Coffee is amazing! And the food is beautiful, both times I've been everything has been great. Such a beautiful warehouse atmosphere too but make sure to be early if you're meeting someone parking isn't the best in this area

Gorgeous lil joint with a jazz band, cheese and plonk. Fab vibe + I adore the interior design. Staff fab too.

I could not recommend Vieille Branche enough! I recently had my baby shower there and Jen and JC just made everything so easy. From providing amazing food and drinks to setting up the venue beautifully and providing incredible service I could not have asked for anything more. If you're looking for a place to hold an event you can't go past Vieille Branche if i could give it more than 5 out of 5 I would.

Okay, I'll get down to it right away. Mr P. and I were somewhat disappointed. Although it is a lovely space with lots of interesting things to peruse (including all the old books we were sitting next to), we felt a bit left out. The staff were off-hand, including the young lady at the front who waved a vague hand to a table which had a Reserved sign on it already. So we didn't sit there! Our order of frîtes did not arrive, so I had to hunt them up. In fact, the young man didn't seem to know what frîtes were, or maybe it was our terrible French accent? Then I had to hunt up the herbed mayo which was supposed to come with. Not a good start folks.

I chose a duck tartine, which as you may know, is an open-faced sandwich. No surprises there, but for $24 I expected something pretty whizz-bang. It ended up being a slice of bread which was near impossible to get into (frankly I would have needed a buzz-saw to access it) with a few thin slices of duck. I would've needed tweezers to pick out the slivers of fig, and a microscope for the wee dots of blue cheese. And of course, you get loads of (way too many) bitter greens to fill in the blank spots. Not happy Jan (as the old commercial goes.) Oh, but the incredibly fresh walnuts were fabulously crunchy.

Mr P. chose the champignons (aka mushroom) tartine with prosciutto and pecorino. Strangely the photo looks like blue cheese but it wasn't:) He mentioned that he thought the mushies would be warm; they weren't, so that was a bit odd to him. Not sure I would necessarily expect a warm topping on a sandwich, but that's Mr P. for you. The prosciutto was lovely, full of flavour and an elegant sufficiency. And I reckon he had a lot less of those nasty greens than I did:=)

Okay, so finally the frîtes came out, and finally we got the mayo. What can I say? They were fries, and they were fine, if a little lukewarm. And what's with the no-salt regime lately? Suddenly, fries are coming out here, there and everwhere sadly salt-free!

The Pickings' Verdict: intriguing place to hang out, food overpriced in my opinion, and service a bit on the vague side, but I would like to go back just to try more things and see if I can catch the staff on a better day.

This is gorgeous gem of a restaurant, the decor and atmosphere is delightful, the service wonderful and prompt, the coffee devine and food delicious. Highly recommended!

Went and grabbed some brunch with Iron Fist the other day in the relatively unexplored (at least on my part) foodie hub along Fox St in Albion. Iron Fist had actually done some research and suggested that this would be a brunchy place that we both enjoy so much. . Arriving at around 11am, it was around half full. Our attention was immediately captivated by the many creative antiquities decorating the store situated in such an industrial area. It made for a very unique and rustic vibe. Having made an appointment nearby in 45 mins, we asked the waitress if it would be better for us to order take away or whether there would be enough time for us to enjoy a sit down lunch. To this she confidently assured us that we would be able to finish in time, so we grabbed a table and sat down.

Came here a month ago. The location is quite secluded. I had to wait for 15 minutes before seated.

The interior is unique. The wall is filled with vintage decorations, such as painting and vintage home appliances. There was live music when I came, which increases the ambience of the shop.
Ordered coffee. It came out pretty quick. But then, after 15 minutes, the staff came to us saying that our order was not placed due to technical issues with the system. So, we re-ordered the food and wait for another 10 minutes. This shows that the service is not that good.

For the food, I ordered croissant with smoked leg ham and Le Classic Toastie. The food was normal, not particularly delicious but had no major flaw too. It was quite pricey for the portion.

I might come back here again in the future as the interior of the shop is very cosy. Hopefully, the service will be better when I come back here.

The food is special. I'm convinced they cook their eggs in some holy duck lard. There is a small dog who will greet you at the tables and allow petting for a small food fee. They have a Nordic horn to signal the close of kitchen. Why haven't you eaten here yet?

Vieille Branche is a lovely French inspired cafe in a mixed use space right in the middle of industrial Albion. It is a diamond in the rough. I have been here several times now and the food has been lovely each time. The service was a little unfriendly on my first visit but has been fine on subsequent visits. I had to go to the counter for menus and to order the first time but was offered table service other times.

Each time my food arrived in good time and was delicious with a lovely mix of flavours. Unfortunately the first time I went the table water was warm. They do not refrigerate the bottles for the table. On a hot day the interior is warm and the lack of cold water very noticeable. This wasn't an issue on other visits when the weather was cooler. I recommend the potato gillette for a light lunch or if you want room left over for the dessert of the day.

On my second visit the weather was cooler and the cauliflower, cheese and apple soup was delicious and a great way to warm up.

Note that they have their own cheese shop next door so any dish served with cheese will be amazing. Yes, even the open grill. It is made with gruyere and is just divine.
