This is our favourite restaurant at Sunny Park with their constantly changing Menu Board. We visit for lunch and place our orders before the lunchtime crowd.
*Kim Chi Beef Baos are freshly prepared and look appetising. The Beef patties are overdone but this meal is good.
*Italian Meatballs are nicely presented and delicious. The serving could be a tad larger!
*Mixed Berry Smoothie was surprisingly good, refreshing and tasty!
Our lunch is enjoyable and the service friendly and helpful. Thank you guys!
Pretty and refreshing! Such a beautiful start to my Sunday lunch and l always love a cafe that is kid and pet family. Always a bonus with me especially when it comes with yummy food and drinks. I tried the Dragonfruit and Pineapple Slushie and Iced Dirty Chai Latte. Both were great. If you love Bao buns than Southside Bistro is the cafe for you. It’s a Bao bun heaven! That’s exactly what it felt like. With the best Bao bun options too. We went with the deep fried fish paired with yummy sweet potato chips.Another option that l couldn’t resist was the Ramen burger. Ramen noodle buns with satay caramel pork belly, kimchi, charred Asian greens and seaweed salted fries. I mean l could l resist that. Amazing!
If you’ve never had a breakfast puffle, get yourself to Southside Bistro to try one!
I’ve oft said that I can’t get excited about the typical breakfast options at most cafes. Coupled with the fact that I am very much not a morning person, means I rarely make the effort to go out for breakfast. But, this day was different - wifey wanted to go to Southside Bistro to claim her free birthday dessert, and as we’ve never been there for breakfast (plenty of times for dinner though!) it was a perfect time to check out their menu options.
Our order:
* breakfast puffle, $16 - topped with pork floss, oolong tea egg, homemade pickles, steamed rice, deep fried youtiao, kimchi and kewpie mayo
* haloumi, $18 - with miso & maple caramelised pear, roasted onion cream, poached rhubarb, rocket, toasted pepitas and purple rice
* matcha bombe Alaska, $16 - soft meringue, red bean purée, coconut crumb, matcha pudding, mango jelly
We’ve had their dessert puffles many times from our previous dinner visits, but this savoury twist was every bit as enjoyable as their sweet options. It was just a great mix of flavours and textures, all familiar ones to my (Asian) palate but never quite experienced in such an all-star lineup. It worked fantastically and I’d be happy eating this again and again.
Wifey’s choice of the haloumi was also a flavour bomb (in the positive sense of the word). Salty, sweet, soft, chewy... I don’t know how these guys just churn out hit after hit but they’ve got fusion down to a fine art.
Speaking of which, the dessert looked like a work of art too. It was lovely digging through the torched meringue to uncover the goodies below.
I’d definitely get out of bed for these breakfasts. What should I try next?
