Ordered a personal size (9 inch) BBQ chicken through UberEats and it was tasty! Pizza was delivered fresh and was delivered under the expected delivery time.

Since my first experience with soul pizza about 1 and a half years ago when they started making some Brazilian pizzas on Wednesday I avoided this place ad those pizzas in my opinion did not taste as any pizza you would find in Brazil but recently wanting a snack at late time and seeing them on Uber Eats made me gave it a second chance and I'm glad I did.

Before I had ordered the chocolate and banana pizza as my misses wanted a sweet snack and with their thin and crunchy crust and generous toppings it made this place be my option to go for when I arrive after work and cannot find anything else to it.

This is exactly what happened yesterday, arriving home at almost 23:30 and having nothing to eat I had a look on the app and for sure they were still open so I ordered a half vegetarian and half pumpkin pizza (which is not an option available on Uber Eats but I made an additional comment asking if it would be possible and they delivered it).

The crust was again crunchy and not too thick, probably had the thickness just the way I prefer to be honest. The toppings were again covering all the pizza in a generous way. The price is a bit expensive, 19 dollars for a 12" pizza but being aware of the high cost from uber eats (they take 30% of all the sales) it doesn't bother me.

The pumpkin was my favorite, the feta cheese gave it a nice balance with its saltiness against the sweetness coming from the pumpkin and was my favorite. The vegetarian pizza, it was a bit weird but it is my fault that didn't realize there was pineapple on it which I don't really like on pizzas, besides that all the vegetables were nicely cooked and still tasted fresh but this pizza didn't taste special, just an average vegetarian pizza. I would rate them 4 and 3.5 respectively.

Overall soul pizza is an enjoyable option for a pizza, but it's not the best available in Brisbane, it's better than your average but some pizzas feel like they are missing something.

TL;DR: Pretty stock standard pizza that finds itself a bit lacking to be with the true greats, but a bit out of reach for some of the local takeaways. It is in that weird middle-ground where it is overall not here nor there, and ends up being just fine.

It is a pizza place, it has been around for quite a while, it is in the Valley. That is about as much that can be said about Soul Pizza when the food has been experienced but actually visiting there did not happen. There must be some sort of solid fan-base here, or a steady stream of clientele as it still stands quietly being an apparent choice. The chosen location for is really apt knowing the general area about this place; and there is much better around overall, though worse can easily be done as well.

It doesn't take long for people to find out that I am something of a gourmand, and this had been made apparent at the workplace; let's just say in using UberEats several times over the past few months it was pretty hard to keep it a secret - not that I would do that. My boss is fully aware about that, and even asks about it quite a bit. That is the first part. The second part is an idea that has been brewing for quite some time, to get some pizzas delivered which with circumstances eventually led to trying it out of the blue one day. The day beforehand, the errand I had was to map out the possible pizza places which deliver and using the template of getting it with the lot.

On the day, I made sure there was plenty of time beforehand to get it fresh and hot to the door, while there would still be enough time to savour and enjoy the food without having to wolf it down for the sake of getting back to work at the scheduled time. Plugging the orders in half an hour before going into the lunch break, it was a case of waiting and watching that icon on the app's map. In addition to that, the location will remain undisclosed where the lunch meet ups are though it will be said the boss suggested putting in that actual place as the delivery location; let's just say success, and I will continue using it in the foreseeable future.

To talk about the service this time around, this requires a Tarantino-ing of sorts to the general structure. In addition to the pizza that was ordered, I also put in a couple of extras on the side. These were intended to be a garlic calzone and a side of fries; in my words, this is my money I am using and I am a generous sort of guy - I make sure that my people are fed well, at home or the workplace. That is necessary because it leads to this - the delivery was still quick, and I was surprised they actually pulled up as close as they did to where it was. That is one thing I will give to UberEats with the service, being precise and making the distance minimal.

However, where the success in a streak has been going on since first opening up the app, it has to come to an end for this one. When I opened up the box, there was the pizza there but in the container instead of either of the aforementioned side items there were chicken wings instead. Overall, this is not a full-on complaint since I like chicken wings, but a mistake is a mistake especially when it is mixing up people's orders or giving them the wrong item.

On a technical note, it has happened before but that had been with a preceding phone call negotiating and offering a replacement for something if it was not available. That is where customer service can shine, and is necessary to mention to compare how small gestures make noticeable differences. None of the ilk happened to my knowledge this time. Whether the item was good or bad, that still indicates a poor attention to detail and is not reflective of good work ethic.

UberEats was good enough to do a refund upon hearing about it after I sent that complaint through. That is a bit of a saving grace, but I will still say a mistake is still a mistake and better is expected.

The menu reads more or less like a standard sort of pizza place. If memory serves me right, back in the Urbanspoon days this outlet was categorised under "American" as cuisine. It has a solid menu that reads much like a usual Australian pizza place, and the sections are according to the kinds of meat along with one for the traditional varieties. Breads and pastas are also there, so it is convincing as an Italian place, as well as a few salads, some meaty sides and a few desserts to round it all off - in which the pizza extends into here. When it comes to drinks, just a range of all the usual sodas is what they have.

So the pizza chosen was the variation of the lot they had called the "Soul Supreme". On top of pizza sauce an mozzarella cheese, the toppings were pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, capsicum, onions, and olives with seasonings of garlic, mixed herbs, fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese. And overall it was ... fine. Just fine. The amount of topping on the pizza was generous and practically covered the entire base, and was pipping hot. Also, the base was solid and well cooked, giving it the right crunch. If you like it thin crust and traditional, it is pretty close though still is solid enough for the thick fans. However, there was something missing from it all. There was something about the taste that was a bit bland, needing a bit of sprucing up - my boss and I are on opposite ends with anchovies (I am for them, and reckon they would have immensely improved the pizza) and it could also have done something spicy. Still, everything went.

If it weren't inferred yet, the chicken wings were not all that bad. In fact, I kind of liked them. They were not the best, but went down a treat nonetheless. They were broiled instead of fried, and the meat was both tender and well-marinated. Whatever sauce they used was pretty good, and was pretty darn spicy. It left my lips tingling a bit, and the number that was served was pretty generous.

Putting it out of the way first, the atrocious attention to detail that came with finally delivering the order is not something that will be in favour of this place whether it is them or Uber or a combination of the two that is ultimately accountable for the mistake. That is something that definitely has to be corrected for the future, as it did not make for a good first impression. I have had worse delivery services, but even so ... getting beyond that, the food here was simply fine. Not that there was anything that was outright wrong with the food but there was certainly something missing from it taste-wise. Soul Pizza ends up being reliable for something that is decent quality, but that journey to get the right pizza for the work place continues forward.
