I was just passing by and was looking for some breakfast. This place was chosen purely at random but now I know to come straight here. I was made welcome straight away, as if I was expected and a regular. When I ordered breakfast, they queried if that is really what I wanted and made an excellent suggestion of their specialities. I was not disappointed, the food was great, as too was the coffee but most of all I enjoyed the atmosphere and banter shared by everyone in the place.
They say they have the best scrambled egg roll in Sydney and I have to agree!
w/ Chipotle mayo, Jack cheese on Brioche.
I recommend it to everyone, it's that good.
Service is friendly and came with smile 😊
Love the coffee, it was take away piccolo.
Light roasted Coffee bean coffee in my opinion powering this cafe and I don’t mind at all, even though I prefer more to medium dark roasted coffee beans.
Anyhow, temperature was perfect and a very pleasant cup of coffee to drink.
Flew back to Sydney this morning from Japan the first thing before work is to get a lovely coffee and burger at The Upside Café, eventually just realised they are closing few days for facelift cant wait to see them reopen with new look, new menu and new drinks.
Fantastic value! We spend 20 bucks for me and Xihuahua 🐶. They have really tasty bread and everything was done right! Highly recommend their breaky burger deal with coffee, mushroom melt. They even do crispy bacon! Yes crispy bacon is finally found in Australia! The coffee is very mellow and has a special fruity hint, nice one!
Secret: The cafe us much bigger than meets the eye with many secret lobbies.
Amazing burgers. Lovely staff. Lovely garden. Try their Big boss burger. Yummm.... Strong coffee with smooth and chocolate ending. Lovely place to go and grab lunch.
Popped by this cute cafe for my coffee fix during lunch break with my colleagues. I loved my iced latte and service was great. I will definitely be visiting more often!
Loved this place! Stopped by early Saturday for some breakfast - It’s small but cozy and the service was very friendly with smiles all round.
I had a soy latte and the vegan banana bread which came quickly and of good quality.
Noticed they also had vegan caramel slice so I’ll be back to try it!
Excellent flat white with almond milk! And only cost $4.5 which is less than average price.
Love it! Small but cozy diner. Chilly outside but warm inside. Quite quiet in the early morning. Gonna try others on the menu in the future.
Pros:
- great space to study, has WiFi and powerpoint
- great coffee, great snacks
- service is friendly, cheeky and attentive
- huge toilet space available
- many little rooms to study or chill in
Cons:
-none
Arrived out of the blue about 8am Saturday morning. Host was great. Enjoyed the coffee, the breakfast burger of jack cheese, bacon, egg and special spicy sauce was very nice
Quaint little cafe with a stunning little outdoor courtyard. Friendly staff with good coffee! Food was good and they were happy to allow for minor menu alterations. Will definitely be back. ☺
Visited on a early Monday - the coffee shop itself was a bit quiet. A couple of takeaways in an hour duration when I was there. We ordered two coffees and both were delicious. The iced latte tastes nutty with milk based espresso while the cold drip has a fresh sour fruity flavour. The barista was quick, friendly and accommodating. The space was decorated modern, I would say there are many very instagrammable photo spots. Also bought a bag of their coffee for my home brew filter because I loved the taste of my cold drip. $18 for 250g bag coffee.
Open fro take away only, during this second lockdown.
Very quite when I visited, bought afternoon piccolo for my self.
Coffee is not bad at all, decor was good too, even I would say not bad for Instagram picture😀
Coming from Taipei where proper light roasted single origin hand pour is THE THING I was really missing that distinct notes and aroma from a properly brewed hand pour coffee. Not only are their roasted beans stunning but Tim also just made the most amazing hand pour coffee with the exact notes that’s supposed to be: chocolate, guava and floral. I finally got my fix of a proper hand poured coffee in Sydney!
Gorgeous little find and a local gem. Make sure you pop downstairs to eat in the beautiful garden out the back. Great food, excellent burgers on the menu, ace beans and the staff are top notch too!
Really lovely atmosphere, which for the area is a nice surprise. There is a number of spots to sit, inside, outside, couches, bar stools, lots of options.
Burger loves would be excited. I'm not a burger person so had a wrap which had good ingredients but I didn't realise it came toasted & I'm not a massive fan of cooked lettuce lol. There was also a surprise chilli kick. I look forward to ordering other items from the menu I.e. The salads sound good!
Food came quickly, which is great as I only get a short lunch break. Price is medium - wrap was $14.50 (see menu in my photographs) Finally great to see there isn't a surcharge for using your Credit/Debit Card!
The Upside Café is open for X'mas & New Year day.
Don't let the entrance (or the front part) of this place fool you. It may look small, but go in, go through the back and you'll be met with a small and cozy beer garden. There's also other little rooms that fits a small number of people.
The Burgers are good. My fave breakfast burger is the Spicy BBQ Roll. The bacon is crispy, the egg gooey, the brioche bun nice and warm.... it's making my mouth water just describing the food.
I also like their take-away coffee cups. They have some words of wisdom written on them. It brightens my day when I read them.
