My favourite gelato chain has now opened closer to home and I could not be happier. Although it is winter the nutella swirl does not disappoint- wait time was however incredibly long
When you get gelato right, you get it right; and Pidapipo is one of those places that absolutely gets it right. With it's super creamy texture, it's definitely my go to for a cold treat on Chapel Street.
Decorated in their signature pastel tones, and with rows of metal canisters filled with the delicious gelato, this corner location is a pleasure to visit. Staff are lovely here, and the choice of flavours, though not extensive, is really good.
We chose honeycomb and vanilla bean, and hazelnut brownie and both were sweet and tasty. The only downside was that it melted a little quickly, which just means you have to eat it that little bit quicker. The flavours were authentic and not artificial at all, and this gelato certainly lived up to it's great reputation.

This place is one of our favorite gelato shops in Melbourne. We like to get pistachio ice cream here. It is not too sweet and very creamy too. Today we also tried nectarine flavour it was pretty light and refreshing .
I love gelato and this has to be the best I’ve ever tasted. Delicious, wish there was one closer to home but each time I’m in area I head on over.
Better than Messina up the road. Less flavours to choose from, yes, but better quality ingredients and just better quality in general. Best flavours:
1. Passionfruit.
2. Vegan chocolate i(even better than their regular chocolate)
3. Fresh mint and white chocolate (really high quality white chocolate shards...possibly Lindt) great combo with the passionfruit.
4. Fior De Latte
Definitely one that is not to be missed in Melbourne! There is always a long wait for their gelatos and it does justify because they are amazing.
This is a perfect after meal spot if you're wanting a light dessert. My favourite is the nutella swirl and pistachio ice cream as it is so good. You actually get chunks of pistachio in the ice cream and I love it.
It was a beautiful Saturday night when we came for ice cream, the queue were out the door but moving quickly. This was my first time so I was looking forward to it!
Wow wow wow! What can I say? This is Hands down the BEST ice cream I have tasted! The pistachio and Nutella mix was heavenly and I could have had bucketloads more!!!
So I would have given this place 5 stars IF the staff didn’t have an attitude problem!!! Yes I am talking about you - Italian girl serving your customers that Sat night! You were rude serving me, and you talk about me to the other staff in Italian. I would have ignored it if the others didn’t point our your rudeness to me afterwards too!
This Italian gelato is the best ice cream in Melbourne . Finally took my husband to try his first Pidapipo , and he was in heaven despite the not so great service we got from the girl who was impatient when we wanted to try the flavor. We will come back for more Pidapipo 😍
Tried the coconut flavour and it was so refreshing, perfect for summer! Customer service was nice and friendly. Would be back for more flavour.
Love love love this place!! Texture is so good and they have a nice range of flavours which makes it so difficult me to choose. My favourite would probably be pistachio and hazelnut. Defs worth the 40 minute drive.

as a frequent visitor of this incredible ice cream store have nothing but good things to say.
Yes, the young women when under the pump, can be closed mouthed.
However, I’m my frequent experience, some effort from the customer at asking how their day has been and visiting the store when there is not a queue winding down the street, you will find that these girls are extremely friendly and very personable.
Give them a break.
These gorgeous young women work very long hours doing extremely physical and repetitive work.
Also many customers are annoying.
Do yourself a favour, do NOT ask for a tester, (they don’t test) every flavour is incredible.
The best you’ve ever tasted. Trust this fact.
If you don’t know what good sorbet, ice cream and or gelato tastes like, and you can’t buy before you try, maybe don’t come here. There’s another store down the street that test. It’s inferior ice cream, but you get to test.
If you’re a sensitive soul, try to visit during the quieter hours and ask the girls how they are enjoying Melbourne.
Most of them have been quite isolated during Covid, a long way away from their families.
I give the Pidapipo, the ice cream, and these young women five stars. Be kind 💗
Update 24/4/22 - The Asian looking girl served me less than the “1 scoop” I paid for. I think she needs to be supervised and retrained so that the serves are consistent.

Love Pidapipó. Love their gelati, especially pistachio and cookie ones. Love their sorbet, so fruity so refreshing. Great packaging too
It was a warm autumn night, wife and I needed ice cream. A friend recommended this place, only 15 mins from Oakleigh.
The peanut butter gelato is simply heaven, will be back to try more.
Delicious ice cream. Was a line even on a cold night. Worth it!
