The food was good but a little bit salty. We had noodles and Chinese pork hamburger.
I ordered biang biang noodle. I read a lot of reviews here and people recommended it. It was delicious and the only thing is that I felt it is a bit salty. Other than it is all good.
Great service and food,
If you’re after a cheap but satisfying meal then this is it.
The portion is large with so many varieties available.
The spicy cold noodles is so fresh, you can taste the chilli oil from the sauce which is amazing.
Update 23/09/2019:
They have changed the bowls hence the quantity being served has now reduced. It's still at a very reasonable price however will consider travelling that far now for these noodles as parking is always hard to find and portions have been reduced...
Pretty good noodle place. I am a huge handmade/hand pulled noodles lover and the noodles in this place are really hitting the spot. I recommend the classic Special Shaanxi Noodles! Really good noodle texture, bit chewy and with an uneven thickness consistency at some points but that was my favourite part. Good handmade noodle doesn't need to be completely the same thickness or same shape. I will be coming back for more !
Cheap eat. Portion size Is massive and the food was quite decent for Shaanxi style Chinese cuisine. Wouldn’t recommend the beef. Tasted stale. But the Biang Biang noodle was delicious. Definitely worth a try if you wanna experiment with different cuisines.
We came here as I have always walked past this restaurant but never bothered to go inside , from the outside it looks like a very run down restaurant but I found from previous experience how hidden gems are found. We tried the minced pork biang noodle, duck blood soup noodle, pork bun burger
The noodles were handmade and had a great bitey texture, the mince pork had a nice tomato flavor which we all enjoyed. The duck blood soup noodle was a bit disappointing as there was no fresh duck and the blood was overcooked ( this is my favorite dish in China so when I saw it on the menu I could not resist) The pork burger was a bit dry but hands down to them for making their burger bread which is a traditional Shan Xi bread which is crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside
Restaurant in box hill - northern Chinese cuisine
Ate:
Cumin and beef sandwich (must have)
Crumbled bread and mutton stew
Lamb skewers
Chive dumplings
Very authentic shaanxi restaurant and provide a lot of good shaanxi food. Sao Zi noodle is very nice and my friend enjoys eating there too. They support eftops, which is very convenient. Totally would suggest that.
Really a good place when you can not decide where to eat. Will never disappoint you.
However, the two waitresses look like someone owes their money. Looks like being angry all the time. Sometimes do not want to eat the meal when they serve you. Maybe because they are paid less than they want. Lol.
We've been here multiple times for eat in and takeaway - service is quite speedy! Waiting staff aren't the most polite but do their job fine. Everything we've tried have been fab - definitely noodles and the Chinese style burgers are our go to since they are what makes this cuisine unique! Portions are actually quite massive and very good food for money.
