Great food and coffee and the staff are amazing. Great atmosphere deffinetly would recommend this place
The best long black coffee I have had. Thank you so much. And the cakes are pretty good too. Shame it's a bit far to drive for a weekly coffee :)

I’ve dropped in here a few times now and the decor always puts a smile on my face. Retro furniture, bakelite lights, vintage teapots and even wallpaper from the old Women’s Weekly broadsheets, all make for an inviting place to eat.
Today I ordered a toasted ham, cheese and tomato - the good old staple for that brekkie on the go.
The array of sweet treats are plentiful and look delicious.
Had a coffee here a few weeks ago and was also very good. Nice soy milk too - Bonsoy.
You can dine at one of the quaint tables or at the rear there are booths. In warmer months it would be nice to sit at their outside tables.
Staff are friendly enough.
Note: wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front but there are parking meters.
With a retro interior design, little bird was bustling on the Monday lunchtime I decided to show up. The helpful staff were kind and welcoming, making myself a simple eggs on toast (off menu) cooked amazingly. Coffee was also quite good! Would come again for an easy cafe experience
I've only been in here a couple of times for a quick coffee and cake, but it is one of the best in Ballarat. Lovely calm and cozy ambience - not too noisy but not too quiet either. Great to sit in the window on a sunny winter day. They use Bonsoy milk which is a big plus. The array of cakes was very tempting, today I chose a quince tart and it was delicious.
Amazing coffee, just disappointed in the brekky menu, no real eggs bene or big brekky. Also would be good if they had a menu up on here :) thanks anyways guys will be back for coffee and cake - or a nice home cooked lunch. But breakfast for me is off the cards here.
Little Bird Cafe is a cute, quaint Cafe in the centre of Ballarat. The food was delicious and coffee was great! The service is friendly and food comes out fast! There are a great selection of delicious cakes at the front counter and the breakfast menu offers all the favourites and it well suited to all. The interior is comfortable, inviting and well decorated. Highly recommend this for a nice breakfast in Ballarat
Stopped for cake and coffee after the Archibald exhibition. The owner and staff are hysterical! The toilet is decorated with pages from 1960's magazines that create great conversation. The coffee was very good. Comfortable seating in what feels like grandma's house. Oh and the lemon merang pie! Brilliant pastry. Definitely going back when I'm next in The Rat 🐀
Reminds me of Happy Days.....
On the main esplanade of Sturt St, Ballarat, easy to find, although, not easy to park in this cosmopolitan city, talk about supporting small local businesses by the Ballarat City Council.
From the outside it feels like a French provincial cafe, once inside more like a retro "Happy Days" diner. Some of the owner's, Sue, Australiana collections are on displays, a bit of time travel with those wonderfully place headlights. Go check it out, trust you'll appreciate them.
Open kitchen, neatly set up and clean, vintage chairs, aluminium table tops, booths, etc.
On the sweets and coffee side, fantastic, trusty Allpress beans through La Marzocco espresso machine, prana chai and wholesomely made cakes; pavlova and lemon meringue can be addictive.
Much enjoyable....
Had a great short macchiato, Allpress coffee. Very friendly, good service. Loved the 50's decor, all beautifully done including the loo wallpapered in old magazine pages.
Really lovely little cafe. Friendly service and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. We had the corned beef and the mushrooms. Both really good potions and so tasty.
UWent on Saturday and were so impressed we wanted to go back again the next day, but they were closed.
The ghost of Bibo is alive and well... i was a little apprehensive about coming here after so many amazing breakfasts at its previous incarnation. But i wasn't disappointed. To start with, the coffee (from All Press) was amazing. Full bodied, smooth, a delight to behold. A great way to start the Little Bird experience. I had good old fashioned eggs benedict, which was outstanding. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise near perfect, and the ham (from local butcher and dear friend John Harbour) was, as always, faultless. My partner had the granola with local poached fruits, which again was flawless. No complaints whatsoever. Although its lovely to see they have kept the old-fashioned retro booth style of Bibo, i feel it would have been better to keep the original booths. But that's a minor gripe, and my humble opinion. What an escape for a cold, dreary and wet Ballarat morning... the best breakfast and coffee I've had since coming back to Ballarat. Do yourself a favour folks, get in to Little Bird. You won't be disappointed.
