We popped in for a quick dinner fix and we were pleasantly surprised — perhaps because we weren't expecting anything. Keep in mind, it is a tapas place. So don't expect large portions.
The service staff were friendly and quite attentive. The food was interesting. I'd recommend the seaweed crackers and the dessert for sure!
+ The seaweed crackers were really interesting, a must-try in fact! The whipped roe wasn't too overpowering and paired with the mole, really makes for a great "umami" experience.
• The prawns were well grilled, really fragrant and savoury, but the bisque was lacking in flavour. You could definitely go ahead and throw in a pinch or two of maldon or sea salt.
• We had the Jamon, which is a standard. No complains about it.
• The empanadillas with morcilla were not very surprising — tasted like morcilla (blood sausages) 💁🏻
+ The brownie with beetroot ice cream was delicious! The beetroot ice cream seemed to have a vanilla base and the beetroot flavours were not lost at all. I reckon even those who aren't big on beetroot would love it. The custard was a little unnecessary and the brownie slightly overlooked but regardless, try this if you're here!
They actually recommended the anchovies and a few other dishes but my dining partner and I weren't inclined to them. But perhaps you'd be well off taking their suggestions :) The staff in general have a good idea of what's good and have keen palates.
We dined here with a large group which meant we could only order a set menu. I was a bit concerned at first as our group had a few dietary requirements but was thrilled with the food and service. A vast array if goodies rolled out, with special individual options for those who needed it. I really wish I’d taken photos as there were so many unique and delicious foods. The service was exceptional. Only downside is that the restaurant is quite small and not as classy as some in Adelaide
Iberia’s menu is uber packed with flavour and dishes that are executed well! We decided to go and try Iberia on an offer that I spotted and I do love these for the reason that if you were unhappy with the food or establishment and you’ve paid good money (and there’s nothing worse), at least you didn’t pay the entire amount! This can really add up if you dine out often.
On another note, wow! the reviews are really inconsistent on this restaurant from different sites, hopefully they will find common ground that most can agree on, although that is nearly impossible! we will see.
Upon entering, we noticed the lovely chic décor and an open kitchen, although it was a tad cold.
Perusing the wine list, it was interesting enough and the choices we made were good ones! We had a really exceptional Spanish white that we both enjoyed.
We ordered a few items off the tapas menu and enjoyed everything we had. Standout was the lentil pate, charred celeriac and flounder, anchovy crostini was nice, top quality anchovy but this dish is a little dry. Some of the servings are quite small and I believe if we had not been able to use our offer, this would have been quite an expensive dinner.
Would I return? Yes, but if I was paying full price, I would like to see slightly larger serves.
Thanks Team. Delicious.
