***FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE***
✅ Not really my favourite cuisine but surprisingly the food tastes good. The names of the dishes are too hard to remember so apologies.
🧐 Serving time is not that quick. Good thing we ordered an entree coz it was served first.
🧐 Ordered two dishes in the menu but inot available.
✅ Price is reasonable with respect to taste and serving.
✅ Ambiance is fine.
✅ Staff are approachable.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal at Thai Orchid. I celebrated a banquet meal, with a couple of highballs. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable and the service was quick and prompt. Ideal for those who want a wonderful date night out. There was also plenty of room for bigger groups. Thanks Joey!

Loved the heartwarming note I got when I ordered takeaway from this restaurant. The lamb shank curry was utterly delicious. I will definitely visit soon.

Newly renovated and really friendly staff, it was a great experience overall. The food was great, really authentic and perfectly seasoned . Had the pawpaw salad which had an amazing dressing and the Penang chicken . A wide variety of food to have by yourself or share with others. It was definitely a great dinner.

Food and Service was amazing. The meals were fresh and left you a clean palate. The staff were attentive and eager to serve. Wonderful night out

Awesome food- very fresh and authentic... banquet meal was great value and for 3 people we ate for around $100.. and we were certainly not stopping for ice cream on the way home. Service was great- very friendly and attentive. Genuine customer focus and accommodated our needs including those of my elderly father who needed help with the menu. Satay sticks -highly recommend you order a plate of these as they were amazing.

Had the Fork 50% off food bill promo dinner before the lockdown. Honestly, I have not been back here for a very long time and witnessed its change of management.<br/>Perused the menu and noticed that there are something new so decided to go for a Tom Yum seafood, pork skewer, lamb cutlets coconut prawns and coconut rice.<br/>Service and food standard was unexpectedly good; particularly the skewer and the lamb cutlet. <br/>After I paid the bill at the counter, then I met the head chef (Hurbert), who was the previous owner, just came out from the kitchen to greet his regulars. I was told by Hurbert that he took over this restaurant again because the last management did not do well. No wonder the standard is so good 👍<br/>Rating: 4.5/5

This place is the only thing keeping me sane during isolation. Best Thai food I’ve ever had!

Took my husband here for his birthday party. Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic food, really well organized considering we had a large group of people. Would highly recommend

After a number of years not going here, we ordered takeaway and were not disappointed. After all this time their pad thai and beef massaman is still incredible. The decor and atmosphere is very stylish. Lovely place and people!

Was a good dining experience, food and drink come out fast. Waitress was friendly and professional. Had the Tom Yum prawn (was disappointed only 2 prawns though) green curry and coconut rice were great.

Great flavours all round. Minimal wait for food, unless they are really busy of course. Prices aren't cheap, but the quality is amazing. The banquets just seem to be endless and we never finish all the food.
Amanda Reginato
I disliked this restaurant so much, the food was the worst Thai food I've ever tasted. All the dishes were over sauced, and tasted like they were made from a jar. The dishes were indistinguishable from one another, were too sweet, lacked flavour. They were certainly not authentic or fresh tasting.
Kan Do
Pretty average run of the mill Thai, the type I don't enjoy. I really only enjoy Thai when the flavours are bursting with freshness and I get that strong hot tangy sourness from the dishes.
Natasha Olsson-Seeto
Unlike other reviews here our food was lovely, the Toon Tong, or money bags, were crisp with a lovely dressing. The signature dish of Spicy Fried Rice with prawns was indeed spicy with perfectly cooked, large, translucent prawns. The Green Chicken Curry was balanced with tender chicken and crisp beans and bamboo shoots. Where the restaurant lets it's self down is the service. The staff lack engagement, have no knowledge of the (unimpressive) wine list, did not food check or check for additional drink orders. Go for the food, not the service or experience. A restaurant that could be excellent with a few adjustments.

Very disappointing - waiting almost 2 hours for our main meal to arrive and when it did, it was also terrible. <br/>Suggest another Thai restaurant of you would like good service and authentic food...<br/>
Ian Ballard
Don't, just don't. Unless you have several hours to wait for a sub-standard meal. Poor service, over priced and a ridiculously long wait when there was on half a dozen other people in the restaurant.

I only bought one dish from The Thai Orchid and it was delicious. I picked up just before the busy period so it was ready super quick. The food was really good and pretty well priced. I would totally recommend this place to anyone.

I visited Thai Orchid tonight for the first time with work, colleagues, I will never go again. I ordered Pad Thai with Tofu and topped with King Prawns. I got chicken and two, prawns, served with vermicelli noodles. The dish was supposed to,have tamarind sauce...must have been waved over the top. The manager was so,sour faced and rude, I have no idea why she works in the restaurant business. Very disappointing indeed.

Worst service ever!!Went here last night with some friends and waited about 10 mins after we sat down but noone came to take drink orders. Flagged down a waiter for a drink and then flagged down a waitress to take our order. She takes one of our orders and starts to grab the menus and walk away. I actually burst out laughing as I was sure she couldn't be serious thinking that 4 of us were ordering one curry and rice. After all of us order 3 meals come out. I wait about 10 to 15 mins before I ask where mine is and they brought it out. No one has sighted our table to ask if we want another drink or top up our water. After we finish dinner our dishes sit on the table for about 20 to 30 mins before we once again flag down staff to please clear our table and bring us a dessert menu. We order and wait about 30 mins initially for dessert, they advise they are cooking the custard. It was an hour before we got dessert. We could not wait to get out of there and as we went to pay the manager Michael asks "how was our evening". I reply " Food was good but your service has been nothing short of deplorable". He replies " I thought so" and says he had staff call in sick and how busy they were with take away orders, then says that will be $125 thanks...end of story. We were dumbfounded. Good luck to anyone going there on a Fri or Sat night. what a joke!! I hope Tina still doesn't own this palce as I am sure this is not how she would run a restaurant.

Love this place!!!!!. My wife took me to the Mt.Gravatt Thai Orchrd for my birthday recently and i have to say that it was amazing!<br/>I have been there several times now and the food is always first class<br/>I know they can get a litle busy but they always do their best.<br/>I can't wait to go back.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LONG WAIT TIMES. AFTER a long day transiting through airports, we wanted a meal which would fill us up.<br/><br/>We decided to try the Thai Orchid; the food was delicious. HOWEVER: We were one of the last tables to arrive (7.15pm), having seen everyone else served and leaving, we thought it would be a quick meal..<br/><br/>We ordered the banquet, after waiting 15 mins to order. Then after that didn't get our entrees for 30 mins.<br/>After finishing the entrees, we got an apology from the staff member serving, saying there was an extra 1 hour delay with the mains... After finishing the mains, the waitresses forgot that as part of the banquet ice-cream was to be served. We ordered them, and been the 2nd last table in the restaurant at this stage around 10pm, they still hadn't arrived - appeared that it wasn't ordered.<br/><br/>Eventually they came, and when we left to pay the manager was occupied talking to another member of staff for 2 minutes.<br/><br/>Not only that, we complained to the manager and then released that she had over charged us $26++ for the ice-cream as she didn't include them as part of the banquet. <br/><br/>The manager was very rude, when we commented on the wait time and 2 chipped plates the food was on - making up excuses that the shipments had not arrived from Thailand, and that she herself was upset with the owner.<br/><br/>Reconsider visiting, unless you want to pay a lot for the food (nice food), but wait 3 hours.

DO NOT GO. My husband and i took our daughter out for dinner last night. We arrived at 7.45pm. We had high hopes as i had dined at Springwood before and was very impressed. We were greeted by a young man who confronted us about our booking stating that our name was not on the books. We were seated, our order was taken then the wait began. <br/>After an hour of looking around and listening to other guests complain about waiting 2 hrs for their meal. We thought it might be a one off. We asked the timid waitress what had happened to the 4 prawns we ordered. We winced at us and ran off. At <br/>9 pm we tried to ask another waitress only for her to ignore us and run away. They were all stressed and bringing food in and out to wrong tables. <br/>At 9.15pm we decided to leave as no one would speak to us except for the neighbouring table that were also complaining. Starving, disappointed and angry we got up and left. DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME
Poeticjustice16
Worst valentines night ever. We arrived at 630 pm we waited 45 mins for appastiser and drinks which were very nice ! But then by 845 we had to leave for a movie booking not one member of staff could tell us what happens to our meal ! But people who arrived after us had already revived there mains highly disappoint
Vicki Qualischefski
Rude and poor customer service. Went here for dinner with my parents tonight and was very disappointed. We have enjoyed the authentic meals at this restaurant for over ten years, however our dishes took forever to arrive. We waited for over 45 minutes and the first thing that was served was our main- a green curry. It took another 20 minutes for our other dishes to arrive and by that time we were ready to leave. Trying to be patient and understanding we asked the waitress and all she said was 'it's coming'. The customers who arrived after us were getting their meals, but without any explanation or apology she walked away ignoring us. Finally our meals arrived and we were happy and full. When we went to pay, the lady declined our credit card (VISA) saying that we weren't able to use it as it's from overseas and that they need pin verification not signature. They might need to do some homework and read up on pinwise.com.au:<br/>'Visitors from overseas will not be impacted by the changes, so they will use signature or PIN to authorize transactions as they did before. Hence signature will still be a valid form of payment authorisation for most visitors from overseas'

Too long a wait. After waiting a half hour for entree from the banquet. frthen to wait another hour for meals then when it came finally to only have a small amount to share between the group. I left spending $30 and still starving.

Extremely annoying experience. I took my friend from Sydney for dinning...thinking that usually Thai orchid restaurants are good in Brisbane and Logan. I have tried the food few years ago which was good. But this time I had the worse experience. The staff at the reception neither made an eye contact with us nor greeted us. Offered a table which was near toilets. I refused to sit there and asked for another table but the staff could not offer a table for two when there were a few tables available although were for 4 people. But what I did not like was the way they treated us and were not happy to offer a table. I know one thing that if a customer comes to you then good staff members would not let them go. I had gone to the restaurant with some expectations but had to return home with my friend from interstate with disappointment.

We went there today for dinner , the receptionist is very rude , the restaurant was busy, but some tables where still empty . First we where offered to sit near the toilet next the tables was empty but as we where 2 it was not given to us. I would say the front desk person who guides to tables just is very Rude and has no way to deal with customers . Dnt recommend it because of customer service

The food was ok, nothing outstanding. We had 2 little children with us so for dessert had asked for 2 single scoop ice creams for them. Instead we were given 2 big serves of 3 ice cream bowls which are a part of their Triple Icecream from dessert menu. The worse thing was when we politely asked the manager to see if they can just serve a simple single serve of ice cream for the kids, she raised a storm out of a teacup! Her response ranged from "we are doing you a favour by giving you 3 serves of the same Icecream" to " we don't get kids who like much Thai so we don't have kids menu"!! All we wanted was NOT to waste a huge serve of dessert and they lacked the professionalism, the politeness and a readiness to accommodate a simple variation from their set menu which didn't seem like rocket science to us. That spoilt the whole evening for us.

The Thai Orchid - Upper Mount Gravatt, Brisbane. My cousin was coming up from Melbourne to stay in town for a day, and knew that I was a bit of a restauranteur. Thus he was asking if I knew of any good places; to make it simple I asked for any particular preferences namely with cuisine - he mentioned that he quite likes Thai. After extensive discussion and searching for a Thai restaurant that was both close by and relatively cheap (and new of course), the Thai Orchid was found. <br/>Monday nights are a hectic time of the week, and after a bit of negotiation and discussion in several degrees my dining buddy along with my mum went with me to pick up my cousin for dinner. He was staying close by, so this was a good choice in the end. <br/><br/>The location is a bit awkward, the entrance is on a main road and outside is seemingly quiet thus bypassers do not often get the encouragement to come inside. There is a car park out on the front kerb, so the placing is not so much inconvenient - again as mentioned, just awkward. Inside the restaurant is well decorated with all sorts of artworks and decorations. It is really spacious, with several dining rooms. One table that the four of us got to sit at was off to the side a bit. Service here was good and friendly enough; they told what each item was upon bringing them to the table. It was a Monday night, and they had a couple more big tables to serve including a birthday party; balancing tasks is a difficult skill and they were managing well. <br/><br/>One of the pluses to the service was that when the four of us were seated, drink requests were taken; I quickly perused the non-alcoholic beverage menu ending up requesting a Thai iced coffee. This was strong, had the warmth of heated up coffee and was refreshing. I also tried out some Jasmine tea, which my dining buddy ordered, straight black and had a mild flavour to it. <br/><br/>Upon the main meals, everyone was really hungry thus with a suggestion from my mum it was quickly agreed to go the banquet route. Looking at the "Thai Orchid Banquet", it seemed the best value and that was chosen. No one left hungry, and servings were generous and various. <br/><br/>At first there was the mixed entree, a selection of goodies from the entree menu which allows you to try the majority of the entrees. When it comes to banquets they usually offer one or two entrees as starters; here there was five different appetisers, not all of them came out at once. <br/><br/>The first plate had curry puffs & chicken satays; both of these were good and what I would respect from the respective snacks. On the side, the peanut sauce for the satay was especially delicious. Often with Thai banquets, I would nick the vegetable garnishings off the plate as well; this time the effort made with a cucumber to - at least in my mind - make it look like a bit of sushi (at least to my mind) was too good to sully. <br/><br/>The next plate contained the seafood appetisers, a handful of fried calamari and four coconut prawns. The prawns were good, however the calamari was a bit stodgy after a while. Last but not least, the steamed dim sims. On their own, these would have been very good as the pork filling was juicy and tasty; after several types of fried appetisers the steamed nature clashed a bit. After all that, it was hard to believe that more food was to come. <br/><br/>There were three main dishes: a beef red curry, a peanut stir-fry with chicken and a mixed seafood pad ped. The beef curry was really popular, that is was almost too small to really justify putting in the doggy bag; it was the usual reliable red curry - . <br/>Coconut rice, then regular rice. The peanut chicken consisted of a thick, viscous sauce, and finally the pad ped was spicy, and had a generous selection of various types of seafood including king prawns and scallops. <br/><br/>I was starting to feel nearly full, but knew that there was enough room in my stomach to include dessert. The choices were either between a mixed fruit salad or deep fried ice cream. I went with the latter choosing caramel sauce. It was a nice and smooth finish to a big meal; the ice cream was coated with coconut. On the side was a bit of strawberry and some whipped cream. <br/><br/>It is not the best Thai that I have ever had, or even the best Thai on this side of the city. The food was generously portioned and filling. With the banquet menu, I would suggest it not be as appetiser-heavy as it was to be able to give the chance to try other mains and/or another course of Thai dining. The dining was good enough for me to leave a generous tip (note the note in amongst the coins). For the time, it hit the spot.

Worst dining experience ever. My husband, our daughters and I went here last Friday night. To start with we had to wait around 10 minutes because they couldn't find our reservation. <br/>Finally we were seated and the waitress literally threw the menus on the table and walked off. 20 minutes later the waitress was nowhere to be seen so we had to flag her down to place an order. Now for the worst bit. My meal arrived, 10 minutes later our daughters meal arrived. We waited about 15 minutes (we had finished our meals by now) but no sign of my husband's meal. Eventually a waiter came over and said. 'We're out of duck, what else would you like?' Given we had finished our meals and we'd waited so long my husband said 'nothing' (our meals tasted awful anyway) Upon paying as we were leaving I told the manager how disappointed we were with the service and her reply was 'you should have ordered the banquet- plenty of that. That's $67 thanks '. An absolutely horrendous experience in every single way possible. Avoid this place like the plague!!!!

Worst Thai Food! Went for .... Worst Thai Food! <br/>Went for dinner with 8 friends. Embarrassed myself for taking them there. Staff are unhelpful and plain rude. Food is not good. Doesn't even taste like Thai. Ordered red curry was very disappointed, very blend & no flavor. Never going back there again!

Dreadful service tonight. .... Dreadful service tonight.<br/><br/>We have eaten here before and like the food. Tonight we were the first people in at 5.30 and it took two hours for our standard meal without wine. Two hours for a meal for two adults and two children is unacceptable in a non busy restaurant.<br/><br/>There was a twenty minute lag between our first entree and the entree for the rest of the table. <br/><br/>30 mins between the first and the last main to arrive. Not exactly complex meals of a curry, two stir fry and a salad. The salad being last to arrive.<br/><br/>One of the desserts sticky rice, never came.<br/><br/>Thai Orchid need to improve their service or I won't be back.

Worse service and overpriced food! My parents and I came to try the food here and had such a bad experience! They didn't serve us a menu as we sat down and my dad had to ask. After the flagged a waiter to take our order did someone come with the menus! Food small portion and service is EXTREMELY SLOW. The waiter served our dish to the wrong table and we ended up cancelling our order for the papaya salad. In total it was $42 for a small portion of curry and stir fry dish. IT'S NOT WORTH COMING HERE.

This place used to be great but now the service is terrible, especially with the new male waiters - avoid!

Sensational. I have tried many Thai restaurants, Thai being my favourite, Thai Orchid is absolutely my favourite. My favourite dish here is Vegetable Massaman Curry, the flavours are amazing. The service is excellent, Linda and Michael are my favourite staff, so helpful and friendly, beautiful people.

Basing on Past Experience. I dined at this restaurant a while ago and recalled this place as a very nice place with great food. The service was awesome and the food was amazing. I rate this place 7/10
Iele
Terrible service. Appalling service. Unfortunately, can't speak for the food apart from the appetiser because despite waiting for over 45 minutes, our mains never came. The two tables next to us that had sat down and ordered after us were already eating. We told the waiter we were very unhappy with the service and would leave in 10 minutes. He walked away, wasn't even slightly concerned, and later simply watched us walk out the door. The manager stared at us blankly and told us that she had checked with the kitchen but that they had been busy that night. She said 'sorry about that' but hardly looked apologetic. The customer service was atrocious, from the apathetic looks on their faces to the lack of a legitimate explanation. "Oh, which table were you sitting at again?" <br/><br/>Don't expect better service for the high prices because you won't get it. You'll be paying unreasonable money for very ordinary Thai food and poor customer service, if you can even call it that. As for the inconsistent reviews, I can only say that the inconsistency alone should discourage you from ever stepping foot in this restaurant.

Best Thai in Town. Have been coming here for years for our girls night out and everything we have tried on the menu is excellent. Especially the coconut prawns. Service and ambience are great and we wouldn't go anywhere else.

I was impressed by this restaurant. Great value, I have eaten Thai inane places & this one is definitely recommended!!!

Good restaurant. I am extremely shocked about some of the reviews about this restaurant. We are a regular diner and we have had no problem with Linda nor anyone of the staff. This is one of our favourite restaurants around and I wouldn't even hesistate in recommending this to any of our friends and family. <br/><br/>As one of the reviewer said we all have had one or two bad experiences in any places we go to but to read some of the complaints/comments here about this restaurant are just shocking to me. <br/><br/>To Linda and Michael, you guys still do the best curry puffs and homemade lemon ice tea! Cheers.

Dined in for a friends birthday. Food delicious and attentive service. Happy to recommend friends.

Fabulous Restaurant and Service. The Thai Orchid is one of the best restaurants on the southside of Brisbane. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared; authentic Thai, and the service is sensational. I have always fround the Manager to be extremely friendly and very welcoming. Love it!
Happy Customer
Hospitality. I am quite shocked to read the reviews about the Thai Orchid restaurant, staff and manager. I agree with Mark. I have been regularly dining at the Thai Orchid for over ten years. I have dined with family, friends, international guests and business professionals - all have enjoyed the experience, the food and the service. It has become a favourite restaurant of my international friends. They have tried other thai restaurants in Brisbane and the Gold Coast during their stay and although prices are little more expensive at the Thai Orchid they believe that the quality of the food is worth it. <br/><br/>As for the customers complaining about the Manager I have had many discussions with the Manager and she has always been helpful. Yes sometimes people are exhausted working on their feet in the hospitality industry 10 - 12 hours a day. I think customers forget that the staff don't just start work as the doors open, there is cleaning, preparation, etc etc. With the economic downturn it is difficult to know how many customers will arrive without bookings so sometimes there are not sufficient staff when there are many walk-in customers, but the staff do the best they can for their customers. Yes they do a large trade in takeaways which is also hard to plan and the floor staff are required to manage the takeaway orders as well as seated customers. <br/><br/>Perhaps your complaints should be directed at the owner to implent some changes to assist the staff. At the Thai Orchid the owner controls the number of staff permitted to work that day, the owner sets the price and the rules and the Manager has no control over these decisions and is not permitted to change such rules. The Manager role is name only.<br/><br/>To the customers stating they have eaten in many thai restaurants and that this manager was screaming at them in thai. Firstly, let me say that I have never heard the manager raise her voice at anyone, even dining there sometimes twice a week doing my human rights advocacy work. Secondly I dont know which Thai restaurants you visited but if you knew anything about thailand you would know that the Manager does not speak Thai as she is not from Thailand. There are Thai staff in the kitchen but the staff on the floor are from other cultural backgrounds.<br/><br/>On the other hand, I have observed a number of rude customers whilst I have been dining and I have considered the Manager to be quite restrained and polite when dealing with their requests that she has no control to authorise. I have often wanted to confront the customer and suggest they learn to use their manners and stop being so rude to a staff member who doesnt own the business, doesnt make the prices, and can't see into the future to know how many people will be dining tonight. These customers need to learn some manners, some patience, and some dining etiquette. Sometimes they try bullying tactics to try to get discounts or free meals. Its quite absurd and if you were speaking that way to an Australian born Manager they would have escorted you out the door.<br/><br/>I have come to learn a bit about the Manager, her background, her extremely difficult life. I wouldnt switch places with her for a million dollars. She has worked hard to learn hospitality skills and tried to improve her English without the advantage of any formal schooling, she has learned the new menu technology introduced, she has trained the ongoing casual rotating staff (they often have international students who come and go regularly). She has a work ethic that many Australian born workers would fail to achieve. <br/><br/>I would say that the people making the negative comments you need to learn a bit of cross cultural awareness. What you perceive as someone's behaviour can be easily misinterpreted. I have never heard the Manager raise her voice let alone 'scream across the restaurant'. I find this highly exaggerated and all I can say having come to know the staff at the Thai Orchid is that you must have been a really rude customer for that Manager to have lost her composure. I also know that if she had lost her composure it would have distressed her greatly as its not in her demeanour to behave in such a manner.<br/><br/>I also often dine there alone to de-stress from my working day. Whilst dining i observe the staff and customers and have seen many happy customers enjoying their meal, thanking the manager and staff. Those customers have a great attitude to dining, cultural awareness, patience when the restaurant gets busy with customers and takeaway orders. The dining experience is what you make it. If you are there to enjoy the experience you will enjoy it. <br/><br/>Fortunately I have only witnessed a few rude or difficult customers. If you have the personality to pick and complain at anything then you will not enjoy the experience and it wouldnt make any difference who served you or what the price was or the food. Different types of customers. <br/><br/>All I can say is please if you feel that strongly then dine somewhere else as dining with customers with such attitude would make my dining experience less enjoyable. <br/><br/>What's that saying there are people that never fly as they stress and focus on the planes that have crashed. There are people who enjoy the flying experience, the freedom of travel and focus on the thousands of planes that land safely every day. Your life experience depends on your attitude towards life and people. What you give out is what you get back.<br/><br/>There are a number of negative reviews. If only we could ask every customer that has dined at the Thai Orchid what there experience has been over the ten years. I think you would find its like the planes.<br/><br/>I highly recommend dining at the Thai Orchid with your friends, family and coworkers. <br/>Few tips to remember:<br/><br/>Surcharges: if you dine on a public holiday (as with any restaurant in Brisbane) there is a surcharge - goes without saying really. <br/><br/>Closures: Sometimes events occur that mean that a restaurant may need to change a closing time. This is a business decision and more than likely not known at the time of the booking. <br/><br/>Menu/Prices: The menu is set, the prices are set. If you have special dining preferences then its always wise to go online and check the menu. if any questions call the restaurant to ask if they can accomodate your request and if the price will be reduced. I guarantee they will try to accomodate your request but the price will remain the same as the owner sets the price not the staff. <br/><br/>Be prepared: I have never made a restaurant reservation without first checking out the menu and prices before making a decision to dine there. Even if I'm looking to walk-in to eat I check the menu at the front counter to see if it appeals to my appetite and budget or dietary requirements. <br/><br/>The outcome of your dining experience is largely up to your behaviours.

L very like to eat thai food in thai orchid restaurant:)

Balanced Feedback. I was taken back at reading some of the recent reviews on this restaurant. The restaurant has been going for about 25 years, the manager has been there for about 15 years and we have been regulars for about 10 years. <br/>Like everyone I have the occasional bad eating, shopping or travel experience where things did not go according to plan. Yet personally at the Thai Orchard we have never found anything less than excellent food and service. Certainly there have been occasions when the staff are run off their feet and like others we understand this and take it into account when assessing the experience.<br/>It is impossible to get through life without a bad experience or two and I respect that unfortunately this seems to have happened for a small number of patrons recently. In my view, considering the long term success of the business I think the solid reputation of the restaurant speaks for itself.

NICE THAI.. Good service, good food, and nice ambient atmosphere.<br/><br/>Simple.<br/><br/>Would go again.

Very dissapointing. We have been regular customers with this place as our kids love the food here, despite the cold reception you get and whilst we agree wholeheartedly on most of the bad reviews. We go at least once a month and is quite known to the staff there, most of the staff are good at least polite , however the manager lady is very rude and should not be working in customer service if she has that kind of attitude, we went on 31st night for dinner and was told very rudely in a loud voice for all to hear as soon as we got their that they close early and we have to get out by 10 pm, i called twice before comming to confirm times and was not told anyting to the contrary and they knew the time we were arriving , she had a very sour long face and informed us she wanted to go home early , lady 1st of all learn to talk to customers as we will never go back to this place again and will never recomend it to anyone , Hope this is read by the owner as if you keep this person ( going by most reviews ) in charge you will not have customer comming back to your restaurent , you have just lost one regular customer with us .

WORST SERVICE EVER - THE MANAGER IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNACCOMMODATING. Worst Thai restaurant by far in Brisbane.<br/><br/>So before we went to the restaurant our friends who we went with warned us that the restaurant lacked in the service but the food is good. I didn't think much of it as "How bad can the service really be?" <br/><br/>We looked at the menu before we came and they had our fave GREEN PAPAYA SALAD<br/><br/>72. PAPAYA SALAD...................................................................................... $19.50 ...........$16.50<br/>Green paw paw with dried prawns and peanut topped with deep-fried prawns<br/><br/>So we get there and it's $25.20 as prawns have been replaced with crab.<br/><br/>I'm vegetarian so I don't eat seafood.<br/><br/>An older thai lady in her 50's came to take our order and I politely asked if I could have the Green Papaya salad but with no crab as I don't eat seafood (but not fussy enough with the SMALL amount of fish sauce they add to the dressing)<br/>She said yes can be done with no crab BUT IT WILL STILL BE $25.20 plus the holiday surcharge. <br/>We said we have never heard of a $25.20 green papaya salad (som tum) ..yes in Thailand we ate one everyday for 30 baht ($1) but obviously being Australia it's going to be more. Every restaurant we have been to we always order one and if they don't have it they can always make one up with either carrot or cabbage as a substitute for the green papaya . <br/>Anyway at all other restaurants its always between $13 (straight green papaya salad or green mango salad) to $17 (With PRAWNS or some other type of seafood on top)<br/><br/>So my fiance asked if she could ask the manager maybe if they could do something for us ...she said "Im the manager - you can order a vege stirfy"<br/><br/>So rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/><br/>So anyway, we still ordered it expecting an extremely large serve with some amazing deep fried crab on top that someone else at the table can eat.<br/><br/>It arrived...regular size LIKE you can get at any other restaurant for TWICE the price.<br/><br/>Tasted absolutely disgusting I couldn't eat it, It had way too much fish sauce (generally I can't taste it and we are regulars at Thai restaurants and regularly go to Thailand for a holiday and eat pretty much nothing but green papaya and green mango salad. <br/>Also, the crabs weren't all through the salad so it COULD have been done without. There were just a few deep fried soft shell crab pieces on top,<br/><br/><br/><br/>Service 1/10 <br/>Food 2/10 (The tom yum soup was ok)<br/><br/>I think you have serious problems if your URBANSPOON rating is below 70%!!<br/><br/>The way she could have made is happy was to drop the price of the GREEN PAPAYA salad to say $16.95 as what she sells it for on her ONLINE menu!!!<br/><br/>Update your menu online and start being nice to your customers...as it's they who are keeping you in business.<br/><br/>WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK AND WILL TELL EVERYONE ELSE TO NEVER EVER GO THERE <br/><br/>And in march our friends who live in Mt Gravatt wanted to have a birthday party there for 20 people ...we will be sure to suggest an alternative!!!!!!

The manager- Worst customer service experience ever. Following is the list of behavior patters she displayed-<br/><br/>a. When I enquired if curry puffs can also be made vegetarian- she made a face at me, snarled and said if I have not read the menu well as yet then she will leave and come back later.<br/>b. I asked if I could get a drink and she just walked away and said she cant take any drinks order now since she is too busy.<br/>c. When I went to pay the bill( Which was a hefty amount) and suggested that I wanted to make a note in the suggestion book, the server (a male) simply asked me what I wanted to suggest and I said I wanted to mention that the lady serving us was rude, at this point the said lady actually heard me and screamed across the restaurant at me to remind me that she accommodated us in even without a booking and that I should be thankful to her. <br/>d. I went back to the gentleman on the front desk and related this incident, which is when she followed me and started shouting something in Thai at the gentleman (Obviously something about not paying any attention to me) and unbelievably stood there laughing and snarling while I was complaining about her.

SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WHEN YOUR RATING IS THIS LOW!!! Answer: THE MANAGER!!!. 1* Star/5<br/><br/>So lets start with the good points (1) paying & getting the F*#K out of there! <br/><br/>And the issues... Well let's just say there is a re-occurring theme here "Bad service + Average food + overpriced"<br/><br/>I too experienced the wrath of the rude manager and let me just say that if hadn't been for close friends insisting on going to this restaurant I wouldn't have stepped foot in the place. <br/><br/>I was told I couldn't have a vegetarian option on a dish without paying full price. Never heard of a $25 Som Tum in my life! $9 extra for 4 pieces of not very nice tasting soft-shell crab!<br/><br/>Ah well most Thai's are Buddhist so they'll be somewhat familiar karma???<br/><br/>1*Star / 5

Agree with the previous review++++. Dined here with a party of 8 and the service was lack lustre however as it was a pre Christmas get together we were happy to over look this.<br/>On arrival back home I discovered I had left a bag on the table with a piece of clothing lent to a friend..... Phoned straight away and was told that it had been trown in the bin and that I was welcome to come search it!!!!!! They remembered the bag but there was no way that they would search the bin themselves. I was argued with for 10 minutes before they simply hung up.<br/>Sure, it was my mistake however a designer top in a bag, thrown in a bin?????<br/>Never, ever going back. <br/>As a business owner myself, all I can say is....this place has a lot to learn.

Hugely disappointed!. Our party of four visited this restaurant recently and decided there is absolutely nothing to recommend it! First, the service was extremely poor. After being seated and given menus, it took half an hour before the waitress came back - but that wasn't to get our order, that was to clean the table next to us. When we asked if we could place our order, she said yes, and continued to clean the next table. Expecting her to come to our table with a pad and pencil, we waited... until she yelled at us "I'm listening!!!". It's very hard to indicate what you want to eat to someone who doesn't even grace you with her presence or show any interest in you as diners. Despite the restaurant being only one third full, the meals took an hour to arrive and were simply plonked on one corner of the table and left for us to work out what they were and whose order they were. After the main course, the dirty plates were not removed for another 45 minutes, at which point we asked for the dessert menu. This took half an hour to appear and then, after waiting another half an hour to place our order and no sign of the waitress, we simply gave up and left. As we had not received any bill, we went to the front counter where the young man handling the money told us he "was not having a good night" because "he didn't want to be there". This exemplified the attitude of the staff of this restaurant. By the way, the food was very ordinary as well. None of our party particularly liked the dish we were served and agreed we could have done much better elsewhere. We certainly won't be back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

I've eaten at over 200 Thai restaurants around the world.. With Thai food I know quality, and this place falls very short on that. In fact the food served here is probably the WORST Thai food I have ever had.<br/><br/>The list of problems I could write here would be very long. Including wrong dishes delivered etc.<br/>I can't be bothered. <br/><br/>As usual, I don't know these people, have no grudges against them, am not in competition with them etc.etc.<br/><br/>It is just very bad food. And overpriced. Go here at your own peril.<br/><br/>Service: 1/10. Food: 1/10 Value: 1/10.<br/><br/>A score of zero would be food poisoning.<br/><br/>You've been warned.

Absolutely the best. Ambience- very appealing ,warm and unclattered.<br/>Service- second to none- very attentive and fast making sure we were satisfied althought it was super busy evening.<br/>Food- generous portions, beautiful presentation but, but ,but the taste unforgettable !!!<br/>Children can be rather fussy but that night they asked for repeats and complemented on fabulous flavours that bursted in your mouth with every bite.! :)<br/> We enjoyed it so much we could stop raving about the whole experience and made sure we went back for more.

Food was good. Try the fresh lemon iced tea - awesome.

Meh, probably wouldnt go back!. Went there with a group of friends. Firstly the restaurant was very crowded but it wasnt that busy.....go figure!!!! Any secondly one of my friends had to wait 35mins before she got her meal, every one else at the table had got theres ages before but we waited for her.....35mins later and me asking the waiter numerous times she finally got the food, so we all ate together....our very cold food. Def not good enough for a restaurant in Milton. Get your stuff together!!

Better Thai elsewhere. First experience here - it was Boxing Day. Friends chose it as there was nothing else open that evening.<br/><br/>Service is slow. We had a bottle of wine to start. Took a while before we can wave someone down to take food orders. Ordered our second bottle of wine. Asked twice for water for the table. Had to ask again for refills. I couldn't keep sipping wine with no food on the table!<br/><br/>Entrees were nothing spectacular, the usual deep-fried stuff. We ordered massamum curry, green curry, pad thai and red duck curry for our mains.<br/>Green curry looks a bit translucent with no body. Not enough cream. Pad thai we had to send back. The noodles tasted very coppery.. sour even.. Not sure. We didn't hear back from the waitstaff - is it getting re-made? If not are we gettin a re-fund? Communication? Nil.<br/><br/>And I thought that government legislation requires restaurants to have the 15% surchage implemented on their menus? Like at my restaurant? If I can do it so can you.<br/>It leaves frustration at the door and no one likes suprises on their bill and thanks for the courtesy of not telling us. It may be common sense for people to assume there is a surcharge when they go out but a reminder doesn't hurt. It's all about service. Making our lives and your jobs easier isn't it?

Terribly stringy mussaman, couldn't chew it. Poor service, asked for the bill and was told to get it myself, that was the general attitude all night. When overcharging people you should at least have good service, coz the food is ordinary at best.

Went to Thai Orchard Mt Gravatt for a birthday celebration last night and all left disappointed. There was no depth of flavor to the dishes (ordered the Banquet), the service was haphazard & poor. We had to ask for drink orders twice. We used to dine here semi regularly a while ago when the food and service were fantastic - even with a packed restaurant. Last night there were quite a few empty tables which should speak for itself. We won't come back - nxt time will go to the Springwood Thai Orchard where the food & service is always 1st class.

Old fav. For years we have been getting takeaway from this joint- and it never fails. The chicken panang is to die for, as is the coconut rice and ton tong. We dined it last night and I am sad to say the service was lacking and we had to wait quite a bit. I think they focus more on takeaways as that must be there big money maker. But their food is definitely quality- you must try it. Dine in if you have the time and patience or order out!

Disappointed. Food was good but to the same quality as many other thai restaurants. When it came to paying the bill I used my card and their machine didnt work said it was declined. Payed for the meal with another card. On checking my statement i found that we had been charged twice for the same meal. When i confronted a senior staff member about the charges with a statement they told me that I would have to come back tomorrow and that i was wrong and there bank had said that they had not recieved 2 payments. The next day i was told i would have to contact my own bank to sort it out and that they hadnt charged me. I then asked them to call their bank again while i was there and with it on speaker there bank said there was two payments and to refund the customer. They reluctantly gave the money over and complained their till was down. No sorry for the inconvience of having to come back the next day and told me if i wasnt happy to never come back. <br/>A night that was meant to be a celebration was tarnished by a rude staff member.

Disappointing food. The restaurant decor is very nice and the service speedy. However, the food was a real disappointment and lacked depth of flavour. The yellow curry tasted like it was made with curry powder that had been added just prior to serving. The mee grob was the most basic I have ever tasted. The other dishes we ordered ( a family of 4) also lacked the lovely depth of flavour I expect from Thai food.

Nice restaurant. Speedy service, reasonable prices and good selection.

We have always loved Thai food but rarely venture out from our local favourites. Last week, we decided to try Thai Orchid Restaurant at Mt Gravatt - And boy, are we glad we did!
