Wanted to try out koto sanpo cafe for ages and finally got there. I’ve now been twice and had both the teriyaki salmon bento box and the omurice. They were both good portions which was great. Tender and delicious food which paired perfectly with everything else. The omurice was probably my favourite because I haven’t had anything like it before. Most meals are around the $20 mark which I think is good for the amount and quality of the food you get. Nice atmosphere and interior is designed simplistic but very pleasant. Definitely recommend going if you’re in the area or just want a good quality Japanese feed.
A modern slick Japanese tea bar also selling soft serve soups & curries . Reminiscent of the tea bars in Kyoto Japan the service is gracious & swift. I opted for a flat white here which had good flavour & with a double shot a pleasant coffee hit
10/10 Matcha place! Definitely a place to visit for all the matcha fans out there! 🍵
I haven’t had savoury food here but the MATCHA!! The matcha float is my favourite menu item I’ve tried. Parfaits are yum. Have tried the pancakes but it’s not to my liking. They’re thick but not soft and fluffy, very dense and heavy.
Great hotspot for Japanese cuisine, the Matcha French toast is a must to try!! I recommend coming early as it packs up quickly
The food portion is very big. Overall is satisfaction and affordable price range compare to the portion and taste.
This is one of the jewel hidden dessert houses in Brisbane. Love the dessert; healthy choices and less sweet options. Price could be a little cheaper given the portion. My only less favorable experience was the noise of creaking kitchen door. That’s so annoying. Please fix it.
A nicely decorated store in the new FudoDori lane, always packed with people, thus be prepared for a long queue (about 20-50 minutes wait).
Ordered the Beef Katsu Lava Omurice. The price was rather expensive but accompanied with the huge portion and visually appetizing presentation. The katsu was crunchy and tender, but rather bland. The sauce was okay; may need more black pepper and spices for a better kick. For the drinks, ordered the Mango Vanilla Matcha Latte. Looks pretty but it was of smaller size than I expected. However, it tasted nice and refreshing without being overwhelmingly sweet.
Would come back in the future to try more matcha-based desserts, but preferably on the days that has less queue.
Love how the matcha menu is so varied. The size of drinks is a bit small. The matcha soft serve is a bit too sweet. The savoury items are tasty and fulfilling for lunch. Overall, I would come again and try out other matcha sweets.
Such a great place for anyone who loves Matcha and Japanese cuisine! Just make sure you know that they only serve dessert and drinks between lunch and dinner hours.
Finally Elizabeth Arcade is back to life! So happy with Koto Sanpo. Their teriyaki chicken, salmon and namban chicken bento 🍱 were delicious. Love the addition of really fresh sashimi, agedashi tofu, tamago, tempura prawn, miso soup with every bento.
Their omu rice range is my absolute favourite! Took me back to Japan 🍲
Their matcha desserts though.. amazing!! Big love for the parfait, matcha parfait pearls and anmitsu. 🍵🍰
Love their matcha softserve, matcha latte, watermelon matcha drink, matcha yuzu, the sweetened matcha (with just enough sweetness) drinks.
Ps their "pork ginger set" is only served on weekdays and it is so delicious!
Customer service was friendly, efficient and attentive too.
Honestly can't fault this restaurant :)
10/10 my go to Udon in the CBD
I always order the tempura Udon & my favourite part is the kakiage topping but sometimes they don't include it - I'm told it depends on the delivery. It's a bit disappointing when they don't have it so make sure to ask first!
The omurice is amazing, it's very creamy and delicious, if you're a fan of eggs you'll love this dish, it works well for any meal of the day!
The icecream float drinks are really delicious, the icecream is sooo yummy but it's definitely more of a dessert than a drink to pair with food - the other drinks are all quite unique & worth a try!
Ordered a Pork Katsu and Chicken Kaarage Lava Omurice - the meat was good; crispy, tender and tasty - felt the rice wasn’t as flavorful. Egg was creamy and soft, Demi glaze was decent, but could use more Unami. Overall atmosphere is quite nice. Staff are friendly too. There is also a 1% surcharge on cards!
Good place to have modern Japanese dishes. I quite like their iced matcha latte with kokuto jelly and yuzu matcha which are very very refreshing. The restaurant could be busy during meal times so be prepared to wait before getting seated. Restaurant closes between 2:30pm-5:30pm. Pay cash can save you 1% card surcharge.
One of my favourite places to go for a good Japanese omurice🌟
Cozy atmosphere with lovely staff who are friendly and very fast service.
I ordered the pork katsu lava omurice and it was lovely. The demi glaze sauce is so good and wanted to try the cream sauce but sadly a few menu items were sold out and/or unavailable. Will definitely be back to try the other meals and desserts!
Good price good food, it's a quick dinner with top quality food! Drinks are amazing! I wish I could have a chance to try dessert after they reopen the dessert options again 🥢
Best bento box I've ever had, and I've even travelled to Japan a few times! Salmon was cooked perfectly, flavours well balanced. Very authentic, chef didn't even speak English. Great service, comfortable seating. Going back two days in a row, that's how much I enjoyed it. Matcha drink was yummy too.
We came here with a group of 7 on a Thursday evening.
We noticed that there were some items on the menu not being offered anymore due to staffing shortages, including many of the signature dessert options, which was quite disappointing.
Half of us ordered the salmon Bento Box and the other half ordered the lava omurice. I ordered the salmon.
The salmon Bento Box was presented with two slices of raw salmon, one grilled salmon fillet, tofu, miso soup and some other smaller side portions. There was certainly a variety of ingredients and extra effort was made to make the Bento Box look presentable. The salmon fillet was overcooked and dry, which was quite unfortunate. Everything else was satisfactory. Portion sizes were as expected and price-wise it was also reasonable.
In previous times when I tried out the chicken lava omurice, I found the meat slightly dry but the sauce from the omurice was able to balance the meat to a certain extent.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was kept clean and tidy.
Closest parking would probably be Myer centre so if you're dining at night you might want to book earlier to save a bit in parking. Alternatively, you can park at King George Square for $5 (night rates) and walk over.
PS. This place is also famous for its matcha green tea ice cream so those of you who love green tea ice cream, give this place a go!
