I had the uglymug large almond flatwhite at Mt Tomah. Quite pricy for 5.7 a cup. The bean is quite good though. May not be as rich as some of the CBD cafes but pretty decent.

Big cafe serving up both classic and unique cafe foods. My friend ordered the cheeseburger and it was deliciously juicy. The Banoffee Pancakes were a weekly special and it was absolutely beautiful and crazy fulfilling. The Banana Smoothie was refreshing to have after the burger and the Iced Coffee was strong and creamy. Definitely will be back.
Good amount of variety for food and good quality.

Excellent and attentive service! Made allowances for pram. Delicious pancakes but needed more cream! Hot choc on point! Friend had ugly mug breakfast burger and said it was delightful! Might revisit to try lunch menu!
Lovely (and busy) little cafe in the middle of Richmond. On weekends, this place feels like a Tour de France pit stop with all the weekend cyclists stopping here for a bite to eat. The decor of the cafe is smart and you do feel like sitting down and reading the newspaper while you wait for your order to arrive. The staff are helpful and courteous.
The menu is quite extensive for a cafe, with the all day breakfasts seemingly the big draw. I ordered a bacon egg roll and a hazelnut latte. The bread was fresh, the bacon crispy and the eggs fried, with runny yolks, just the way I like it. The use of barbecue sauce was restrained, which was a relief.

I have been to The Ugly Mug three times. The first time I went towards closing time so they didn't really have much left and the kitchen had closed. I ordered a lime milkshake and pie to take away. My lime milkshake was amazing, however my pie was rather tasteless and definitely not worth the $10 I paid. The past two times I have been however have been fantastic! The first time I went for lunch and ordered the UFC burger. It was delicious. The fried chicken was so tender and the colesaw worked very well with it. The bun also had a delicious sweet taste and really added to the overall flavour of this burger. I have to say though the chips were pretty bland, they lacked seasoning and salt. I also had a watermelon and orange juice which was delicious. It tasted so fresh. The second time I went for breakfast and had the breakfast bruschetta. I have to say 5/5 dish. The feta, tomato and basil worked SO well together. And the sourdough was just delicious. My egg was poached perfectly. The serving was also very generous, I was not left hungry. The presentation could have been better however that did not detract from the taste. Again, I also ordered the watermelon and orange juice as I was very happy with it the first time. My friend ordered the shrooms on toast with a side of bacon. She was also very pleased with her meal and from what I tasted of it it was also rich in flavour. The bacon was cooked absolutely perfectly and the mushrooms were sauteed great! I have to say service here is not the greatest. The staff are all pleasant however you do have to wait a while for your meals to come out. It is also quite pricey for Richmond but it is definitely worth it!
Fantastic food everytime. Sure you have to wait but the staff are friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. I consider a busy cafe as a good sign the food is good! Oh and i bever have problems with finding space for a pram and an active toddler.

I recently ordered a mango smoothie from here which was really nice, although it was $6 which I thought was a tad pricey for Richmond standards.
I also ordered a pie thinking "wow, $10, this must be good!" however I was underwhelmed. It was decent, but nowhere near worth the $10. Maybe $5 at most.
I find the pricing methods used here quite odd, considering this is a small cafe in a small town on the outskirts of Sydney where the average income is much lower than the average income of inner city suburbs (i.e. where I would normally expect to find these sort of prices). As an example, when you've got one of the best bakeries in Sydney (Bourke St Bakery) selling their pies for $5-6, $10 for a comparatively mediocre yet similarly sized pie from a small cafe in a quiet town on the outskirts of Sydney seems a bit ridic. Sorry guys.
** UPDATE**: In my original review (above), I gave the café 3.5 stars. Today, I went for christmas breakfast with a friend around 9am. We were worried we wouldn't get a table as it's Christmas eve, but we were seated straight away. Their breakfast menu has lots of delicious options to choose from, and it was tough to make a decision. Eventually I settled on the shrooms on toast with a side of bacon and poached eggs, and an orange/watermelon/strawberry juice. The juice came out promptly and was nice and cold, very refreshing. The breakfast itself was a bit of a wait (30 mins) but once it arrived it looked great. The mushrooms and bacon were yummy, and the sourdough not too tough to cut through. The eggs were poached perfectly, with the yolk a little runny. Overall was a lovely breakfast, although waiting time could be improved. In light of this, I have upped my rating to 4.5 stars.
A local favourite for the wife and I. We have been here a few times now since moving into North Richmond and it has never disappointed. The coffee is fantastic, the wife always goes for the milkshakes or fresh juices. The food is Wow, the ugly cheeseburger, bacon and egg roll, omelette and the cakes are all so good!
Will continue to return here, almost too good a place to be true
