Wow what a great little gem this place is.. Great choice of lunch specials and friendly staff. Munch was off the special menu and was light, refreshing tasted great.
10 ladies, April 10th, the most wonderful dinner at Soul Bistro!Terry is a wonderful host, very funny, we laughed all night.Amazing, tasty food from entrees through to deserts, nothing disappointed.Prices are very reasonable and it is a BYO which is terrific.Highly recommend, give it a try, you will not regret it.We 10 will certainly be back.
Always walked past and wanted to go in because the place looks so welcoming. Went in on a Friday night, terry, the owner, was so friendly, happy to provide us with ice, glasses for my wine and put my boyfriends beers in the fridge (it’s byo). We got many tapas dishes because everything sounded so wonderful, and everything was! Just an amazing place to go for date night or even delicious food with friends or family. Thanks terry!
Duck and mushroom risotto, pot-roasted lamb, Portuguese chicken, BBQ pork: just as good as a takeaway as the meals were when served on site. All the meals have a little or more fusion quirk about them that always made the Soul a great place to eat at.
The prices are low, and at that rate it is well worth grabbing a few meals for the freezer too.
Just as important, keeping up the purchases would keep a wizard chef and great restaurant host in business.
Had a lovely dinner here with friends last night. Food was amazing and the waitress was lovely. The chef also came out to see how our meals were which was nice too. Can’t wait to come back with my husband as there are so many more yummy things on the menu!
Breakfast, tapas, desserts. All absolutely delicious, creative and elegantly presented. The owner is a very kind gentleman with a good sense of humor! Have visited many times in 2018, I need to get back there soon, 2019 is going too fast!
The pork belly bao was very good. I've never had a pork bao that's failed me before and I'm glad that this one did not break that pattern. The kingfish salad was also nice and light, and my friend, who is not a big fan of fish, actually liked it.
I loved how the brownie was served in a sizzling hot stone pan. That unique twist on a classic dessert put it miles ahead of the brownie I had at La Dolce Vita later that night.
Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the service. We ordered everything together, but the pork bao came 10-15 minutes after everyone else's dishes, while the kingfish salad came out 20 minutes after the bao. Furthermore, we were told that the dessert would take 10-15 minutes to be ready but waited nearly 30 minutes for it.
5/5 for food, 2/5 for service. Overall 3.5. Might come back here for their lunch special.

As soon as we got there we were instantly greeted by Terry so was soo lovely and welcoming. It was like he stepped into his house. He took us through the menu very patiently. We got the homemade lemonade Lychee, mint and lime was very refreshing. For the kids we choose beef and bacon burger and white fillet and chips. My daughter who is a very picky eater was able to demolish her plate.
You can tell when a chef cares about the food thats on the plate. The dishes were filled with passion but not over the top like you might find at other fusion restaurants. The food was balanced, the flavors, the size, everything had a place or it just wasnt on the plate. For entree we had the bulgogi pork belly bao and ginger and lemongrass prawns. What a great start. So mush flavour in each dish. For mains we ordered the honey chili maryland duck and sirloin steak with king prawns. Again everything was perfect. Perfect medium rare steak. The duck actually stole my husband's heart. He was soo in love with his meal.
For dessert we decided to share the creme brulee and the kids had ice cream which was included in there kids meal. Our creme brulee was lovely. Perfect way to end our dinner.
What honestly makes this place amazing is Terry. Not only does he cook the meals but we saw him actually delivering the meals himself to the tables. He was such a sweet and humble guy. He had quite a few return customers while we were there. For sure we will be back as well.

Owner chef Terry Leung has been offering diners an exceptional dining experience for almost a decade at his restaurant Soul Bistro in Milton. Personable and extensively experienced in Asian cuisine, Terry’s enthusiasm and flair shines through in the modern Asian dishes he personally creates.
We immediately cooled down with the house made lemonades. The flavours were interesting and we decided upon the Lemon with Rosemary and Mixed Berry and Sarsaparilla. Both were refreshing and delicious.
To start, we ordered the Bulgogi Belly Pork Bao and Asian Nachos from the tapas menu to share. The steamed baos, soft and pillowy housed the pork belly, smoked and tender, dressed with a spicy Korean soy sauce. Most memorable was Terry’s twist on the more traditional nachos. We couldn’t get over the light, crispy texture of the fried wonton skins and the tasty chilli chicken sambal.
For mains, my dining buddy ordered the Beef Brisket, deliciously flavoured with a Middle Eastern spice and served with a spiced cous cous. My diced salmon in Terry’s special sauce, accompanied by a light salad was tasty and cooked to my liking.
For dessert, the Sizzling Chocolate and Almond Brownie is a firm favourite among Terry’s patrons. Served with butterscotch ice cream, macadamia pralines and a warm chocolate fudge sauce, we could understand why! We also shared a delightful dessert platter which included coconut puffs with yuzu, cranberry and chai seed biscuit crumb and mango spiced up with a hint of chilli.
In summary:
The menu is appetising, affordable and innovative.
Service is quick and friendly.
The café is tucked away in a central location and has a nice atmosphere.

Time to update my last review here so Phuong Tran and I walk in at 1pm. Owner Terry who is busy tending to the tables and the kitchen greets us and provides us with menus and cold water. We select a meal off the Lunch Board, two share plates and two cold drinks; Iced Lemon Tea and Iced Cinnamon Latte at $1 each.
*Beef Burger ($14) comes with salad and hot crisp chips. This meal is nicely presented and the beef pattie is nicely seared making it a delicious meal.
*Bulgogi Pork Belly Baos ($10) is served with a spicy Korean sauce and pickled wongbok. Plenty of tender tasty pork belly which hits the spot.
*Cumin Lamb Tenderloin ($10) is really tender and the apple and pumpkin yoghurt complements the sliced lamb.
A nice lunch with Terry entertaining us with tales of his passion for food. Thank you Soul Bistro.
We took a detour to Milton, and set our stomachs loose on a brunch spot with a unique twist to the usual menu items. First, we had to try out their housemade lemonade, at only $5 it is a great value! (also a nice range of flavors). The berry, and poached apple frappe was a nice way to start the day. … and of course I needed a coffee, I haven’t had one yet and it was already almost noon 😂.
Last Saturday was a busy day for Adam and myself, after an early breakfast at Newstead, we headed over for an early lunch at Soul Bistro at Milton to meet up with a couple of friends and try out their weekend brunch menu. . Owner Terry was super friendly, with a contagious enthusiasm. He showed us to our table and also provided menus. Options were vast and aplenty. He explained how he enjoyed adding his own fusion twists to traditional menu items, and we could definitely see that from the menu.
What a gem! Really delicious food - different flavours and textures, and Terry's Hong Kong influence shines through - friendly service, casual vibe, good portion sizes, BYO with a bottle shop just around the corner, very good pricing and lots of parking make Soul Bistro a winner! We opted for the Tapas and Dessert option. The different mixture of flavours was amazing! The fried pork belly was to die for, Asian nachos was a delightful twist on the standard nachos, and the creme brulee rivalled the best I've tasted in French restaurants. Terry believes in using fresh, readily available produce and the tastes confirm that. We'll be back, again and again!
This place is a gem. The food was great and you can tell the chef puts effort into his dishes. All the combinations are so interesting! The lychee lemonade drink was very good too, though coffee is probably not their strength. Definitely coming back again.
A wonderful brunch experience, with fantastic Chinese and Malaysian fusion food. This char siu pork mini waffle dish with spring onion scrambled eggs was absolutely delicious! Excellent service too, and very affordable! $10-14 for most the specials
Going to miss this place a lot when it closes. The food here is far better than anything I've ever had.
We recently dined there with a large group and I would like to thank Terry who was going out of his way to accomodate us with his Set Menu which offered a range of delicious choices for every budget. The food arrived promptly and was nicely presented, super tasty and you can tell he is very passionate about his cooking. We will definitely be back to try his breakfast Menu, too!
Popped in for an impromptu date night dessert, one week after Covid19 restrictions eased. Lovely little place to discover! The owner encouraged us to eat in if we were having the Chocolate Brownie dessert and he proved to us why, it came out as a sizzling sensation with the fudge sauce bubbling underneath the brownie and icecream, most surprising and unexpected, and deliciously yum! There's not too many places around Brisbane to have a nice little "dessert out" at, but this place is definitely a "need to go back" to try more kind of place! The meals sound great too and reasonably priced, so will be back for sure.
