We had mid week fish and chips and were almost put off by the negative reviews but are so glad to have them a try anyways. We ordered a snack box which came with 2 fish bites, potato cake, dimmy, and chips. We also ordered another full sized flake and extra potato cakes... more than enough for two the flake was perhaps one of the thickest pieces we have had in the area. The batter was light and crunchy too which didn’t make you feel overwhelmed. The chips were thinner than your typical take away and had a generous chicken salt (as requested) and potato cakes were soft and golden crunchy. Only thing ordinary was the dimmy which was just typical of what you get anywhere else.

Would be my new favourite in the box hill/ Blackburn area.

Nice little shop with a friendly owner. Got a $9.50 snack pack and there was a lot of food! Really liked the fish bites - The were really big and are similar in size to a small-ish flake. Great value for money! Highly recommend.

Great service. Lovely quantity in terms of the batter. Well seasoned. Flaking fish and crunchy and crispy potato chips (generous serving of chips too). Not too oily.

Can't ask for much more than that from a fish and chip shop.

Tasty fish and chips!

We decided to pick this place for our Saturday night takeaway and were not disappointed. Admittedly, we picked the order up just as it was finished being cooked but it was very fresh and nothing tasted like it had ‘pre cooked’.
The potato cakes and fried dim sims were a nice starter as they were crispy and well cooked.

The chips were the thinner style, which I love and were well seasoned and the fish was the lightly battered type and not dry.

Great customer service. We will be back!

Went to this place to grab fish and chips for dinner and also came here because of the recent reviews and decided to test it out.

The flake was cooked really nicely as the batter had a nice crunch to it while the fish was tender and soft and not dry. Well done.

Chips was as expected but was better than most of fish and chips in Box Hill so I recommend here if you are close by.

Potato cakes and the calamari rings are standard as well, the rings weren't as expected as it didn't taste like calamari at all. The potato cakes wasn't as balanced but it is better than most potato cakes I had in the area where others were just batter and no potato.

Definitely will come again and try out other fish on your board.

I grabbed a quick lunch here recently and had a chat to the owner.
He had just taken over and was trying to revitalise the place.
My food was fine and it was a nice chat.

Given that there are new owners giving it a go (who have had previous experience in running this type of business) maybe give them another go if you have tried and failed in the past.

---UPDATE 15/1/2016--
Thought I would post a small update. Hd fish and chips last night, a scallop, a potato cake and medium chips.
Great meal except for the potato cake. Why does nobody make their own anymore?
In particular the fish was cooked perfectly with a nice light batter and good quality oil. The chips and scallop were nice too, but what you would expect.
Also a good vibe with the staff. They were enjoying their night and this makes me want to go back.

Dinner was quick, very well priced and delicious. The burger actually looked perfect when I unwrapped it. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back for more!
