It is unbelievable that my first and also the last visit of this hotel was over 30 years ago. It was my first buffet dinner in Brisbane. Time is flying. I re-visited it for Sunday lunch for its first review of mine.
It was a busy lunch and service seemed to be chaotic but it settled down after more causal staff came back for work.
Ordered a risotto with chicken and mushroom and a share broad. Even though it was full house, kitchen’s production rate was good. It did not take a long time to have our dishes on the table.
Risotto was a let down with too much sauce that made the risotto sounded like a Chinese congee. If the chef can reduce the amount of onions in the risotto, it’s taste will not all cover by the onion. On the other hand, CP of share broad is good with duck spring rolls, prawn twisters, cheese sticks, calamari and bbq pork ribs. Love the prawn twisters and the spring rolls but the rest is just average.
Overall experience is alright and not as impressive as the buffet that I had here long time ago.

It is really lovely that Mr and myself get to go for dinner dates almost weekly now since the in-laws are able to look after Grace. That also means visiting more restaurants! As Grace has an early bed time around 7pm, we had to have dinner around 5 pm (ya, it is pretty early..) but we do not mind. 😀 For starters, we tried their Newmarket Calamari ($15). It came with garden salad and garlic aioli. The calamari was tasty and tender. We certainly wished there were more pieces on the plate.
Great food and service! Value for money. Highly recommend as a venue for lunch and dinner. Only recommendation is that they need to get cooking their steaks correct - but the red wine jus sauce was the best I've tasted.
