I seriously dont understand the sudden bad reviews of this bbq/buffet. It's still the same from a year ago. Maybe they went at a bad time. The service is great and the staffs are very welcoming and energetic to serve us. The meat was spot on perfect. Maybe i just have a low standard of criteria. But it is still great.
Other than a la carte menu, they also serve BBQ buffet.
So it was convenient to choose between pigging out or just moderate feed.
I actually enjoy their a la carte more than the BBQ, with their cold noodle (naeng myun) was good in both the noodle's texture and the sauce taste. Hot stews and spicy chicken was ok.
And there was one time when we had our meal, somehow some oil drippings was leaking from under the table and soiled my husband's trouser (luckily it wasn't hot that would hurt his legs), but it was also such a let down that something like that happened while we dine out.
I was pleasantly surprised !!
Between three people we had set menu A, and asked to change the soy bean ramen to korean soy bean soup. It came with steamed egg and an array of really tasty side dishes.
We also ordered an add on salad on the side ($3) and makgeolli (korean rice wine - my favourite korean alcoholic beverage). (Unfortunately not shown in the pictures)
The meat was tasty and great portions , plus the waiters were very kind (very important point for me as to whether id come back or not!)
Great quality and tasty meat! Other hot food options are tasty and has great variety. Good marinade on the meat and prompt service.
Worth the $30+
Although there isn't much to differentiate the various Korean BBQ offerings in Sunnybank, for some reason I prefer Dae Jung Kum. Perhaps because it is smaller and quieter and slightly better value for money.
I've found their BBQ meats to be nicely flavoured and service is generally good with side dishes provided when asked. I've also found their cooked dishes (jaeyuk boekum and bulgogi) to be quite tasty.
Always a good time at Dae Jung kum. Need a Korean meat fix, they have you covered. The buffet for thirty bucks is a good deal, however don't be deceived too much by the warm buffet options.. good and prompt service.
I can only comment on this restaurant based having the Samgyetang (Ginseng chicken soup). I've had this soup in Seoul the authentic way and I can assure you that this is the real deal (with the exception of a whole baby chicken in the soup). The flavours were just awesome, chicken pieces were tender, rice in the soup had absorbed perfectly and the pepper mix for the soup - perfect!
In true Korean style, they also serve a selection of condiments to accompany anything you order. Highly Recommended and I'll be back for sure!
We've been coming to Dae Jung Kum for around 2 years now! Ever since it's opened, and we've got to say, it has just gotten better and better. Especially recently (I think there has been a change of management). The only reason why i'm NOT giving this a 5/5 is because of the service, whilst smiles are all around, the waiters are very slow, and forget what we ordered. We always have to get their attention again.
Aside from that, the Korean BBQ here, all you can eat is around $25 per person (all you can eat) and you can opt for Wagyu beef for around $30. Absolute bargain and will leave you rolling out of the door!
Korean BBQ of course also comes with the mini plates, and a free egg soup (our fav) also comes. Definitely one of the top Korean BBQ's in Brisbane, it's a shame though they're lacking in that service.
I can't believe how are the competitions among restaurants in Sunnybank Food Precinct, particularly among Korean restaurants. Today, I walk pass Dae Jang Kum, the critic from one of the foodies about the lunch special puff up in my mind so I decide to try. Wow, for the price of $9.90, I have my favorite Ginseng Chicken and three side dishes. The sides dishes of seaweed, potato and KimChi are delicious. I have nearly half of the chicken covers up the rices at the bottom of the hot pot for my main. What a nice porridge and super valuable lunch! Nearly forget to tell you, the lovely waitress is so attentive and friendly. I definitely will go back.
Favourite. I get the jjambbong every time and though the menu says it will come with udon or rice (your choice), it comes with the same clear, chewy noodles they use in japchae, or "sweet potato noodles" which really just taste like rice noodles but sweeter and chewier. Anyway, they make it just the way I like it, and of late it's also come with a bowl of rice, making it super filling. And it's always piping hot when it comes. Sooo delicious.
Good value for money. Always had great service. Can be very busy and noisy. But that just adds to the atmosphere.
Found the lady to be helpful. Not a big shop but has decent range. Parking is always difficult with only several in front of the shop.
Good quality meat and decently priced . Staff is very responsive
