I'm a bit unwell so asked for a cup of hot water after meal. The lady served a cup of hot honey lemon instead and goes 「 It will fix you」 this lovely place is extremely friendly and welcoming
The salmon bagel is delicious, great friendly staff, coffee beans from local roaster The Coffee Barun, winning! Also they are now open Friday nights doing some great food and beer combos. Pastrami burger, Rueben Sandwich, Brisket burger and more
The Flying Fig bring New York to Adelaide. Their reuben sandwiches are enormous and because everything is made in-house, it is tasty. Even takeaway the food is still great. They hand make their bagels too.
The most amazing Vegetarian Reuben sandwich! Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, great coffee
The Flying Fig Deli - Seriously, You Better Give a Flying Fig About This Place
Hi foodies, It was a freezing cold day in Adelaide, I had a queasy tummy and the only thing that makes me feel better is a broth. Ok, if you have read my stuff before you know I'm a broth addict and no there are no meetings for it. I wouldn't want to go, I happen to enjoy being a broth addict. I was perusing the menu and then the specials board and so much delicious jumped out of me but what jumped out and slapped me silly was the matzo ball soup. It felt like it was speaking to me, saying, "Order me lady, this is why you're here!"

We went there around 10 oclock there to ate our brunch. We ordered latek, breakfast bagel, sweet potato wafel and the beef hash.
For those who likes sweet stuff, order the sweet potato waffle! I really like how they serve it. Its sweet its savoury, still sweet! And my favorite one is the beef hash. I love it! Gonna comeback for the beef hash! Yay!
The place itself superb comfortable.
What a lovely why to spend a Sunday afternoon lunch.
The Rubin Sandwich and Brisket Burger were great choices together with some house made drinks.
The Rubin was a bit spicy as it had a chilli rub.
The Brisket Burger was delightful.
Although the prices were a bit steep the meal was worth it
The staff were polite, friendly and very accommodating. Food was prepared and served quickly. Good range of choices on the menu, we would definitely come back for lunch at some stage to explore the rest of the menu. Pricing is great considering they are in the heart of North Adelaide.
Brekky here with friends every few months. Cosy atmosphere but chilled too. Had breakfast muffin with bacon, egg and onion relish thing which was yummy in flavour and generous in portion. Love that water is available and whilst I prefer coffee after, before is ok. Like swipe card donating for guide dogs I think too, good to be generous
Coffee is good here 👌 The place is cute and full of good vibes. Service is welcoming and friendly. Menu has a great selection of foods, have enjoyed all of the dishes I’ve tried here for brunch. Even came when they had a dinner menu and that was tasty too.
Finally! A Jewish inspired cafe delicatessen in Adelaide! Poppie loves Jewish sandwiches. They remind him of his travels in the USA. Pastrami, brisket, corned beef mmmmmm delicious. The Reuben here at the flying fig is amazing. Poppie loved every bite of it and didn't want it to end. The sauerkraut and corned beef were plentiful! The Rye grilled with butter just delectable. Poppie can't wait to come back on a weekend to try the pastrami on Rye or the briskit burger. Coffee was also great as beans are sourced from the coffee barun. The only downside is that the prices are a touch too high. It's $24 for the Reuben and a large pickle. Definitely worth an eat 👍
All staff were super bubbly & happy. They were happy to answer all our annoying questions from the menu & provided their suggestions. Everyone was very happy with their meals-loads of flavour, fresh tasting and presented well. Our only criticism is our coffees ordered took a long time to come out. I will definitely be back.
Covid times: only doing outdoor dining and takeaway food - we can still eat out safely 🙂. Outdoor brunch at @theflyingfigdelica! Always reliable for a good feed. Delicious food 😋😋😋.
.
Pastrami on Rye: House smoked pastrami with mustard on dark rye. This totally reminds me of the smoked meat sandwiches back in Montreal. Love the pastrami! Tender and full of flavour. So good 🤤🤤🤤.
.
Brisket Cheese Burger: (grilled) 200 gram aged brisket patty, Monterey Jack cheese, house bread and butter pickles with schug mayonnaise on a brioche bun. If you like a good burger, this definitely hits the spot! Nice tasting patty. Nice fries.
.
Special of the day - Pastrami Tzimmes with sweet potato, heirloom carrots, asparagus, spiced beetroot, crispy garlic, chilli sauce + dukkah. This was a really delicious dish! The pastrami was amazing as always, and very tasty inside the crepe.
.
Watermelon, mint, lemon juice with crushed ice: I love anything with watermelon, so this was perfect! Especially on a hot and sunny day 🙂.
Absolutely gorgeous little cafe with a tremendous vibe and feel. Friendly and efficient staff with plenty of welcoming regulars too.......but the absolute highlight is the food and coffee. Can strongly recommend the waffles for brekky, absolutely sensational.
Will definitely be back
We ordered the egg & bacon bagel and french toast. The bagel was delicious. When I had a bite of the FT, I forgot I was in Adelaide! Haha. The flavors brought me to a different place– a beautiful one! It’s the best french toast Ive ever had! The staff are very attentive and friendly. Customer service was great! Will definitely go back here!
The taste of food is different in this cafe. Full range of ingredients and great chefs make the food so great. For sure this cafe has many different meals from the other cafes around the town. So, must pay a visit place!
The staff are so friendly and assist the customers with the menu options.
There are two reasons I didn't give five stars:
1. Inside of the cafe is a bit packed and as a parent with two little kids, I always concerned about others sitting next to me.
2. The coffee beans were strong, so it didn't sit well with me.
All in all, I would definitely go there again, but order my coffee from elsewhere.
This is a great setup. Plenty of indoor seating with some spots available outside on the footpath. The staff are very friendly and attentive.
The coffee is great as is the brunch menu. Great combo of lunch and breakfast food on order.
The Ruben sandwich is very tasty and is a big draw card. The bagels are awesome and can be purchased in a bag to take home. Home made pickles are also available and are worth a try!!
Finding parking is reasonably easy, most parks are only a short 20m walk if you don't get a prime spot.
Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
Only area for improvement would be asking for drinks/coffee order straight away as most people know what they are after and this can get the ball rolling a bit faster. - edit - this seems to be happening now, awesome!
Lots of house made components on the dishes.very appreciated the efforts from the chefs. Lack of FOH staffs may take longer time to be served, but still acceptable.
Fantastic meal at The Flying Fig. A lot of Jewish specialties on offer, they also sell pickled vegetables etc
I had the Malawach, a flatbread (reminded me a bit of naan) with poached eggs and a few other things including schug which is a kind of salsa verde. The flavours went well together and if ever in town again I’ll be back to try one of the reubens.
My daughter Sanmarie took us there for breakfast. It was the best granola bowl I ever had! The service was warm and welcoming and the food and coffee fantastic.
