I watched on enviously as several plates of dumplings were brought out and served to the other patrons, eagerly awaiting the Pork and Chinese Cabbage Dumplings ($10.8, 12pcs) that we had ordered. Once a plate was finally set down upon our table, I could hardly wait for Ming to stop taking her photos so that I could take my first bite. Once I did, I realised that these were exactly what I had been looking for: comforting old-fashioned pork dumplings that were juicy enough to have a bit of a soupy flavour, but not so much as to make the dumplings soggy. It had clearly been too long since I last had some dumplings like this, because I would have gladly sat down to a meal of these alone.
The restaurant appears as a low key little Asian place, which has good appeal as being authentic.
The service ladies were nice, but only one seemed to take orders, so this made for slow service in ordering.
The food is great though. The dumpling pastry was delicate and the flavours were great.
We ordered a shredded pork dish and it wasn't really as expected. But the flavour was great. Just didn't want all the other bits of bamboo and mystery items that were in the dish.
Prices reasonable.
Absolutely love the pork buns! I think its definitely one of the best places to go for pork buns. Also, try the skewers and various dumplings on offer.
Dumplings are a girls best friend?! Well this girl anyway 🤗
What better place to find them than @shanghainight, Ashfield.
So there are about 3 to 4 restaurants, all with similar names and run by the same people. You always see them rushing stuff from the older shop to the new ones.
Well my favourite one to go to, because it’s not overly packed with lines, is the oldest one. It’s different to the newer spaces. The food is the same and man do they make some spectacular dumplings.
I thoroughly enjoy the fried (of course) pork and chive dumplings. Be forewarned of the hot squirt of juices that usually burn my tongue on the first bite, because I’m too impatient to wait for them too cool down. The flavours are so hearty and deeply warming to me and man are they tasty 🤤
Where is your favourite dumpling spot?

真的很爱他们家的生煎包和小笼包,是我在悉尼吃过最好吃的。
If you love dumpling, this is a MUST to try. The most delicious dumpling that I ever try in Sydney, they still have a lots of delicious food, likes noodles, fishy and many more.
This place is my partner and I go to place for Chinese dumplings! Our usual order is the pork and chive dumplings (18 pieces for ~$11), full of flavour and the dumpling chef (usually a lady) is always wrapping the dumplings by hand so its a guarantee that its fresh! I would also recommend the stir fried seafood noodles in XO sauce (not on the menu, request from waiter) $15.
Update (28/3/18) : I had the best pork dish of my life! MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!
Order on the Chef Special Menu: Braised Pork Hock in spicy and soy sauce ($19.80), you get a large piece of pork with buk choy. so worth the money!! 10/10
The manager is a very friendly guy and he likes to engage in conversation with other customers.
Restaurant can get noisy from a lot of customers on weekends.
Would recommend for a cheap chinese feed :)
This is one of my favourite Shanghai restaurant. I've been going here for years but it's been ages since my last visit.
Came here for dinner and wasn't disappointed.
The restaurant is small but very popular so it's generally full which makes it really loud in the place. The decor is odd with no real theme. There's pictures and paintings on one wall of pastries and fruit while on the opposite wall there's pictures of horses and abstract art.
The food is obviously the real attraction. It's delicious despite being a tad oily. We had Xiao Long Bao, Sichuan Chicken and Rice Cake with Shredded Pork. Everything was tasty. The Xiao Long Bao had real ginger flavour with the delicious pork juicy filling.
This is our go to Chinese restaurant. Pork and coriander steamed dumplings, shallot pancakes and pork noodles are a staple. It hasn’t changed in the 7 years we’ve been visiting.
Very tasty food and reasonable price, one of the most authentic Shanghai Cuisines I've ever tried in Sydney. Small venue but tidy, fast serving.
If you want value for money, this is the place to go!
For those that want no-fuss, hearty dumplings, you'll be coming back again and again. Don't let the humble decor fool you. My staples here are the steamed prawn dumplings, steamed/fried pork and chives, and chicken and shiitake dumplings. These little morsels are full of flavour and can feed a group easily.
I can also recommend their xiao long bao, duck pancakes and zhajiangmian (fried soy paste and mince noodles).

Came here for a late dinner and it was great!
The workers were so lovely and friendly, which I didn’t expect given how late it was in the evening.
We ordered the Shanghai spicy beef noodle soup and handmade fried noodles with chicken and vegetable.
We also had the xiao long bao and prawn hargow. Everything came out so quickly and it was delicious. Coming back here to satisfy my late night dumpling and noodle craving 🤝✨🥟🍜
Busy, buzzing, no fuss Chinese restaurant with a very extensive menu and good value offerings. Food was very tasty. Service was prompt. You don't come here for the atmosphere, lighting or decor - the food speaks for itself. Complimentary Chinese tea is a nice touch.
Best dumplings in Sydney!!!! nice food and price.
The owner is always hospitality.
Yum! We shared Panfried dumplings, shallot pancake, cold combination noodles, and mongolian lamb. There were tradies there straight from work, a very informal feel.
We have been going here since the 90s. High quality food at cheap and cheerful prices. My faves are the pan fried pork buns, steamed pork and chive dumplings, drunken chicken, pan fried dumplings plus many more. Service is homely, the boss is from Shanghai and has learnt Cantonese to serve customers.
