Plant based dining in West End.
👩‍🍳Service: Attentive and friendly staff. Food waiting time (30mins+ with less than 3 tables of customer)

🌃Vibe: Nice little cafe in the middle of the apartment buildings. (Heater was a +)

🥗Food: (Recommend) Scrambled Silken Tofu w/ oyster mushrooms, sourdough and sesame cashew cheese.
(Recommend) Mushroom dumplings with beetroot broth
Tempeh Toastie, eggplant, leaf, potato cheese

* Scrambled silken tofu is full of flavour, if you’re a big fan of mushrooms, we would recommend this dish. The sesame cashew cheese is very delicious and well balanced.
* The combination of mushroom dumplings with beetroot broth is quite interesting. No surprises, just imagine putting some mushroom dumplings in beetroot sauce. Tasty. Portion is very small, consider is as a side dish instead of a main.
* Tempeh Toastie is delicious, full of flavours.

🚙Parking: Paid street parking. Possibly hard to find one during rush hours.

Delicious vegan food with very attentive and friendly staff. Excellent combinations of elements on the plate, we really loved the mushroom dumplings and roasted eggplant

This is a plant based eatery so zero cow's milk for your flat whites! We ordered ours with soy, not a bad effort with the double shots, but I do prefer my coffee with cow's milk! My tempah toastie was super tasty with the addition of red cabbage & hints of chilli

Delicious, creative, satisfying food served by attentive, lovely people - I love this place. A real asset to Brisbane. Can't fault our experiences at Grown, on any of our dozen or so visits.

Wanted to go to another cafe but took a wrong turn 🌚- Wow! Such a surprise! - A Rarely seen place selling really decent loose leaf tea! And a Interesting drink menu!
Tried seasonal shrub as well - well... A bit too vinegar maybe?
This affogato is pretty cool - could be my go-to morning coffee if they have a shop in the city!🍨🤓

Beautiful food just a stone's throw from the river. There's a lovely breeze when you sit in the outdoor area which made it a really nice and relaxing spot to sit down for brunch.
I had the pearl couscous and my friends had the granola and French toast. Everything was delicious and I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu.

I was hoping to find the perfect place to take someone special, not just anywhere. I searched and searched and then I came across Grown. I have to say, I was incredibly impressed with the service, the food and the atmosphere. All the menu items were perfectly made and tasted amazing. They are quite well priced for the high quality as well. I will be certainly going back ASAP!

Went there today with a friend that recommended the place. I can see why. The menu is refreshingly different and has a different focus to other run of the mill cafes in the area. The food was fresh, aesthetically pleasing and inventive. I personally loved the use of tofu in the menu as an alternative to meat. I tried my friend's espresso and it was probably the best coffee of the day after our coffee hunting trip to three other coffee spots in west end. If you haven't, you need to check this place out!

I'd like to personally thank the Visionary plant-based food innovators and entrepreneurs at Grown for the amazing catering services they provided to support Forest Lake State High School's BIONAUTS STEM expedition this year.

BIONAUTS is a program to link students with scientists in an effort to understand and protect the biodiversity of our planet. Participation in this initiative allows students to apply their STEM knowledge and expertise in a real-world capacity to address the alarming global issue of declining species biodiversity in a significant and meaningful way. The project affords students the unique opportunity to engage collaboratively with scientists who are specialists in the disciplines of Entomology, Genomics and Bioinformatics, to collect, classify and analyse the DNA of specimens found in the field. As over 86% of terrestrial organisms have not as yet been taxonomically classified to the species level, it is hoped that the BIONAUTS endeavour will assist in closing this knowledge gap. The importance of this project is further highlighted by scientific estimates that suggest that we are losing up to 200 species every day, many of which may not even be known to exist in the first instance.

Thanks to Grown, the BIONAUTS project now allows students to not only assist in the potential discovery and protection of novel species, but also significantly decrease their impact on the environment. 50+ students, teachers, entomologists, dietitian/accredited nutritionist (Kiah Paetz) & "The Mad Tones" Band were lucky enough to indulge in a wonderful and delicious cuisine that not only delights the senses, but also helps to fight climate change & protect biodiversity.

During the course of the three expedition days at Maleny's Bellthorpe State Forest, the Grown catering team literally worked from sunrise to sunset preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner from the freshest, sustainable & locally-sourced produce.  They somehow succeeded in transporting the entirety of their magical West End Cafe dining experience to the Maleny Wedding Retreat rainforest venue, a logistically challenging and impressive feat in its own right.  I highly recommend that plant-based food neophytes embark on a culinary journey of a lifetime at one of Grown's exquisite Pop-Up Degustations when such an opportunity next presents itself.  Early bookings are advised as these events are quickly sold out, especially when collaborations with the highly acclaimed Chef Alejandro Cancino are involved. :) 

The majority of participants on the BIONAUTS expedition were omnivores, who had never tried a plant-based diet before. Initial survey feedback suggests that the healthy, nutritious and delicious Grown menu engendered a significant attitudinal shift as far as adolescent dietary habits are concerned. Students were greatly impressed by the quality and quantity of the food, and are now happy to try different plant based foods which are better for the environment than meat and dairy foods (less CO2 footprint).

Initial data analysis suggests that the Grown plant-based diet-fueled expedition team helped save: 470,100 L of water, 1050 kgs of CO2 emissions, 300 square metres of forest, 2050 kgs of grain & 100 animal lives.

The amazing gluten free pancakes, homemade ice cream and delectable hash browns were definite crowd favourites! "Really delicious", says our Year 10 Dux :)

To summarise, the inspiring plant-based food creations developed by Grown resulted in the whole expedition learning community resonating with the metaphysical sentiments displayed so prominently on their West End Cafe menu (i.e., "Food is more than a commodity. It's also a community. What you eat literally becomes you. Every bite connects you to the whole World" - Ocean Robbins").

Absolutely wowed by each dish we had. The presentation, taste and creativity each dish delivered was on point. The flavours were unique and complemented each other. We had the pan fried zucchini, baked beetroot, Smokey mash tempeh and organic baked potatoes. Service was snappy, friendly, informative and accommodating. Fine dining in Brisbane at its best.

We had such a wonderful dinner here at Easter. Grabbed a bunch of friends and fam and ordered the chefs banquet (i.e every item on their dinner menu!). All plant based of course and the dishes are made from local ingredients. I would say Grown offers incredible comfort food- simple dishes with a twist.

Absolutely amazing! We came in a group of 5 last night and chose the banquet for $35 each. Everything was delicious and you don't go hungry. The drinks were also so yummy!!! I would go again to try the breakfast menu 😍

Not much to say that hasn’t already been said. Gorgeous vegan food and coffee. Seating is simple/limited, but an amazing spot for brunch regardless - we’ll be back!

Totally agree!! Cool, upmarket feel, alternative vegan place with style. Dog friendly, attentive staff, definitely flavoursome and gourmet foods. Limited selection but awesome options, as is wine selections, very yummy. Unpretentious so go as you are. The Chef knows his stuff, the owner is gorgeous earthly and the stuff genuinely seems to want to be there. Love it (BTW I ain't even a fully fledged vegetarian or vegan, working up to it 😅 nor is my teen, who loved it).

I had the sesame avocado toast and it was delish! A unique take on a classic dish too. Really nice service and they even provide blankets when it gets a little chilly.

Amazing experience! Had a birthday celebration dinner here tonight and decided to go with the Chefs Choice Banquet so we could try most of the menu. It was awesome! So great that everything was vegan. We loved every dish. The service was friendly and we ended the lovely meal with trying the awesome desserts. The flan was beautiful and so yum! Thank you everyone at Grown for treating us to such an awesome tastebud experience. We will be back!

The potato rosti err hash browns were perfectly cooked. The concept well thought out and well received but, though I understand it's targeted at being really healthy food, it could use just a little more spice, zing, heat, umami or salt to really balance it out. Chilli, lime, Indian or Asian spices and dare I say salt (it's on the table) or just something a little more to be special.
