Really good clay pot rice for really good value. I tried the eel one and the sauce was perfectly flavoured- it went into the rice as well which made it really tasty- Also the base was perfectly crispy- defs recommend
I ordered beef claypot today. Very good. The beef is really soft. The service is also good.

Menu item: Salted fish and pork loaf
A classic Cantonese comfort meal, the soul of the dish resides in the containment of all raw ingredients cooked together in a claypot over a large flame. Best with preserved meats such as Chinese sausage or cured duck, the contained cooking method allows for flavours of the meat to permeate through the rice as it cooks. The claypot will reach such high heat, any contact with the rice will cause it to crispen up and also develop a smokey toasted layer. Then it's ready to be served up with a side of soy sauce to taste.
The pork loaf here is incredibly tender and has been prepared in such a way that it has a slight bite to it, a supple resistance bursting with juice, disintegrating after a few gentle chews. There is also a welcome smokiness fused with the crunch of the charred rice, very slight hints of sweetness and umami from the soy sauce, every bite, a flavourful and textural delight.
For even more flavour they provide a piece of Cantonese style Salted fish (a cured product akin to anchovy, both of which I love) for that guilty, face scrunching, salty pleasure.
I also noticed that the presence of the ginger shreds on top, which had been steamed with the meat, were there not only for flavour but also to counteract any presence of natural funk from the pork. The addition of the spring onion was also delightful, going beyond the purposes of a garnish but actually providing a necessary release from the heaviness of the overall meal.
Served up fresh, steaming and hotter than the face of the sun, there is little alternative on a cold winters day.
My ideal rating would be 8.7/10 but keep in mind it's brethren in Hong Kong has set for me an impossibly high standard. Still the best I have had in Melbourne so far, highly recommend.
First Taste is SUCH a belated find for me and after tasting the soups and claypot ginger salted fish pork+ rice combinations, which are the most authentically delicious things ever, I am riddled with regret.
Aiming to be here every week from now on, makin’ my way down that menu. 🤣💙
Best clay pot rice I’ve had in melbourne.
It may not be the best appearance but the food is amazing.
The crispiness of the rice on the edges is cooked perfectly.
A healthy and and filling meal indeed!
One of my frequently visited places for sure
Satay beef on claypot rice is mind blown, serving on table piping hot and with the sizzling sound. The rice at the bottom of the pot was gently heated and gave a crispy texture! Their soup were full of ingredients and tastes good too, would definitely come back!
When I have craving for hot pot rice, you will find me here devouring a chicken and mushroom rice...beautiful flavors and lots of chicken. Delicious food will be back!!
I love the XO sauce prawn balls on claypot rice. Arrives piping hot and the prawn balls are hand-made, so flavourful and when eaten with the claypot rice with a dash of their sweet soy sauce, it is awesome! Scrap off the rice on the claypot edges as those burnt bits are the best!
Service is good, must try the soup because mostly all are well cooked in long hours and tasted so delicious. Restaurant ambience is suitable for gathering as not noisy and can hear each other.
One of the best clay pot rice I have in Melbourne. Love their soup, their chilli sauce are fiercely good too.
This place is so authentic that many may not appreciate unless you understand Hong Kong culture. Traditional double boiled soup and hot claypot crispy rice is exactly how is done the Hong Kong way, similarly the Hong Kong style customer services.
Always come here for their soup and clay pot rice. One of the best places for it in Melbourne.
Always hits the spot. Quality is consistent.
Highly recommended if you enjoy clay pot rice and a hearty bowl of soup.
I always like the food, regardless what people say about the service, its a no fuss come in eat and go plc. The prawn claypot is my favorite, and all the brewed soups are amazing and you know theres quality in the soup.
Had a groups dinner here. Everyone ordered a serving of soup (small) which is what they are famous for. Other food isn’t bad either. Food does take a little while to come out though. The service was good and I think the price is reasonable.
