Such an amazing wine bar with the most perfect collection. We came here for date night and were floored by the presentation. Amazing choices, great atmosphere and a sophisticated environment - a must visit

I had the most amazing night laughing and getting served good drinks. Ciara and Ella were in the team behind the revolutionary experience of learning about digestives at the end of a night of eating. Forever grateful for the experience and highly recommend this bar.

After a lunch at another restaurant with a friend we found this bar initially I loved it the atmosphere and vibe was inviting... One of the owners serving us had a great sense of humour and very personable after he finished shift the bar began to fill with evening patrons and the vibe continued to impress until the next day I checked my card purchases (I don't carry cash) to find that I had transactions that I was charged double for, so disappointing what a way to spoil my point of view of what was a lovely bar... I would still recommend this bar as the actions of one person should not counteract on the others but watch what you are being charged for, I wouldn't do open tab and check value before tapping card or use cash

I really like this place. It's an 'out of the way', friendly little place with a nice drinks selection and upmarket style of food. It feels worn, but that adds to the "another era" charm.

Unbelievable experience. Amazing selection of spirits, wines etc. Honestly, the atmosphere was beyond what we expected. And the staff… WOW!!!! Ella and Ciara were incredibly kind and introduced us to some tastes we had never heard of before: Amaro, Negroni and Sweet VAMOOTH. Thank you team. It was a great experience.

Great management - Ciara handled a situation that could have resulted in a bad experience / birthday so professionally and level minded. She couldn’t have done better, someone extremely valuable to your team.

Need to make sure that your opening hrs are up to date in google - especially when there is no contact phone number. Our group planned an afternoon session at Proof around opening hrs from 3pm Monday ( as per google). Arrived & ….closed?

Cosy little two storey joint with a bijou outdoor area is a fantastic city cocktail, beer and wine joint. I visited on a Friday arvo and the place was very busy at 5pm. Would definitely recommend this place for a quick bevvy or an afternoon sesh to head into the wee hours.

Still love this place for a drink. The staff are always really friendly and always on hand to recommend something a bit different for you to try. Great fun standing at the bar but also have a great upstairs area, booths and outdoor area. Good snacks to go with your drinks. The toasties are great.

Such a cosy place for catch up drinks with friends or colleagues. What makes it even better is you can order food from Press or Melt here too! There is a massive selection of wine by the bottle and their cocktails although not many are delicious. Service can be a bit abrupt when busy but otherwise great place

Great place for a drink the staff are wonderful and the upstairs courtyard area is gorgeous, especially at night. The mushroom and truffle Jaffa keeps me coming back again and again.

It's freezing cold today. I was wandering the frozen barren landscape of Adelaide for lunch but alas it was past 3pm and the usual lunch spots had shut down. Enter Proof and their small yet perfect selection of toasted sandwiches. Cured pork with a mixture of the tastiest cheese I've met on my journey so far on this planet. <br/><br/>I'm not sure what the disease was, but this is the cure. <br/><br/>Add in the fantastic lane way, small bar feel of Proof and the great atmosphere and it equals perfection. <br/><br/>And yes, this is the best toastie I've ever had!

Cute little bar located in the city. Great staff who are extremely attentive and happy to help with suggestions should you need. The cocktails are delicious. The outdoor area upstairs is also perfect for those balmy nights. Perfect for after work drinks or a catch up with friends.

Love Proof, second visit last night. Staff are terrific. Wines by glass not extensive but balanced and really interesting. Staff great, love that they let you try wine when not sure!

We held a small Christmas function upstairs at Proof one night last week and it was brilliant. We were incredibly well looked after by the staff and the food was delicious (particular mention goes to the mushroom pithiviers and the toasties, which hit the spot perfectly!).  The venue is classy yet not pretentious, and the outside area is perfect on a warm summer evening. <br/><br/>We have had nothing but positive feedback from our clients who all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as we did. <br/>  We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Proof as a venue and look forward to coming back.

Cute little wine bar with a great rooftop area. The wine menu is a bit disappointing, though... There are only about 5 or 6 reds by the glass and there aren't any heavier varieties, which is not really acceptable for a wine bar. Very small snack food menu. Amazing cocktail list.

Fabulous bar tucked away in a small lane way, worth a visit. <br/>Great service, terrific atmosphere. A good stop for pre dinner drinks! <br/>We will be back.

The barman is a cork sniffer. We stumbled across Proof bar on a Thursday evening and felt threatened within minutes when we were advised by the barman we were starting a tab against our will. He agreed to allow us to purchase 2 drinks and pay cash, which was a relief. He had a few issues trying to cut the cucumber for our Hendriks gin, he obviously had never been taught how to serve Hendriks gin before but we accepted it was likely his first time and let the fact the cucumber was a round slice as opposed to a long stick go. He attempted to look like he was really distracted and aloof and had a lot of very important things to do while he poured tonic from a small bottle but actually essentially he just pours fluid into cups and that's his career forever. He swirled wine majestically (he thought) in a glass whenever we looked in his direction. He opened a bottle of bubbly and discreetly sniffed the cork as he walked away. The next night we went back for more comedy, as he had created the impression his bar was the centre of the universe and the best place to be in sadelaide... We walked into the bar at 1.20am and he welcomed us with a hello. As we browsed the bar deciding which cork we wanted to see him sniff he waited approx 20 seconds then said in a patronising condescending voice which I briefly mistook for jimmy savilles "we're closed.. Party's over girls" and I responded "you took your time to tell us that" and walked out swinging my oversized Chifley hotel umbrella. This is a really cute bar.. Absolutely not representative of a 19th century English bar at all.. More like he nicked a lot of ideas during his working holiday visa month in st kilda, Melbourne and thinks he has created something unique. Great bar shame about the barman.. The proof is in the pudding and this pudding was created 1,000 times before.. And tasted better

Wonderful attentive service. Great drinks and food. Beautiful decor. Obly negativeof the night- my credit cars has been charged twice for one ttransaction. Hopefully the staff handle this just as attentively.

Went to proof as recommended by Melt CBD restaurant. Very impressive welcoming bar, great service. Will be back.

It was ok. The staff are lovely, but there needs to be some more comfortable chairs upstairs in the outside area. If they made this area a little softer on the eye and not so concrete jungle-ish it woul be perfect. The food was nice.

Pretty bad. We are from interstate and my friends and I visited on a good recommendation. Bitterly disappointed. Waited at the bar for service for 20 minutes, ordered the same cocktail (Green Snapper) but received completely different drinks in different glasses. $18 for a glass of ice pretty steep! But it did have a nice vibe and good tunes...bit will never go back.

Located in an alleyway on Anster Street, Proof is situated in a unassuming double storey building. The decor here is full of character and old world charm.

The downstairs bar is where all the magic happens. Bar staff in waistcoats shake, stir and pour their way through the cocktail menu in a buzz of activity. Compact, without feeling cramped, the space has been well utilised with a timber bar stretching the length of the building and elegant library shelving showcasing a very impressive range of spirits and wine.

Upon entering we are greeted at the door and escorted upstairs. The bar is located across two floors with the top floor having an outdoor area. The vibe is chilled with the subtle sound of music in the background. It looks like a place where you would go to start a night out, or is part of a stop onto bigger things. The downstairs area is nicely lit however the upstairs area was dark with candle lighting at the tables. This lighting could definitely be flattering for those of us who are not blessed with supermodel looks.
