This is a pretty good bagel place near Circular Quay. They have a nice range of bagels and fillings. I had the lox with pumpkin bagel. The bagel itself was pretty good and overall, it was a very yummy and filling meal. The coffee was also really good.
The bagels are fairly good but a lot chewier and less flavoursome than some other fancy bagels I got in Sydney recently, so I wouldn’t say they’re good enough to seek out. They go beyond in other items though, like the cream cheese schmear on my bagel that was so rich and garlicky. Likewise, the Katz sandwich isn’t a patch on Katz’s but is probably the best pastrami sandwich I’ve had in Sydney, with a deep smoky flavour in the pastrami (didn’t melt in my mouth like the best though) and a fair bit of it on the sandwich (justifies the high price although at least it’s much cheaper than Katz’s). It could have done with less mustard in order to make the flavour of the pastrami most important, plus they really need to notify in advance if they want to charge a credit card fee.
Fellow New Yorker here — this place definitely scratched the itch for a ~real~ bagel. Some fun bagel flavors and shmears. Missing out a little on flavor, but the texture was awesome and the ratio of cream cheese to bagel was as authentic as it gets. There should be rubbish bins set out for guests dining in! :)
