Miki Beautiful Sushi

I work in the CBD on weekends and my once a week treat is their chicken or prawn katsudon! Everything they make is fresh and tastes amazing. The staff are also very friendly and extremely accommodating.

I absolutely love this place! I waited with much anticipation and excitement when this place first opened and it has not let me down once in any of my excursions there. I love the black rice sushi and being a non-seafood eater, I love that I have so many options to select from! The staff are so sweet, friendly and always smiling. Very well priced and adorable little setup. Definitely ideal for a quick lunch break or if you want something simple but full of flavour. It is always busy but service is fast and efficient. Highly recommend!

Looking at how sushi has been a long-time staple for the lunchtime rush, the guys at Miki must have noticed the subpar quality of all those store brought varieties of sushi from the supermarket and convenience store and wondered how much better it could be done. Adding even more care to the market, it is all done in front of the customer base and to special orders if need be. Well, I can't really talk about the sushi but from the quality of other items it might well be good.

Getting out of the house for a bit, the idea I had was to drop into a former workplace just to say hello to some colleagues who were working there. There was an ulterior motive to this, or I used it as a gambit to see them, but regardless ... back to coming here. The first part of the agenda was to find something for lunch, but the usual situation was thinking "but what?". With the breadth of options, this was just a bit of wandering around the place and looking in to see what was looking good at the time. That is more or less it, when I was beckoned in by the checkout chick at this place (I was perusing the menu) I decided this was the place.

One of the key aspects to why it has exploded in popularity can be the proximity to many bus stops, but also it is to do with the speed of the service. Whether or not you are eating in or taking away, within a few minutes your meal is ready to be taken away or eaten at the bench. I am not sure about taking it to go, but eating in you are given a buzzer to take to the counter once it goes off. Even being a takeaway place more or less, it does an effort to look nice. There is that minimalism that is characteristic of Japanese design - a few bonsai plants line the dining benches, and there is a decent amount of lighting inside. Nothing too swish or slick, though it is fairly relaxing to eat in it.

A big part of their menu is sushi, especially varieties that use black rice as a specialty and a lot of it is freshly prepared. Platters of it can be done to order, plus unusual varieties are ones to look out for. Also on offer is a range of the usual Japanese dishes, such as curries, udon noodles and ramen along with many of the hot snack foods commonplace in Asian eateries. Being hungry, something substantial was the go for me. After a while, it was merely defaulting to one of my favourite meals - ramen.

I got a shoyu ramen, which is the one that is based on soy sauce. This one was unlike most other ramens around the place that have tonkotsu in conjunction with the broth. It was relatively simple, even going by how simple ramen is in general, have lots of noodles and a fair bit of pork put in. A tub of seaweed was given as a garnish on the side. Overall, this was competently made ramen that had some aspects better than a fair few of the specialised places, but cannot match up to them overall. The amount of pork that they put into the soup was generous, but a bit cold as well. The noodles were thick and juicy, plus for the cost the serving size cannot be denied too much either. On the side to drink, I had green tea. With the tea, this is another place that uses the shortcut of a tea bag in hot water. It still had a pleasant taste to it, however that is something which is hard to get around when you notice it.

From what I had, Miki Sushi was okay. For a lunch time snack, and one that is quick it does do its job well and more efficiently than other choices around. In saying that, this is definitely not your authentic location for the meals provided. Granted, when I was here I did not have any of the sushi, so the review can't go completely of what they are known for. Even in saying that, something about the prepared look that they have with the sushi does raise a few questions in my head. Perhaps these are the exception to that rule, and could well be among the best places to get sushi in town. Well, until the day appears that I do this will merely be seen as what it is, a fast food place - albeit fresher and healthier - specialsing in the Japanese cuisine.

This is a good place for lunch. I quite enjoy their black rice sushi. The price is slightly higher than other sushi joints, but it's a generous serve and the quality of both the rice and the meat/vegetables are quite high.

I like the variety of sushi on offer here - there's brown rice and black rice sushi. I usually get a salmon brown rice and chicken brown rice - sometimes one of the fancy a-la-carte style sushi. Prices are reasonable, it is all beautifully presented and quite tasty!

Great experience, friendly and helpful staff. Usually its a bit stressful finding a vegan sushi option but the staff made it so easy. Fast, clean and awesome experience. Would recommend

Try it very fresh. Normal seletion of sushis. Some platters. lovely staff. Good service. And more than affordbale. All fish has a huge omega oil content and very healthy overall. Apparently salmon, according to some, is better than tuna as less possible??? traces of mercury and better amount of good oils. these research sources maybe wrong though. Don't think tuna can harm you.

High Quality Sushi and Hot Food ... I was pleasantly surprised when I came across Miki Beautiful Sushi in the city. Very rare to find such high quality and fast lunch time food. The sushi there is awesome, but today I tried a hot food option, the Spicy Pork and it was just fantastic! Would highly recommend this place to Brisbane city goers.
