One main ingredient (slow cooked quality meat) served two ways (on a roll or with your choice of amazing looking salads). I opted for the salad box whereby meat (a bit of each of course) and three salads were placed in a box and topped with sauce. The meat was flavoursome, juicy and tender. The salads were...amazing. There was a queue but it moved fast.
The meat was really good! I tried the lamb, and it is Motrin an Asian style. Sauce is nice as well as the chilli! Salad, well, not bad for take-away.
Absolute Favourite! Tasty, fresh, nutritionally sound and super fast service . It's the best tasting healthy lunch in town. I wish they would open more outlets throughout the city.
I always go for the roll option - and Chicken & Pig never disappoints . My favourite is half lamb half pork (to get the crackling!).
I was shocked to see only an average rating of 3.2... I have read all reviews and with the exception of one 3.0 rating, all were 4 or 5....
Great little takeaway place to eat for lunch with delicious tender meat (lamb and the pork were amazing). I personally didn't like your chicken as much as was a bit dry. Salads were tasty too. A healthy and nutritious lunch which is very filling.
As the growth in Adelaide eateries continues seemingly unabated, the previously largely overlooked strip of Pirie Street has seen the opening of 3 new venues in a short space of time. Oggi, a pasta and wine bar; Abbots and Kinney, a bakery/patisserie; and now the subject of this post, the simply titled Chicken and Pig.
Nice change Salads are really nice. Meat portion is lacking, you don't get a lot. more of a Salad main with side serve of meat so if you are a vegetarian you could just eat the salad and toss out the meat (but don't do that). Meat has a really nice wood oven flavour.
The roast lamb roll was amazing, so tender and juicy!! I can't wait to go back and try more, the meat with salads is next on the list!! Delicious.
Chicken & Pig, a new city lunch haunt which has lines filtering out the door during lunch peak hour has made its presence known on Pirie Street which as of late, has had a new breath of fresh air with other popular haunts all sitting side by side (Osteria Oggi and Abbots and Kinney). I avoided the busy lunch crowd and got in early whilst staring at the menu above and gawking at the delicious meats and salad on offer through their display. Luckily, the staff were happy to explain how it all worked and it was pretty simple. You have two options, bread roll ($8.50) or salad. The bread roll option is the Italians version of a Vietnamese banh mi thit with your choice of meat and either shredded cabbage or lettuce with either red or green sauce. As for the salad option, minus the delicious carbs–is a choice of wood oven cooked meats–lamb, chicken or pork. As I’m usually quite indecisive, I asked the staff what their favourite was and went along for the ride. A salad with pork, awesome crackling included, a choice of 3 salads from the 5 or 6 they had on offer and a squeeze of red chipotle or green herb salsa sauce.
Absolutely amazing. The Italian version of a Banh Mi roll or a Bun bowl. Simple delicious food. Meats are tender and flavoursome. Salads are healthy an delicious. The only reason I don't keep going there is due to financial matters....and I'll get fat. Love this place
