I’ve always past Dong Ba but never been in so I finally went in to try them out.
I tried a favourite cold noodle dish of mine “Bun Suon Cha Gio”
Filled with rice noodle, pork rib and spring roll. This lovely dish was found @dongba In Bankstown
I absolutely loved how light and fresh this dish was. The pork was nice and juicy.
This was a great find and in my top places to visit for this particular dish
Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the pho here.

Cheap, nice and easy
Always satisfies my craving for spicy beef noodle (bun no hue).
Do not order pho! It’s bad.
Rice option is not great either
Nothing to fault here. Food was nice. Service was very friendly. Location could not be better. Had the bun bo hue (spicy noodles), pho dat biet (special beef bowl) and pho tai (rare beef bowl). $12 each. The spicy noodles was pretty good, lots of meat, broth was full of flavour and they can adjust the spice level. Unfortunately there was a small bone in my friends beef bowl. Nevertheless, i personally liked my dine in here and wouldnt mind coming again.
Dong ba is a small restaurant in bankstown but it's a very famous in this area. They make a nice spicy beef noodle soup. When I want to eat spicy noodle soup, I must go this place. And their staff are friendly too.
The standout is the sheer size of portions and mountain of accompanying salad they serve with it. I asked for the spiciest which is called 'Bun Bo Hue' (spicy beef noodle) and asked them to leave off the blood jelly, im just not game enough yet. Very satisfying meal which i ordered with extra beef for a $2 surcharge.
This Dong Ba's signature Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup) is definitely better than the one in Cabramatta on John St. The noodle soup is tasty & spicy with nice aroma of lemongrass. Overall, a great bowl of Bun Bo!
Tried their Pho and Com Tam (broken rice with pork chop) too, but they're both not up to standard in taste. So just stick to their signature Bun Bo Hue!
Service is ok.
One of the few restaurants around this area that is open late and on public holidays. I usually go here when I can't be bothered travelling far and want noodle soup. Wouldn't trouble myself to travel far to eat here.
If you decide to go here, I recommend getting the Bun Bo Hue. Only a couple of restaurants in the area make this. The bowls here are filled more than Gia Hoi across the road. It is not mind blowing but is nice enough to ease any cravings.
The Bun Rieu here is okay. The broth is bit on the sweet side for me. Otherwise it is nice but not amazing.
The pho is decent. I only get pho if one of us is craving for bun no hue and we have to eat here. If you want to eat pho you should go down the road to Pho An or if you want the homely type Pho, Thang Long is the place to go.
Rice dishes are very average. Don't get them if you can't help it.
Another day another bowl of Pho... What was meant to be a pilgrimage to my favourite Pho joint in the "world" only to find it shut for TET / Lunar New Year break... I ventured into Dong Ba... Been here a few times previously however each time It left me wanting and thinking why didn't I just stick to the sure bet up the road... On an empty stomach I ordered the Pho Dac Biet as the usual go to dish.. However for Dong Ba their signature is Bo Bun Hue so I was definitely feeling Google lucky this time by steering away from the house dish... The pho was pretty Damn good... They have definitely improved their broth since my last visit it tasted more intense and sweeter along with ample condiments I was a happy camper.. Protein was cooked well although again I wish for more funky bits..serving size wont leave you hungry. All in all this is my top 3 pho joint in Sydney! Would I return? definitely! Whenever the other place up the road is shut that is...
Used to come here twice a month. Cheap eats, food came out quickly. Be careful when you pay as they are not that good with numbers but tend to do it manually.
My favourites here are the Bun Bo hue and the Bun Mang Vit.
Bun Dac Biet – Vermicelli rice noodles with spring rolls, grilled pork, braised sugar cane prawn $14. This to me is comfort in a bowl, soft fluffy rice noodles that feel like clouds, caramelised pork pieces, crispy deep fried spring rolls and that braised sugar cane prawn, a little sweet and salty with a satisfying chewiness uhh! Eating this is akin to kicking my shoes off after a long day at work and undergoing a pampering ritual. And boy do you get a lot of it – cannot recommend highly enough.
This has always been my go to place for the best bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) in sydney. This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember (10+ years) and the flavor and quality has not changed one bit. The soup is flavoured to perfection with tender slices of pork and a generous serving of salad and bean sprouts.
Had a late night quick dinner before closing, cash only place but worth the visit to the atm a block away, they are very friendly and the food was amazing. Not usually into soups but love Vietnamese food. Good location with plenty of parking around. Again can't comment on all the food but this Beef Soup Pho was totally amazing! Highly recommended for that genuine Vietnamese food experience.
Love Bun Bo Hue in this shop, we come to have this dish every weekend now. We haven't tried many other dishes on the menu so far, only the that Bun Bo, and Banh Uot Cha Lua (steam rice cake with pork sausage) which is quite yummy too.
I’d say that it could be better if the place was cleaner. My pho was nicer than other restaurants, but my friend’s bun bo hue was quite tasteless. Most things are $12, and this place has large servings.
