Keeping the recipe to traditional taste and staff frenly.
Went there for a Sunday lunch, authentic Teochew style cooking very much like back home, very pleasant dining experience, highly recommend the angkukueh (mung bean cake), a must try. Will be back.
Bought takeaway. Char Kway Teow and Mee Goreng delicious and full of flavour. Will definitely come back and eat in, small cosy restaurant with nice feel and lovely owners.
Discovered this little tuck-shop like restaurant in North Balwyn after googling Teochew styled foods in Melbourne. I am so glad I’ve discovered this place. The 2 women who ran the place were the sweetest , most homely kind of people. They shared their tea with me. Thank you for that 🙏🏻 The pig stomach and salted Chinese mustard soup with white pepper was so yummy that I had it twice for lunch & dinner. I also enjoyed the glass noodles with soft shell crab very much. The highlight of the meal was the Ang ku Kueh, it was just the right- texture & sweetness. I was also blown away by the mung bean & water chestnut dessert soup. There were gratings of fresh orange skin, it hit the spot right there! Love the attention to detail and the high level of care given to the customers.
Authentic food ran by a family who are passionate for the food. Reasonable price and tastes great.
Secluded little cafe that serves Teochew style dishes. Char kuay teow uses more black sauce, different from the typical Penang char kuay teow found in other cafes. Good food, I like that the fate's a little closer to Singapore style hawker dishes. Good service, love the traditional looking plates too. Will be back!
Tucked away in a suburban North Balwyn mini mall is this oasis of a Malaysian restaurant. It was a Saturday morning and Doncaster road was just bustling with activities. Trams going past, patrons getting their morning coffee, shoppers at the florists and us going for an early lunch.
I found the menu exciting. It's not your standard Malaysian fare but a combination of regional specific hawker-style and homecooked cuisine (the current attached menu doesn't reflect that). The price may be slightly higher but it is also reflected in the quality of ingredients as well as the quantity. I will definitely be back with more people to try more things.
Traditional Teo Chew Cuisine! Must try their spring rolls which is extremely appetising! And totally different with the one you had in Vietnamese restaurant!
A good find ....
Well hidden from the main street, small, simple Malaysian hawker style food.
8/10 Roasted Chicken Rice seems to be their specialty, 6/10 for their Char Kwee Tiaw ..... we'll be back and explore more of their Menu.
A good find. JT-11/11/2017.
Dishes were all above expectations, excellent in taste and presentation. Revisit a must. Oyster pancake, Chinese ricecake stirfly, vege soup, chaozhou seafood dishes, chaozhou style meat dish (Lu shui). Ask the waiter for recommendations.
Found this lil Malaysian restaurant by chance while looking for a place for lunch and boy the food is good! The Roasted chicken rice is delicious !! Will come back to try other dishes next time !
