Ah, good ol' Pier St Charcoal Chicken; the place to go when you're craving some delicious chicken and chips. Their range is quite good, and it is probably the least-dodgy Charcoal Chicken I've ever been to, food quality standard wise. I've never once been sick from eating here, I've even had some bloody dry ass-chicken, day old flake, dim-sims without any issues; as gross as that sounds. But seriously nothing will ever beat their Charcoal Chicken and Chips by far the best I've ever had in my life time.

This is the gold standard when it comes to charcoal chicken shops. The chicken shop by which all chicken shops be judged (and fall short). Perfectly crispy chips with the right amount of salt. Chicken that hits the mark every time - never dry, never undercooked, perfectly seasoned. Chicken rolls made with fresh chicken and tasty mayo. Gravy is the perfect consistency. Fluffy, golden roast potatoes. Unpretentious, tasty fried chicken. The schnitzel rolls are HUGE and taste so good.

Store isn't fancy, but what chicken shop is. Service is always efficient and the food is fresh, tasty and well priced. What more could you ask for?

Have a soft spot for the good old charcoal chicken of pier street. Always ended up here when the final bell rung for the end of school for a bag of chips with gravy. Their generosity in terms of portion sizes are undeniable, love their fresh and crunchy chips.
Always will have their deals with cheap chickens, burgers and rolls. Long live charcoal 🍗

Don't let their run down appearance turn you away! There is a reason this place is always full.
One of the best chicken rolls I have ever had! In fact, they could only make it better by adding one or 2 extra things onto it such as a bit of red onion. The chicken is never dry and they don't have huge wait times or prices.
They have quite a large menu but I have never had anything bad from here in the last 14 years.
They could, however, do with a bit of a revamp as they look a bit run down.

Been coming to this chicken shop since i moved to the area around 6 years ago. The quality of the chicken is great , always cooked well and chicken is never dry. the chips are the best around they are cooked to order. The highlight is the chicken schnitzel roll my husband swears by it, it also great value for money. This has been our weekly treat for take away i don't see myself going else where any time soon.

Creme offered such a good range on the menu, took a while to chose. Great dishes, flavourful and portions were more than enough. Service was friendly, with the convince of the ability to order from the table via your phone. The venue has spacious seating, with outdoor seating available. However the majority of the outdoor seating can get a bit sunny and warm. Very pleasant dining experience, easy to relax and worth the visit.

My absolute go to dine in the area. Very welcoming ambiance, nice tasting food, reasonable price and amazing tasty food. I highly recommended the seafood platter, and I’m looking forward to my next visit. Update photos added 3/7/22, visited few more time after my previous review, tried different food in the menu, and as expected just yum! *“Gnocchi need some improvement”

It's taken me a while to get to Creme but I'm so glad that recently I was able to share it with my adult kids. As people who used to eat out a lot, we are just putting our toes back into the water and trying dining out again. On a beautiful autumnal day, we were able to secure a table outdoors under the awning. The cafe was busy with diners under umbrellas avoiding the mid morning sun. Adults, teens, kids, couples, friends, families, dogs and more. A lovely atmosphere. My 22 yo son had the Big Breakfast Board and as a 6'4" lad, he has a big appetite. He said it was the best big breakfast he'd ever had. The little side dish of muesli, fruit and panna cotta made it that bit more special and certainly caught our eyes as it was placed on the table. My daughter loves her burgers and certainly ticked all her boxes. My other daughter had the lamb pizza and it was a good size - enough that she asked for a container and took some home with her. In this cafe you scan a QR code that is on the table. You order and pay online. It's so cool because you can see what each meal looks like. Entrees, mains, drinks - all can be ordered online. Took us about 10 minutes to realise this as we waited for someone to give us menus. However, our order didn't go through and after 20 minutes I went inside and spoke to the staff. They were so apologetic, took my order and ensured it was hurried through. And it was. Meals on the table in 15 minutes! Each meal was a good portion size and when we asked for some more sauce, it was at the table in a flash. Big shout out to Creme and all the staff - the chefs, the waiting staff, the cleaners - everyone. I work in hospitality and was rapt to see the quality on every level. Covid-19 compliant and although we don't have to use QR codes any more, they were still up (just in case). Parking - this section of Pier Street has been closed off from Queen Street to Blythe Street so parking is in the side streets. No meters but parking limits are around 2 hours. Disability - Disabled friendly both indoors and outdoors. Dietaries - Well covered and the staff are happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements. Good range for vegetarians and vegans. Dog friendly. A bowl of water available for the canine members of your family. Toilets - didn't notice if it had toilets, but if not, there are public toilets only 100m away in the nearby park. I highly recommend Creme to everyone and enjoy the delights of Altona.

This is one of the restaurants that started the Cafe boom in Altona. I've been coming here for years and it has always been a pleasant experience. The service and food is great. Coffee was fantastic and the atmosphere is always lively in summer. They also have tasty desserts 🍨

Had brekky here and totally loved the chilli eggs I ordered. Was torn between that and the eggs benny, but was happy with my choice. Staff were really friendly. Large dining area with outdoor option. Coffee was very good, so I ordered a second one. Would come back for sure.
