The new bbq menu at Southside is excellent!
I shared two briskets with sides of pinto beans and brocolli with a friend. Serving size of the brisket for the price was decent and had a lovely bbq flavour with good quality meat. I was also surprised by how much flavour the sides packed - especially the pinto beans. Accompanying sauces were great too!
The food wasn't overly greasy or heavy which I tend to associate with american style bbqs/burgers. It was fairly simple, but packed a lot of flavour.
Unfortunately most of the beers on tap were unavailable but the selection was good. Will have to head back another time.
Our tastebuds were craving something simple this morning, so we ordered fairly basic options from the Brunch menu. There were a few different things that caught our eye and we will definitely return to try them.
Today I had the omlette with chives and dirty ranch on sourdough and my partner had the Egg Sandwich with added bacon. My partner said it was the best brioche bun he has had. I read that their bread is sourced from Flour and Chocolate down the road. The bacon was thick cut which is not his thing but I loved it. Such a lovely smoky flavour. My omelette was very simple, egg served on a toasted and pressed slice of sourdough with chives and a generous serving of a mustardy ranch sauce, which was enjoyed. The Dramanti coffees were also good. Different menu, good prices, friendly service and tasty food. Can't believe it's taken me so long to try this local spot as a cafe (have been for drinks) and glad to say I will return.
Quirky atmosphere and decor, really relaxed feel - Brilliant food and coffee !! Very quick service, fresh produce
Happy to make this my local ❤️

Such a wonderful cafe full of delicious food, perfectly made coffee, and an amazing atmosphere. A great place to enjoy the morning and have some toasty yums
great food and coffee and atmosphere. highly recommended to everyone !!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)
Must try the breakfast burger. The hot sausage is more like a sausage patty, the dirty Mayo was delicious and the buns were so soft. The only negative was the bacon, it definitely needed to be cooked a bit longer. We also got the bagel with bacon, egg, cheese and hollandaise. Could've done with more hollandaise sauce and again, the bacon needed to be cooked longer.
The coffee was nicely brewed, smooth and served at the perfect temperature.
Loved the vintage feel and look.
Quite a small, old fashioned little café on the side of a busy road, this café provides a very starkly different, but slightly rundown, vibey atmosphere with friendly staff and a nice timber-based interior décor. Their menu options are quite simple, ranging from bagels to classic English-style breakfasts, but also have an Americanesque-style massive, diabetes-causing milkshakes and brownies (absolutely yum yum!)
After having a look at the menu here I was happy to find plenty of vegan options which sounded delicious...but I couldn't go past the loaded avocado toast. Firstly, the service was quick. Secondly, the serving size was very generous for the price. Lastly, YUM! I like the cafe's quirky look and casual feel. The staff are very friendly and laid back.
Breakfast today was very good. Bit of an early rush meant some service delays, which were offset by friendly staff and a simple apology for the wait. I had the loaded avo, which was great, served on a pumpkin sourdough with plenty of avo, cumin, beetroot and some excellent labneh. Very filling. Thought coffee was excellent. I rate this experience
I was tempted by the review of Mandy Bernadette so dropped to this café for exploration last Sunday morning. Agreed with Mandy, this cafe is full of retro-feeling and it definitely has its own market share. From the menu info provided on Zomato's Website, I intended to try the Bacon& Egg Pad Thai (sounds interesting). Unfortunately, they have changed the menu and I have to order the bagel and a flat white. It was my flaw that the barista continuously drew my attention that there would only be "thick cream" with the bagel, not until I have the bagel presented on the table then I really caught what he meant. They blend the sausage with cream and served it like a peanut butter with the bagel. The actual cream sauce was not bad and actually it had the right level of heat from chilli that was added on, however, it did not match my palate. Coffee with Dramanti Artisan Roaster was not bad either but slightly weak to my expectation. Maybe next time I would try something else.....
What a surprising place. We have walked by a number of times and thought it was not a bar/restaurant we would like.
We went with friends and had a wonderful time. Food was excellent and the service was fast. They have a large outdoor space at the back.
There is a arcade room with pinball and video machine.
Staff are friendly and happy.
Came here to get a Sunday brunch. We loved the food (both the breakfast burrito and the loaded avocado toast with falafel were super nice) and the atmosphere. Great coffee with almond milk too!

The gingerbread pancakes are absolutely amazing. Something I've never had anywhere else! My partner ordered the hangover helper and couldn't have been more impressed and from the bites I stole I understand why. The house hash is crazy good. Both meals were huge and well priced.
The decor was quirky and welcoming and the guy who served us was super lovely. Would definitely recommend.
Delicious breakfast. Great coffee. Excellent service and very cool interior. I'll be back.
Absolutely love this cafe! The service is consistently genuine, friendly and fantastic. Love the toasties and the coffees. My daughter can't get enough of the shakes too. My favourite though are those chicken wings from red robin. Oh yummy! Never change, Southside crew!
I think that a great service recovery is worth more than a faultless service. Stuff goes wrong sometimes, we aren't robots. They can't make a good latte, yet.
We like this place, I've been here before and now I live really close I'll be here a lot more in the future. I was pleasantly surprised with how they handled the small error and we will be back. Thanks!
The food, coffee and snacks are great.
This place is the complete package. The staff are accommodating and friendly. The cuisine and ambience, seemingly rooted in 90s state primary school couture, make for a fun experience. There are games and great books on offer to while away the time, and my coffee has always been top-notch. The Southside Burger is my suggestion; that patty - and Uncle John's dirty mayo - delicious. Plus they have excellent beer and kombucha.
They're baaaack!!
Brisket mac is the best burger I've had in ages. Good smoke, nice little tickle of spice in the rub, juicy and melt in the mouth.
Lamb is phenomenal.
Great beers regularly rotated.
Keep it up guys - love your work.
