We love the Pho Inn! Eat in, eat out whatever, just make sure you eat. The team is always friendly and the food is always fresh. When you see the family children pulling fresh mint and basil leaves for after school chores, you can be sure it's going to be amazing food, and it is.

Good selection of Vietnamese food. Served up quickly. Pick of the bunch was the beef stew, Vietnamese pancake was disappointing. Friendly staff

Delicious authentic Vietnamese food! Good selection of sauces and that chilli paste is fire and best with fresh coconut to quench your thirst

Had an amazing dinner here with my family everytime we visited. We love the vermicelli with sugarcane prawns, Bun Bo Hue and Papaya salad. The Pho is also amazing 😋😍.
Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Busy little place, service was great, drinks are full of sugar, the omelette I ordered was a bit oily and seems got MSG in it which made me feel super thirsty for the rest of the night. Otherwise it’s a nice local Vietnamese choice, saw heaps of Vietnamese clients eating there so must be authentic

Absolutely delicious food full of flavour! Service is friendly and the dishes come out fast. Portions are big and great value. Highly recommend the Sugarcane prawn vermicelli salad, Special beef pho, Vietnamese pancake and Laksa ^.^ Our go-to dishes every week!

Consistently delicious every time! Wait staff are lovely too. My go too meals are the chicken rice paper rolls (sauce is outstanding!) and the pork spring rolls. Iced coffee or lemon soda to drink.

The review so far say 4.5 star.
I sat down and order pho to check it out on the broth.
It is up to a level that I can say it is 5 star.
Very good.
Will come back for papaya salad and see it is 5 star too ?

An impressive Cafe with a team of happy people. I like the positive vibe here and the friendly staff always have time for a chat. My Merlo Cafe Latte is nicely presented, intense and full flavoured. I commend the Barista as I leave and it’s smiles all round. An interesting Cafe that sells fresh fruit l!

Perused the menu of this cafe on the other day and discovered an item named CME. My curiosity pushed me to give it a go on my vegetarian day so went for it this morning. Don’t ask me why they name it as CME, but it is definitely a good choice for vegetarian. When it came to the table, I was surprised by its huge portions including spinaches, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, cheese and a perfect poached egg. Hero should be the balsamic glaze, which reminded me the time that I have the nice vinegar at my April trip in Italy. Importantly, the above average cup Merlo flat white made the whole brekkie to perfection and this brekkie deserves a full mark from me. 👍😋

Last visit: Nov 27, 2016 Rating 4/5

Great cafe in Camp Hill, the breakfast is usually fantastic (There have been some days it was a little less then great, but often I would eat here). The staff are all friendly including the owner,). I have had better coffee but it's still worth it, especially if you add a spoonful of sugar is in it.

Breakfast menu I would recommend, lunch menu is subpar in comparison and is the reason for the 4 stars. I tried it once but wasn't really a fan of it.

Another amazing local cafe. Camp hill has some nice cafes but this has to be one of my favs. Perfect for the brunch with friends. Their iced coffee was perfect for the summery day. The poached eggs were perfect. You can tell from the taste they they use quality products. Pancakes were so fluffy and delicious. Will be back. Definately support the locals.

The food is reasonable but staff have a poor attitude and service is unacceptably slow. We sat down one weekend morning at a table just vacated by another group. The waiter promptly cleared the plates and glasses and wiped the table down for us. Minutes later when we went to order at the counter, we were berated by another staff member for sitting at a "reserved" table. Nothing we said could convince this person that a)there was no reserved sign on the table and b)her colleague had facilitated our use of the table without mentioning it was reserved. We then ordered our food and drinks. We then sat for an hour twiddling our thumbs waiting for food to arrive. Ultimately we left hungry, unwilling to waste more of our day waiting for a meal that wasn't coming. Lift your game Fig Tree Deli, and drop the pretension. This was our last visit here.
Scrambled Ebs
The Fig Tree Deli is not too bad. We came here because we just felt like a regular breakfast and found ourselves here. It's by no means fancy or trendy - it's just a cafe situated amongst a strip of shops at Camp Hill Marketplace. Food came out very quickly and before the coffees. My partner got the Big Fig and I got the Savoury Mince. The big breakfast did not come with toast (though I think it normally does and they just forgot ours) but they brought some around when he asked. Unfortunately his food started to get cold by the time it came. But it had everything - bacon, haloumi, sausage, hash brown, 2 eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach. My mince was fairly sweet from the tomato sauce used and then sweeter again because of the capsicum relish on top - not normally how I would prefer it but I quite enjoyed it. The coffees weren't bad either. Overall I would return again whenever I felt like a solid good ol' bacon and eggs type breakfast.

The decor is cute; there’s books, newspapers and magazines to read (perhaps while you wait for your food?!)... what the decor makes up for is the staff’s lack of personality and customer service skills. I asked the ingredients of one of the dishes and got a “ummm I don’t know” despite him being surrounded by other staff and, you know, the people who make it... couldn’t be bothered. Ordered poached eggs to be safe and when it was delivered (different person this time), she was underwhelming and lacked any sort of friendliness or personality. The eggs were over cooked. Meal size was decent though. Quite disappointing because I thought it would be better from the outlook of the deli. Won’t be returning.
Hungry Gal
Wow this place's quality of service has taken a dive.

Can't comment on food as only ordered a take away coffee which I had to wait ten minutes for (only coffee order) and it was wrong. Coffee was ok - it's Merlo so you have to be kinda desperate to begin with.
Catdog
Nice selection of goods in the deli, have had both lunch and breakfast here and the food is tasty. The blt on Turkish bread was really yum, and the banana walnut bread was also great. Will be going back.

I finally tried this place.. and I won’t be returning. Food came out promptly but it was a very underwhelming plate of eggs benedict with over cooked eggs. I was well over halfway through my meal before I received my coffee.

Been here a few times now. Coffee is generallly quite good. Food has been good everytime. Waiters are nice and greet you with a smile. Plenty of room for small or large groups. We easily sat 10 people.
New favourite brunch spot! Nestled along Whites Hill village in Camp Hill, is this gem of a place. Really enjoyed the ease of parking, casual Sunday atmosphere and friendly service. Ordered the "CME" - poached egg, 2 pieces of ciabatta, mushrooms, cherry tomato and goats cheese (I added an additional hash brown). Very tasty, would definitely go back!

Lovely lunch from the deli. Meals were fresh, simple and tasty. Basic menu for lunch but just enough options. Quick service and great coffee.

This is probably the best place to have breakfast in this shopping village. I was disappointed with my coffee, but I have to be honest I am not a Merlo fan. In many cases I will avoid a cafe, if I see the Merlo sign, but having said that my cappuccino was acceptable. Counter balancing this was the meal, which was generous and very tasty.

I had the bacon and egg panini with aioli. This was great for the price. My friend had a Big Fig, which is the super size breakfast with the lot. They are not kidding about a big breakfast, it is YUUUGE!! This cafe has a wonderful ambiance and is a very pleasant place to relax and read a magazine. If you are younger, you could quite happily sit here for hours Facebooking and texting, without having to engage anyone at the table in conversation. Bliss!

Great spot. I say, give it a go. I'll have a cold drink or a hot chocolate there next time. Who knows, you may be a Merlo fan and will love the coffee, like my house mate did.

The heartland of Samuel Village, the real meeting hub where good and affordable produce (the specialty kind) can be purchased, as well as a decent meal, plus some other businesses, all combine together with everything a general shopping trip requires where this is the soul of it all - the Fig Tree Delicatessen. What I have said alone will indicate that it is quite welcome, and worth a try to any local or visitor to the local area.

Getting here, how that happened was more or less an occurrence on top of another occurrence. After a weekend away at the coast, my housemate/dining buddy had told me about this new village being opened up at the top of Camp Hill. It was already in its first stage with a few outlets in business, and a couple of others about to open, plus there was a second stage already being planned. I forget the name of it at the moment, but this was right next door to Samuel Village - which surprisingly with so long living not that far from it, I haven't really given it that much of a go. Well, that was soon to end.

A usual weekend trip with my dining buddy and I includes finding a place for coffee, which commences to a grocery shop. In checking the new coming village and what there is in store for that place - some of the outlets I am excited for - it was then giving a scour of Samuel Village for the eateries and such there. It has quite a few to tick off the list, and some of them do have coffee. Going from one side to the other, after scanning the choices here, the delicatessen was the chosen place.

Inside of this place is big, and even so they had to find new areas to accommodate all the seating. Half of the main area is the shop for all the produce, and in the main area are a few tables, mostly small with a couple of big ones for bigger groups. Expanding further, there is the island in the middle of the car park out the front and a couple on the side walk just out the front. Where my dining buddy and I sat was sort of like an alleyway mixed with a side entrance; once upon a time it probably was. Whichever way you put it, even in being in an affluent place, all of this can give an industrial feel which admittedly would give it character. This side entrance place was cool in temperature, had a calming atmosphere and a few nick-nacks around the place allowed it to look like they thought about it as well. Most of this is like design by circumstance.

This is probably indicative of the delicatessen as a whole, but the service is very much in the background and kept to the bare minimum. This is necessary as it adds to the whole feel and aesthetic of what it is. How it goes is that you go up to the counter and order your grub, then go and find a table. With how efficient it is, it depends if you have somewhere to be soon or that you have all the time in the world - chose somewhere around the middle of that and it describes the pace pretty well. Stay for a bit and be relaxed, or have a small meal but be on your way.

As for the menu, it is all simple, home style cuisine. The big selection comes at breakfast, where there is a range of light and big breakfasts in which most of them are pipping hot. It if is a simple pastry or piece of toast you want, or a hot meal like pancakes, they have you covered. Adding on to that is a good range of extras if you want to build up your meal.

Jump onto lunch, and it is still wholesome. What they have is a range of sandwiches, salads, burgers and tarts - the usual stuff. That is not counting for all the sweets in the cabinet to have with coffee. Which speaks of which ... their drinks selection. It is not the biggest one, just basically coffees, teas and shakes. This would definitely have PG rating at most if eateries could be rated like that, but it gets to confusing. Ignore that analogy please.

So on to some good old breakfast, what to get? After a bit of a look, and weighing up to get extras or go the whole hog, the value option would have been a big breakfast. It ain't the full English, but it does give a filling and substantial feed - bacon (requested crispy), pork sausage, hash brown, several cherry tomatoes, a couple of eggs your way (poached, yolk runny), mushrooms and haloumi with a side of buttered, toasted ciabatta. You know what you are getting with this, and it can be a filling and satisfying meal at the best of times - and this was pretty close to that.

The whole meal was substantially sized, and each part of it delicious. The cut of bacon was a generous size and smokey. It did not have too much fat on it, and was tenderly cooked. Next, the sausage was a homestyle and by Kobe. The meat that was in the sausage was tender, plus was really good quality, as well as having a flavour I could not quite put my finger on and knew regardless that it was great - I think it might have been honey mixed in. Because I am top bloke, I recommended my dining buddy try the last bit and he was impressed. The cherry tomatoes simply exploded either in your mouth or on the fork, the mushrooms were sauteed to the perfect degree, and the haloumi was a treat as per usual. Take or leave the hash brown, as it is essentially a hash brown, though I do like the hotness plus the crisp of its coating, and the eggs were excellent. The yolk ran like lava, and were thick and oozy. It was completed all up by a few bits of lovely ciabatta which were enhanced by butter already infused into the bread. This made me leave really satiated, and thinking really positively about the delicatessen as a whole.

Usually the coffee orders and critiques would precede the actual food order, however for the sake of flow - this is coming after. Essentially everything here had the potential to make this place have a perfect 5-star rating, and that is not hyperbole. I say this since the coffee here is only okay, possibly would be underwhelming if it were not drunk in conjunction to a full meal but adequate enough if so. It is Merlo, which really is a crap shoot and depends on the barista behind the machine. Here, it was competently made but not remarkable. That about sums up the doppio that I had. Otherwise, it was a fine meal in itself.

For his breakfast dessert, my dining buddy got a date slice, buttered, afterwards. I didn't request anything personally; the date slice was split in half. This was good and solid, the dates really came out in the mixture, it was tasty and the butter they put on was great quality and really thickly spread. It would be perfect with another cup of coffee, which I did not order - sorry about that.

Never mind what the narrative to getting here in the end was, but the ultimate end goes something along these lines. With where I have been living for the past eight years (since this review), from what I remember this deli was there from the start. So many times passing it, seeing it out of the corner of my eye, and supporting the local businesses - how it got this far without trying it out, I don't know. That especially goes for how good the grub at this place is, and general vibe of the location. Not that I have much experience with delicatessens, but I can assume that they are what they are; however, what they are are some of the most honest to goodness fare around with no sense of pretense about them whatsoever.

And wherever I may go with delicatessens in the future - on holiday, at work or whatnot - this will likely be the same conclusion with each one, however it is not in my beliefs that this is through a delicatessen being a delicatessen being a delicatessen. Why it is instead, is what they represent, and that is the highest quality food that is the best indication of local produce and it is not for exclusive prices. Little can be taken away from that.

Service was phenomenally slow, the place was not surprisingly packed and still took about 20 mins for a coffee to come out. Coffee not properly tamped and the milk clearly wasn't at the desirable 60-70 degrees. 'White' cups had permanent coffee stains and cutlery not polished. What could be a fine place lacked both the basics and finesse of an acceptable cafe, especially with the better local competitors in consideration.

I didn't eat here, but the food looks great and it had a nice vibe. I was just stopping by to pick up two small takeaway lattes to take up to whites hill reserve to watch my son play soccer. Merlo coffee so feeling confident. Dreadful milkiest most tasteless coffee. I've just tipped it out. Don't go here if you're after a decent coffee.

I've only had breakfast at Fig Tree but they have always been tasty and good value. The 'Big Fig' breakfast is suitably massive and is a delicious array of items including grilled haloumi (always a big tick from me!). I'm a sucker for a good Eggs Benedict and these guys offer a pretty good one. I love these operations that combine all the goodness of a deli selection eg. cheeses, relishes, breads etc. with a food menu that utilises these very ingredients. Clever business model. Good food coupled with fast, friendly service makes it pretty clear why this place is always buzzing with locals.

So good love it. Always a great coffee and I'm hard to please. 10/10 if it went that high. Never have I encountered a bad meal or any poor customer service. Great little business

just down from 'Pho Inn' and so so much better if they did pho it would be wonderful, every thing is done with care and staff are friendly and happy - food fantastic!

My favourite place this side of Brisbane, maybe all of Brisvane. Always A+ service, A+ food, A+ pricing. The best bacon in Queensland. I have dreams about breakfasts like this.

Overrated. Lots of potential but poor staff.
Would have bought fresh pasta but could not find and no offer of assistance.

Was "eye-balled" by a waiter for trying to open a window.

Selected soft drink, no glass offered. Had to ask for ice and straw.

Apple crumble delicious but poorly presented. .. sitting alone on a small plate.

I can do better than this at home.
There are much better coffee delis around.

Delicious! The food is amazing and reasonably priced. Service is great and really helpful. Love being able to wander the shelves of the deli whilst waiting for takeaway :-)

Happy customer. This is a great place for breakfast, lunch, morning or afternoon tea. Staff is terrific, coffee is the best around (the baristas here are among the best), food is great (no matter what you order) and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. We go there often and are never disappointed.

We stopped for breakfast after walking the 4 klms from our home. Vibrant but friendly and with plenty of places to sit. You take a menu but order and pay at the counter. Juices etc are self serve...
Bit confusing for first timers but it's clear the have their regulars. Food very good and coffee (Merlo) goo too. Service quick and friendly. We will definitely go back and recommend it as a great breakfast/ brunch spot on a sunny weekend morning
Satiety Society
The food was delicious and the service friendly. We sat inside to avoid the traffic fumes. It meant that I sat looking at the deli items and mentally spending up big while we waited for our meals. So many delicious chutneys and sweet treats. The kids' ham and cheese fingers arrived first. We had asked for tomato as well but this wasn't added despite being written down by the person who took our order. The ham looked fresh and as if it were cut straight off the bone. The cheese was perfectly melted and junior was very happy indeed despite the missing tomato. The prawn linguini arrived with a smattering of freshly grated parmesan and fresh dill. The sauce was creamy and delicious and the correct ratio of sauce to pasta. There were a generous number of juicy prawns too. The goat feta tart included perfectly roasted pumpkin and was generally soft inside and surrounded by lovely, slightly crisp pastry. Perfect! The salad was good too. We did ask for water for the table and it never arrived. Apart from that (and the missing tomato) everything was great and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

The food here was nice, nothing amazing but still yum. A bit over priced for us but the service was good and I liked my meal. I do have to agree with other people on here about the amount of out of control children with parents ignoring them. That was the biggest down fall which made us stuff our faces as quick as possible to leave.

Our new brekky joint. My wife and I visited the FTD for brekky yesterday, because we're about to move in to the area and wanted to find a local cafe. The experience was very good. When we mentioned we'd bought a house nearby, the guy behind the counter was very helpful, telling us the cafe opening times and info about the area. We enjoyed our meals and coffee, the service and also the atmosphere. We'll definitely be back again.
Dee
Does Not Like It. This used to be a great place. All I can say is that it thinks it is" too cool for school" and now the service and the coffee is horrible. The last time we went there our coffee was cold. Tables are dirty. Wait staff ignore you.
Casey H
Like other people have pointed out, I really think this cafe only survives because there is no other local competition. The wait staff really need to be trained to be more efficient and attentive to their customers- and not just to their regulars! I've been there a few times but today, after having to clear off someone else's dirty dishes and spilt food (despite two requests to the wait staff to clean it!) and forgotten coffees (again after a reminder to the waitress when our food arrived), it's definitely made the never again list.
GDL
Could be AMAZING. I think this place is so popular because it has the monopoly of the area - There is no other Cafe at the Samuel Village so their mediocre food & service is just accepted. I know that must sound harsh but compared to other places just up ( or down) the road I found my 3 visits their very disappointing and although we are within walking distance i'd rather drive a few km's and go have breakfast or afternoon tea elsewhere. I do hope they can up their game a bit (and put more effort into training their staff) as it was so much potential !
JoJo
I was very impressed by all staff members, they demonstrated exceptional customer service! Timely delivery of order and delicious products. I highly recommend!

Poor.customer.service. Stood waiting to be acknowledged for 10 mins. was invisible. terrible customer service.
Kat
Good service, great coffee.. Being only a five minute drive from my house Fig Tree is our local cafe. The food is always great and the coffee is excellent. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Favorite dish : the Ruben's sandwich, it's amazing but unfortunately does not appear on the special board often enough !! Should definitely be added to the main menu.
Food Critic
The food was okay. The staff need to improve on their customer service & smile, they also should not show favouritism for regular customers. Our order was slow & came out after other customer's orders.
Blossom
Disagree with Kate James review. This place is great! As for "bogan wanna be clientele" perhaps they can spell threw (who is the bogan) unlike this reviewer. I think this snobby reviewer is more of a whinger. Some people are hard to please.

Diana. Called in here for a quick takeaway flat white. Not a bad Merlo, although I did request a strong one. Clean & fresh looking deli area with outdoor & indoor seating. Pleasant staff & a great cake selection.

Our favourite regular little local...our home away from home.. Michael & I absolutely love The Fig Tree Deli. It is our absolute favourite little local.....our home away from home for breakfast or lunch with a fabulous coffee!!!
From the very personalised friendly service from every staff member....to the best merlo coffee made by Matt & the team....to the fabulous food served for breakfast or lunch & made special by Chef Tom & his team....Molly & David should be so proud! They both & their fantastic team all work so hard.
We love The Fig Tree Del and it really is a special place for us both and we feel very much part of this very special family. Catherine & Michael Knowles.

Service matched only by the coffee. We are regulars, great coffee, great service, good food. The meals aren't amazing but everything else is very good. Better for breakfast or a slice of cake (and coffee) than a meal IMO. Good deli selection, easy to drop in here (easy parking) pick up some great ingredients for the nights meal and have a coffee. Molly and David are some of the best people going round and we are glad they are doing well.
Billnu
Great breakfast. I have been going to Fig Tree Deli now since they opened about 4 years now. Not only do they have the best sandwiches around, especially the Rubins sandwich which they have as a special once in a while, but they also do a fantastic breakfast. The staff are always friendly, coffee great and quality of food very consistsnt. Very well recommended
Gastronome
Great local place for a coffee. I find the food is a a little on the expensive side but it is a great place to catch up with friends for a coffee.
Jason
Good place for a casual lunch and coffee in my local area. Great job guys:)
Sandra Rivers
Food ok service ok.
Elton
Decent place. A bit overpriced, but the food here is good. Nice casual atmosphere. Club Sandwich is excellent.

I found the coffee to be pretty average, but maybe it's just me, as everyone else I've been with thought the coffee was great. There's nothing special going on here service, coffee or food wise, but it's a reliable place for casual coffee and breakfast/lunch.
Kate James
Over-priced and over-hyped. Disappointed and don't understand the hype over this tiny strip of shops in Samuel Street and this 15yo Fig Tree Deli. Another over-priced Brisbane cafe with impersonal staff, no table service, terrible bitter coffee and bogan wannabee clie...ntele with misbehaving children... one of which through a timber 'wooden-spoon' table number directly at my head while I was reading the paper! No apology from the parent; I moved to another table away from projectiles. The only saving grace was the Eggs Benedict but the bread was too light and airy for the food. No competition, that's the main problem here.
