We visited Dumpling King for the first time last weekend and we will definitely be back! The food was top notch - the fried spicy bean curd, four seasons dumplings, and pork buns were highlights - and the service was attentive and friendly. We’ve struggled to find quality yum cha since our move from Sydney, so if you’re looking for somewhere tasty and fresh then look no further.
My wife complained that the dumplings were a little bit oily but the meat inside was delicious. Same thing with all the other dishes we ordered, it was too oily. But their service is great and fast. Price is cheap.
Wonderful customer service and some of the best dumplings in town. The San Choi Bao is very good too. This is a great night out, and has quickly become a regular for me.
Went there with a view to having a longish lunch for 5. BYO wine. Service was excellent and the food was specialized Szechuan style. Started with Hot & Sour Soup followed with steamed Xiao Long Bau, prawn and chicken dumplings, and pork dumplings. Mains comprised Braised String Beans, House Special Szechuan Tea Leaf Smoked Duck, King Prawn in Garlic Sauce, Beef Fillet with Black Pepper on Sizzling Plate and Shredded Eggplant in Szechuan Sauce with steamed rice. A bit excessive and came to $60 each with tip. Probably amongst the best of the myriad of different styles of Asian food that proliferate the Box Hill streets
Have tried lots of different dumpling places but havent yet found better dumplings than these one. Should definitely visit atleast once. The best ones are the pan fried and szechuan style dumplings
Came here with my family when they were visiting. Attentive service, nice range of vegetarian dishes (including mock duck), and of course, wonderful dumplings of all varieties. Not cheap, but a great option for slightly upscale yum cha and Chinese mains.
Where should I start. Service was great the second we walked through the door. Food is amazing and definitely worth the price. The food is served relatively quick even with a full house. Highly recommend dining here if you’re after great Asian food with great service.

We called into Dumpling King tonight for a super quick dumpling dinner before a school show. I have been here quite a few times in the past but never with kids and never with an au pair who had never eaten dumplings before ... or even a spring roll. We also had someone who didn’t eat beef or pork just to make it more problematic.
My approach to this situation was to order a selection of everything ( I normally just go for the pan fried Beijing Pork).
Tonight we had spring rolls, steamed pork, beef, chicken, And prawn dumplings, pan fried Beijing and special fried rice.
Staff we very quick which was a essential element when dealing with kids and soon we were enjoying our selection. Favourites amounts the kids seemed to be the spring rolls and steamed pork and prawn dumplings while adults enjoyed pan fried and steam dumplings with vinegar and chilli oil ( such a tasty addition).
No one really loved the rice dish ... it was actually quite bland so probably would order something else next time.
We had happy hour beer and wine which was a surprise.
The french au pair wasn’t convinced on the merits of dumplings but enjoyed the spring rolls.
Booked in for dinner on a busy Friday night. I ordered the Beijing fried dumplings. The skin lacked the crispy texture i usually expect. The pork and chive filling was above average. The spicy salt calamari was sensational. Crispy, salty and flavoursome and would definitively order again. Service was efficient and friendly.
Great place, dumplings were as good as the dumplings I ate in Shanghai. Packed with flavour and so so juicy.
Keep it up. We came from Werribee just for them as we dont have any good dumpling places out our way. Worth the drive as I had been there b4. :)
Enjoyed dinner with friends tonight. Loved the dumplings, both pan fried seafood and pork shao long pow. General Tao’s chicken was sweet, spicy and yum. Would definitely order this again. Tea smoked duck was slightly dry but lovely smoky flavour and salt and pepper calamari tender and crisp. Hadn’t been back for a while and we were impressed by the service and beautiful food.
Had a private function here before opening hours for a wake/memorial for my Dad, and then entire process from the initial interactions all the way through to walking out the door after the event was a delight. Nikki was so clear and concise ensuring everything I requested was accommodated for, the set up was perfect, the food was really great and enjoyed by all. Through a difficult time, Nikki and her team at Dumpling King made organising this event an absolute breeze, beyond what I could have expected. They accommodated for vegan/vegetarian and gluten free diets. So grateful for the experience.
Been coming here for around 10 years now.
The food has always been great and the service very good. The previous manager Yong (who passed away R.I.P.) and his wife Shelly were fantastic. This has been continued by the current management especially Jin. Staff come and go as you would expect with uni students, but we have always been looked after , brought many friends and family and have enjoyed our food especially the pan fried dumplings and the Mongolian beef...yum..

Amazing vegan/vego options! Vegan chicken was amazing 😻😻 Service was wonderful too! Everyone was so lovely and accommodating. Food was so delicious and fast! Definitely coming back and highly recommend ❤️❤️❤️
Delicious dumplings! Lots of variety with plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians and pescetarians. Staff are friendly and very attentive. Our new go-to for dumplings in the south-eastern suburbs.
Whilst finding free parking can be tricky, (consider parking near Centrelink), the food certainly makes up for it. Prices are not expensive as the portion is sufficient to be shared by two. The signature dishes here would be the Peking duck and the dumplings. The dumplings weren't the best I've tried but were still tasty nonetheless. Further more it's really cheap. You can also share a pot of tea for less than $2.
