Very good value restaurant & the food happens to have flavor. My order was the vegetarian bento which had a great selection of finger foods with accompanying sauces & a miso soup. In particular the tempura vegetables were a winner for me, along with the sushi
Popped in with my friend before driving back to Melbourne. Sushi was really good, as was the Eel and Katsudon. The only issue being that other customers who ordered after me got their food before me. My friend nearly finished her meal when mine finally arrived.
The food was fantastic, both the Teriyaki Chicken and Chicken Katsu Curry was amazing and so filling. Staff were lovely and friendly. 100% recommend to anyone
It was excellent experience
Come and enjoy the bento experience that I have done in particular bento b with bbq is the best experience and vegetarian
There are many restaurants to conquer in Brisbane’s South Bank, I may have tried a lot, but I had barely scratched the surface, this place is huge and has a lot to offer. My latest adventure was with this Japanese restaurant just in Grey Street, the ramen poster outside just called me one lunch time and since then I tried two of their offerings.
We visit for dinner with TheFork’s 30% discount voucher. Beautiful San Kai is within South Brisbane’s restaurant precinct which comes alive after dark. We arrive at 6pm and are promptly seated. Cocktails are served and we decide on our dinner order. Kampai!
* Edamame
* Garden Salad
* Breadcrumb Oysters
* Caterpillar Roll (Unagi, Salmon, Tobiko & Avocado)

The food is freshly prepared and the Sashimi Platter is exceptionally fresh. Mum and Phuong Tran enjoy their Blue Harmony and Sakura Cocktails. A great night out. Thank you San Kai!
Second time here and the customer service is still great! Staff are very attentive and kind to us customers. The food is great! I ordered a teriyaki beef don and it was amazing. I love the taste of the beef and the crunchyness from the sliced vegetables and the rice that was flavoured from the teriyaki glaze. The only thing I do not like about this dish is because its rather oily/greasy. The miso soup that came with the dish for free was really good too! I loved the taste and the little slices of tofu. Will come back again!
I ordered unagi rice and beef udon, booth are fantastic and super yum! Fair price with a generous portion :) Suitable for family dining. Happy tummy!!
San Kai in Southbank has various Japanese dishes that tasted great. Tried the Chicken Katsudon, Pork Shogayaki (pork ginger), and Roasted Eggplant. The katsudon and pork ginger tasted pretty good and were cooked well. Loved the eggplant! We scooped the eggplant easily and the taste was amazing! It has the smoky eggplant flavour combined with fragrant miso, which matched really well. Most of the dishes were a bit pricey. However, the lunch hour specials bring some of the prices down quite a bit. Overall, it’s a good lunch in San Kai :)
Absolutely loved my meal and the experience at Sam Kai. From friendly staff, great ambiance and great food you can’t go wrong. My boyfriend and I shared for a entree the calamari, gyoza and a pork bun and for a main we had the foot long soft shell crab sushi roll, fried rice and the Buta Shogayaki, everything was delicious! We will definitely be back to try more meals on the menu.
