Explored Kelvin Grove campus of QUT this morning. When I browsed around the weekend market there, all of the sudden I found this place so gave it a go. While I was walking in to place my order, I saw the waitress writing today’s special. One of the specials today is the Blueberries pancake and they were just sitting at the counter bench. I could not refuse such temptation so ordered the pancakes as the flat white. When the stack of pancakes came to the table, I then discovered that I ordered a sweet dish for my brekkie this morning. Well, I have to pay for my mistake; even though the pancakes were good and came with a nice generous portion, I did not enjoy it too much due to personal choice. Having said that, the coffee was good to compensate my fault.
I'll start by saying this place does great coffee. I came for breakfast mid-week and it was super busy with lots of patrons grabbing their morning coffee. We ordered Turkish toast with avocado and feta and two coffees. The coffee took AGES to arrive. I suppose as it's primarily a takeaway coffee shop the focus is on takeaway coffee customers which I totally understand but I was surprised that it took a good 20mins for our coffees to be made.
Half the staff were lovely, half it wouldn't kill them to crack a smile.
The breakfast menu is surprisingly expensive, especially in a student focused area. It was nice and tasted really fresh but I think I'd only return for coffee.
Dropped in on a half hour break and ordered the avocado and feta smash on sourdough and a flat white, both of which were delicious. Service was fast (we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering). Cute cafe with awesome interiors and food.
