Best cafe in Brisbane!!!!
Caught up with a couple of dear out of town friends who love good food for Sunday late brunch and this place was perfect. She is vegetarian, he and I are omnivores. Three meals ordered and taste shared. All simply wonderfully tasty. So busy catching up we had to delay the request to order, twice - ie attentive service. Glad I booked as it is clearly well patronised, and justifiably so.
Explored this cafe on early October public holiday. Walked in and was greeted by a friendly gentleman. Purposefully ordered the Empanadas de Mama to try and gave it a go with a flat white. Coffee was no doubt a nice strong, smooth and tasteful drink. Importantly, it did match with the three deep fried secret recipe of Empanadas, which was wrapped with spicy pulled beef, garlic, onion and potatoes. I think the aji sauce to go with the empanadas is the hero. Highly recommended. :)
Service was quick and friendly, the food is excellent, nice setting with easy off street parking. We would highly recommend you try this lovely family cafe.
The Jet Centric Foodie
+4
Relaxed atmosphere, fresh and airy. The food has always been good - modern, simple and healthy with a great twist of South American influence. Staff are friendly and laid back. I always enjoy a catch up here with friends for coffee and lunch or brunch. Easy and laid back.
This morning had breakfast with my partner at Petrichor & Co for the first time. I had the slow cooked lamb and she had the beetroot fitters. Both were exceptional! The combination of flavours in the slow cooked lamb were a palette sensation and I’m hoping it remains a regular as I’ll be coming back soon looking for it. The service and atmosphere was really pleasant aswell. Happy we checked it out.
If your looking for breakfast with a little something different this is your place! You do have to wait a little for service but they do well for how busy it is and how many people are serving. This maybe why the coffees where inconsistence. But the food was fantastic, the combinations just worked and the portions where just right. Worth the money.
Empenadas for breakfast. Lucky as. Beautifully made and tasty. Coffees excellent. Hoping to come back in not too distant future to get into the other interesting offerings on the menu.
Well worth a visit and would recommend.
So good, the food is consistently lovely and the service is always great, has become a new favorite local for us.
Do yourself a favour and try the muesli with poached pear or the mushrooms for brekkie, im disappointed to see their rating is 3.3 average because theres only a handful of reviews, they are a solid 5!
I adore South American food & was very excited when we spotted this little gem last week. It was on my hit list straight away. Finally got to try it out for breakfast & definitely did not disappoint. That avocado was delicious with a Sth American twist. Loved the inclusion of dukkah, the heat in the chimchurra & that pea smash. Was disappointed they took the Colombian bubble & squeak from the menu above. The new Autumn menu had Mexican scrambled eggs in it's place I think (which the other half ordered) A delightful array of onions capsicum & salsas etc included with the eggs & a small potato patty along with yellow potato with a zesty lime zing. All tied together it made a beautiful breakfast experience for the both of us (not pooch as we almost licked the plates clean ourselves!) Forgot to mention the coffee! That was also amazing, loved the cute horses head coffee art (well it looked like one) & the coffee was rich, full bodied & delightfully strong. Top marks couldn't fault anything
Saw the menu online and found many of the items really interesting so we wanted to try. I got the Spiced 🥗 Cauliflower Salad and my boyfriend got the 🌮 Breakfast Tacos. The flavors were nice and there was nothing wrong with them, however it was nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go out of their way to visit here, but it’s not a bad place to stop over by if you’re in the area or already passing by and don’t have anywhere in particular to grab brunch at.
On a side note, the 🍠🥓🧀 Sweet Potato and Cheese Muffin with Bacon from the counter was yum! Probably favorite dish of the meal hahaha. Make sure to ask them to heat it up as well!
Overall great experience. Authentic latin american flavours. Highly recomend the Calentado with yummy plantains. Friendly service. The place was really busy but food didn't take long to arrive. Coffee could better.
I think they have a new menu (maybe since my last visit) that does not dissapoint.
Delicious flavourful breakfasts!
We loved our brekky here. It's got a great variety of Latin-American-inspired meals which all taste fresh and delicious.
The coffee is great, too.
Excellent food, unique menu. Could be my top Brisbane cafe breakfast pick.
In terms of the setting, north facing, accessible yet a relatively quiet side street. Subtle ambient music - appreciated, very friendly mature staff - comforting, but not overly spacious. I’d probably book if I was planning on going with any number of people. A nice bench above the sidewalk but I’d feel conscious about the room I was talking up if I was there to study at a table inside.
Two dishes I've had:
Aprea con Sobrebarriga
Nutritionally, probably doesn’t need the eggs, the avocado and roasted sauce (chimichurri) are already two great, heavy creamy elements. In saying that poached eggs are my favourite, and tbh seeing them in the description was likely the deciding factor in my meal choice. The beef had a lovely tenderness as you’d expect but standout was the odd crispy end that added a great additional texture. There wasn’t an overwhelming flavour but there didn’t really need to be either as the roasted sauce, avocado and aprea all chipped in. Its hard to pick a stand out because the elements were actually so well balanced and complimented each other well; but!, if I had to pick one it would be the arepa, just for how surprisingly nice it actually was and the different texture bit brought to the meal.
Petrichor's Patacon
The crispy plantain was good, appreciably unique, at least to me, but probably twice as much as was necessary considering the volume of everything else on the plate. In saying that I wasn’t hard to get down and it didn’t feel like I was eating a plate of chips or anything. The freshness came from the super tender and moist chicken, avocado, sour cream and pickled jalapeños. A bit funny to eat with the size and texture of the plantain but civilised enough, the let down was just the ratio of these elements to the plantain.
Fine coffee. Food was hearty. The zucchini flitters were good and not floury, unlike many cafes we tried. Worth a stop by.
Good vibes, good food, very good service. We had weekend breakfast here, had their arepa, marranitas and empanadas, all tasty!
