like this however our Thai restaurant had cardboard plates and cutlery. This was very annoying as it took some of the flavour and moist of the meal. Furthermore, the food was sticking to the cutlery. Not very pleasant.
- You must ensure you either have your debit card, credit card or Spice Alley card with you. This establishment does not accept cash. This is not so much a negative however luckily we read the website before we visited this establishment.
- Not all restaurants sell drinks. I know our Thai restaurant and the dumplings restaurant didn’t sell drinks so we had to go to another spot. But don’t worry all restaurants are within LIETERALLY two steps of each other.
- In the Sydney summer it gets very warm. Not much shade in this area. It would have been good if there were some sort of fans or water mist fans in this location.
- Parking is a hassle here.
I do recommended a visit here and I am looking forward to going back again to try other cuisines.
Spice Alley is always an enjoyable place to go. This time I tried Bang Luck. I had the Thai Green Curry with beef and sampled my friends Pad Thai. The curry was full of flavour and spice and the beef was nice and thin. Generous in serving size as well. I also enjoyed my friends Pad Thai. I would go back!

Spice Alley Last night was super cute!Love the hidden spaces and the theme of this place.. The lanterns are super cute 😘The food itself was basic but sometimes that's all you need! What you would expect from other takeaway joints.Bonus of this is it's right next to Koi Dessert Bar 😀Cute for date night or with friends and would definitely be interested in checking out the other restaurants in the vicinity too!
We were walking around in Chippendale and found ourselves in some strange looking alleyway and decided to go on an adventure . Little did we know it was quite popular and was a street food area. Anyway since we have come across quite a few Thai places, we decided to give Bang luck a go. We ordered the pad Thai, pad see ew and the Thai fried chicken. To our surprise the Thai dishes we had was quite delicious and enjoyable! The food price was also reasonable. I would recommend this to other travellers :) Cameron
i don’t usually leave reviews unless i encounter something special: the chicken green curry that bang luck served me last night was exactly that. i’d almost go as far to say the best green curry i’ve ever had. appreciate the work you guys are doing. thanks again.

Stir fried pipi and pad Thai were delicious 👍
Ordered the stir fry seafood. Comes with rice and a big serving of seafood.
Was a bit sweet but other than that a great place for Thai.
Really tasty cashew chicken stir fry; it wasn't too oily and was a decent portion for $12.
The food is tasty and consistent. The staff is always friendly and there is rarely a wait. Bang Luck has become my favourite quick Thai place in the area.
