Did you know that the Banneton Bakery site in Woolloongabba used to be a warehouse loading dock? Being in an industrial looking area probably explains why I've driven along Balaclava St without ever realising there's a bakery/cafe there! It wasn't until after my visit to their Ashgrove branch that I knew the original outlet is closer to me. So when wifey wanted to head to the Koorong book store a block away I had the perfect opportunity to take a detour.
My order:
* almond croissant, $6
* cinnamon/vanilla scroll, $5.50
While deciding I let another customer order ahead of me, and she literally got a dozen (or was it more) croissants plus a bunch of other things. Good thing we weren't after the same items!
Enjoyed both of my purchases but preferred the almond croissant over the scroll. Will aim to try some savoury items next time, hopefully once the cafe is open for dine in.
Beautifully presented flat whites with great flavor. Ordered double shots. Unfortunately after a recent trip to India I was a little queasy so was unable to sample the perfection of all the sweets on display. Will most certainly return to do so. They looked amazing

Not until I write this review, I don't even know that this bakery has branches in Ashgrove and Camp Hill. I will definitely visit these two branches soon.
It was more than one year since my last visit here so went there in the morning. It was not that busy as before but customers came and go for take-away orders. There were two tables occupied including mine. Needless to say, a plain croissant with jam & butter is my a-must order and a cup of flat white is the default partner. As usual, croissant is flaky with layers and the fruit jam keeps its standard. Coffee is no doubt above average. I am totally indulged in this light brekkie with perfect satisfaction.

Missed this eatery on last Saturday morning ( was too early... :( ) so gave it a go on Sunday morning. Thanks for the early time of the day, particularly on Sunday, I managed to park just outside the bakery. When I walked in, a gentleman just took his take-away and stepped out of the door. Wow, there were so many varieties to choose from and I decided to have the croissant with Jam and Butter and a cup of Flat White. Incidentally, they are serving the Belaroma Coffee which I just had one day ago at Greenslopes. I don't know why the coffee that they served was stronger and more aromatic than the Belaroma Café. Croissant was the hero, so flaky with layers and it was a fun to tear the croissant in small pieces and mixed with a bit of butter and the jam. They served a very tasteful fruit jam and the only comment is "like, like, like". No wonder the café was packed with customers (dine-in & take-away) within 10 minutes after I took a seat. Lucky me!
I have been meaning to try this place but havent had the time till today. I ordered an almond croissant to go and New York style sourdough. The croissant was delicate, sweet, delicious and very substantial. It is big enough to share as well. The sour dough is one of the best I have had to date, so good you can eat it alone. If you love carbs, definitely give this place a try.
BEST SOURDOUGH! It is amazing and better than many others I've tried.
Sticky date scroll is another must. Head up to Penissi and get some deli stuff and you're set.
Easily one of the best bakeries in Brisbane.
It’s not really set up for sitting down, and there’s no parks nearby for you to have your delicious croissants in, so it’s for grabbing your goodies and a coffee before heading home.
If there are better croissants in Brisbane I have yet to find them. The bread too is fantastic! And whilst the beans used in the coffee are not my personal fav the barista did an amazing job of both our coffees the one time we sat there and ate. Be aware though, this is the bakery. I mean, yes, they have a shop front but its part of a commercial premises and not a Parisian sidewalk cafe. Normally I buy for the kinds and wife and eat at home. That all said, you won't be disappointed.

We had a few moments before starting work and were desperate for coffee, so we chose to stop in one afternoon. The coffee wasn't terrible, although not a strong flavour, but the almond croissant was definitely old and nowhere near up to the standard of Choquette. It's a cute looking place but I don't think we'll be coming back here.
Bannetons coffee is the business! Food is certainly on the expensive side, but when I splash out and buy something there is never regrets, delicious!
One of the better bakeries around Gabba area. Thought the coffee was alright and the almond croissant 🥐 was a bit on the dense side compared to the usual flaky ones I have. Still prefer flakier croissants but this was not bad as well. I did like their fruit tarts though! It was really tasty and refreshing.
One of my favourite places in Brisbane. Bought a cake here for my wife's 40th birthday and it was just beautiful - delicious and so special. Pastries are divine! I miss it now that I live in Townsville.
Wow! This has to be one of my new favourite spots for coffee and fresh pastries! Visited here early on a Sunday morning, and although was a line up to order, the service was super fast!
We ordered two coffees and two pastries- a cinnamon scroll and a cherry danish. It was obvious these were baked fresh, as they were so soft and delicious. Although I do wish the scroll was warmed up, it was my fault for not asking! The coffees were equally as good, they came out so fast yet were smooth tasting.
There’s very limited seating here, so you may be waiting a little bit if you come on the weekend. I cannot fault this bakery cafe, and am already planning my next visit! Definitely recommend.
Everything that we have bought from Banneton over the years have been exceptional. The sourdough loaves are the best. They are great to be eaten with literally anything, sweet or savoury. The brandied fruit loaf is great, and so is the olive and rosemary loaf. I also love the pretzels, bagels, the almond croissants and the almond pretzels. One will not be disappointed by anything they choose to get from Banneton.
Banneton is amazing. Just so, so good. Working so close is such a treat, as we all have work days where we need a pick me up and Banneton has excellent food (in the form of savoury and sweet), coffee, and bread. I personally recommend the pretzel!
Banneton Sourdough is very good and it toasts up very well.
Update:
Got a beef and Guinness pie and it had way too much little potato cubes in it and fell apart halfway into eating. It was ok but not $8 great.
The coffees, citrus tart and apple & rhubarb Danish were amazing!! Everything was delicious, will definitely be back to try other yummy treats 😋😋
