Good coffee. Waited for a while but you can tell they take pride in their coffees so they won't rushing through the peak morning rush. I don't mind waiting for good coffee and l wasn't disappointed. Good location so it does get busy with office workers but they were still polite and friendly.

Both my friend and I ordered the chicken, avocado, bacon sandwich on pane. Very nice. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend for a quick and easy CBD lunch.

Nice buys cafe in the city!

-Wild mushroom with truffle oil:
very generous with the mushrooms, the truffle oil really enhanced the mushroom taste of the whole dish. But it did make everything a bit too oily.

-Turkish eggs dukkah and sweet potato stack on pane:
egg was poached and deep fried in a batter, had a special texture to it. But The outside of the sweet potato stack was bay burnt from overcooking. I don't understand why some restaurants still serve burnt food items when they're plating it.

-soy flat white on keepcup: bought a small keepcup from them and tried their coffee. Coffee was nice and smooth, and they have a good collection of keepcup.

They've shown a bit of effort in making simple decoration of the food, but the main thing that really bugged me was the burnt stack.

Been here for lunch a couple of times for lunch and tried their sandwiches. Do appreciate the effort to have more 'gourmet' style sandwiches, but the peking duck wasn't that great and not much quantity of it either.
Reasonably priced though, and beats the heck out of your average sandwich.

Today I had avocado, tomato, basil & feta on Turkish toast with a side of mushrooms. The serve of mushrooms was generous, and the whole meal was just delicious. My colleagues all had poached eggs as their "extra", and everyone's eggs were perfectly done - we are very fussy about our poached eggs! Coffees were also great.

Breakfast at Sage is consistently good, and the staff are friendly and efficient - the reasons we keep coming back for our Team Breakies.

Can only comment on the coffee I received here & all I can say for that is great. It was in a takeaway as I was in a hurry (just been to the Chinese consulate & we were parked probably illegally!!) Asked for strong & hot & that is exactly what I got, nice flavor & pleasant barista

Excellent Breakfast. My avocado and feta (with tomato and basil) on Turkish bread this morning was very good, as was the accompanying side dish of bacon. The café was quite busy, but service was swift and friendly. I enjoyed my coffee -a double flat white- as well. Pleasant surroundings too, outside on the deck. Will definitely be back.

Sage on Ann - Brisbane, CBD. A sign in front of this cafe reads "the best coffee in Brisbane". This is a common occurence around the place though, with different wording often being used at other places (just a couple of doors down, a place says "best in the CBD"). However, Sage on Ann often has many patrons dining there so there must be something that they are doing right and it is so.

My mom told be about an old family friend - with daughters and grandchild - being in Brisbane and wondering about a good place for breakfast. After a fair bit of snooping around for a place that was close, well-received and served breakfast I decided upon Sage on Ann and booked a table for the following morning.

Amongst many eateries within the proxmity, Sage on Ann has a relaxing vibe utilising an eco-building structure and having some quite comfortable seats. It sort of makes for an inverted enclosure where you can just watch the world go by and see the people off to their jobs.
Many of the basics (e.g. cutlery, water etc) are up for self-reliance, which is useful in a number of ways. Once you are ready to order, it is up to the counter.

I decided to get something from here that would be hard to find elsewhere - their Turkish eggs. They poach their eggs then roll the poached eggs in dukka. This is served with a pumpkin rosti, avocado salsa and toasted Turkish bread.
Even if the sign said that the coffee was terrible, I would have still gotten a cup; but, because of the mentions of "Brisbane's best coffee" I knew I had to get a coffee to go with breakfast. In my typical trial-run mentality, it was a double-shot cappuccino.

The portions that they served are just the right size, they are not collosal thus daunting to eat it all but they are not too modest so they can be eaten with reasonable timing. The presentation is also very good.
When the Turkish eggs came out, they were a multi-coloured and vivd sight. They were also a diversely flavoured and fresh concoction.

The eggs - fresh and free-range - were poached to perfection with the yolk still runny. The dukka did not overtake the eggs and even combined with the other parts of the meal.
Unlike the familar potato paradigm, the pumpkin rosti was not overtly oil and lacking flavour. It was sweet, bright and flavourful; the avocado salsa on top was a perfect blend aesthetically and gastronomically. There was also hints of an amazing fruit chutney scattered throughout the rosti and salsa.
As for the Turkish bread, it was simply brilliant in simplicity. The chefs infused a generous amount of melted butter into the bread; this could have easily been eaten by itself.

The most important querry though, is this the best coffee in Brisbane? Well, I have had a lot of coffee in Brisbane over the past few years so I cannot say it is an absolute ranking of the best. However, the coffee is easily some of the most sublime and realised espresso in this town.
They take their time. It is no place for a rushed drink and patiences will await results that have to be tasted. The perfectionist style results in a coffee that is dark in flavour, smooth in texture and fantastically hot. It is well worth coming here for only a coffee (though the coffee will look rather lonely).
I went back for seconds (on a shout of another person at the table), but had the mellocino instead. The results impressed me yet again, two for two!

Sage on Ann is not in the least bit overhyped. Their fare is reasonably good standard and will not cost an insane amount. Service is really friendly and laid back adding more to the inviting vibe. In the middle of possibly the busiest part of the Central Business District - at least traffic wise - is an oddly calm cafe that will be well worth revisiting.

Nice place. I went here with a friend for lunch in August 2012, and had the Pork with papaya salad. It was okay. There were two cubes of pork on my plate, the skin on one was a little burnt and the other was a little underdone.. The papaya salad was nice but hard to finish. You can only eat so much papaya and mint, you know? Needed a little more cherry tomatoes to break it up. My friend had the goat cheese pie. Delicious!!! I wish I had chosen that. I love goat's cheese and it really was amazing. Loved it. I have added a picture of both dishes :) Would return.

The avocado toast with tomato, basil and feta was great. Side of haloumi was well cooked. A really nice breakfast. The serving size was a bit small, that’s the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.
