Did you know that the Banneton Bakery site in Woolloongabba used to be a warehouse loading dock? Being in an industrial looking area probably explains why I've driven along Balaclava St without ever realising there's a bakery/cafe there! It wasn't until after my visit to their Ashgrove branch that I knew the original outlet is closer to me. So when wifey wanted to head to the Koorong book store a block away I had the perfect opportunity to take a detour.
My order:
* almond croissant, $6
* cinnamon/vanilla scroll, $5.50
While deciding I let another customer order ahead of me, and she literally got a dozen (or was it more) croissants plus a bunch of other things. Good thing we weren't after the same items!
Enjoyed both of my purchases but preferred the almond croissant over the scroll. Will aim to try some savoury items next time, hopefully once the cafe is open for dine in.
Beautifully presented flat whites with great flavor. Ordered double shots. Unfortunately after a recent trip to India I was a little queasy so was unable to sample the perfection of all the sweets on display. Will most certainly return to do so. They looked amazing

Not until I write this review, I don't even know that this bakery has branches in Ashgrove and Camp Hill. I will definitely visit these two branches soon.
It was more than one year since my last visit here so went there in the morning. It was not that busy as before but customers came and go for take-away orders. There were two tables occupied including mine. Needless to say, a plain croissant with jam & butter is my a-must order and a cup of flat white is the default partner. As usual, croissant is flaky with layers and the fruit jam keeps its standard. Coffee is no doubt above average. I am totally indulged in this light brekkie with perfect satisfaction.

Missed this eatery on last Saturday morning ( was too early... :( ) so gave it a go on Sunday morning. Thanks for the early time of the day, particularly on Sunday, I managed to park just outside the bakery. When I walked in, a gentleman just took his take-away and stepped out of the door. Wow, there were so many varieties to choose from and I decided to have the croissant with Jam and Butter and a cup of Flat White. Incidentally, they are serving the Belaroma Coffee which I just had one day ago at Greenslopes. I don't know why the coffee that they served was stronger and more aromatic than the Belaroma Café. Croissant was the hero, so flaky with layers and it was a fun to tear the croissant in small pieces and mixed with a bit of butter and the jam. They served a very tasteful fruit jam and the only comment is "like, like, like". No wonder the café was packed with customers (dine-in & take-away) within 10 minutes after I took a seat. Lucky me!
